I am having the hardest time finding the right extra curricular activity for my youngest son.
My oldest does very very well in baseball.
Weve put the youngest in a few times and its just too boring for him. He gets very distracted, there are too long of activity gaps for him to really focus on the game.

I dont care if its singing, acting, sports, art.. I just want him to have some sort of outlet that makes him feel good about achievements... and baseball is doing just the opposite.

His placements (per vedic chart)
Virgo Asc with Venus
Scorpio 3rd house with Sun and Jupiter
Capricorn 5th house with Moon
Aquarius 6th house
Gemini 10th house with Mars(r)

Friends?
um, well....
Im honestly not sure. He has friends from class, but he doesnt see them outside of school.
We have a rental house next door and are on our 6th family in 7 years. They usually have a child or 3 my kids play with, but they are never enrolled in any kind of sport.

He makes "friends" where ever he goes though. He can usually rummage up a game of tag or hide and go seek with other kids, but as far as best friends, there really arent any.
Hes only 7 so I still keep him close to the family and the house.

Drawing or something he could do with his hands, preferably something that requires focus and precision. Airplane model building? Some advanced lego stuff? Dominos? Acting could stress him out in the beginning but he should learn to enjoy it with his Moon in the 5th. I'd definitely go for some instrument. A bass guitar should be a good choice.

Do you ever use western astrology?

Maybe he's not competitive and too laid back.
Not everyone likes drawing or acting etc.
I think play like working with legos pretending and even hide and seek is great for development.
I would say there is an issue if he just sits around watching tv.

Sometimes I feel like parents have too much expectations or they just want to keep their kids busy.
Why not do constructive activities with him as a family and leave it at that.

lol.. ^ Do you ever use vedic astrology?

Well, you'll first have to find out if he is a group centered individual or likes to go at it alone?

Group-centered sports like baseball, rugby, soccer etc. will only get him bored if he unable to "shine" as an individual.

They may also fail to ignite his spark if he is more of a loner personality as they require a team oriented approach and a social nature.

He has Moon/Venus in Cap and Virgo respectively, so my guess is NO. He is not the "team spirit" kind of kid.

If he is more individualistic, then sports like cross country, tennis, swimming etc. are likely to interest him.

In these sports, the individual pushes themselves.

I liked these kinds of sports as a kid as I wasn't a socially inclined person.(I have Moon/Venus in Cancer/Scorpio respectively)

Also, his Venus/Moon in earth makes him more serious and likely to take activities of this nature(intended for fun and relaxation) a little more seriously.

Does his Mars in Gemini square his Venus? This could be indicative of a short attention span to Venus-related activities and an inability to focus.

Well, that is until he finds a balance between the need for constant change and stimulation(Gemini) and doing the activity to the best of his ability(Virgo).

Ask him about how he feels about those sports that I mentioned(the individualistic kind). But he is 7 years old and so, I would take my time.

The Mars in Gemini just needs to balance with Venus in Virgo. And with the Moon in Capricorn, he will attach himself quickly once that niche sport is found. Trust me on this.

And then, you'll have very little to motivate or push him on with as he'll be doing it all himself.

Gemini 10th house with Mars will make him have a hard time staying with one job- especially when he gets older. He gets bored easily. Once he learns the ropes of a job or hobby he gets bored and wants to move on. This is not the best placement for mars to be in for a Virgo ascendant and since he's still young I suggest you try to help him learn how to work with this energy. When he grows up he will do better in a job that allows him to do something different every day or allows him to work with a different company every week- like a consultant for example. Or he can do well in jobs that require him to create changes in an environment.- Like a consultant who is hired to completely change a company's entire tech department for example. If he works in a 9-5 doing the same thing every day type of job he is likely to either quit out of depression & severe boredom or cause himself to get fired.

Where's his mercury? mercury is his chart ruler.

Also where's his Saturn and his Rahu (North node).

Well if you're looking to get your son involved in something that he will not need to be forced into, look at where his rahu is. Whereever rahu is is where we feel compulsion and extreme desire. However, rahu is addiction as well so it's important to know where it is.

I have used western, its what I started learning astrology with, but I could never "click" with it. I have really clicked with vedic, so while I am a little familiar with western Im more comfortable with vedic

He likes building, like I said, but he likes it to the extreme. Leggos and small things keep him busy for short times, but he really likes to build large things ... and wants to use the power tools, hammer, and saws.

Its hard to say wether he is a groupie or a singleton.
He loves to play and be with other kids, but when it comes to a structured environment he doesnt want to focus on the task at hand.
He focuses better when hes singled out.
...and that could be an age thing.

I wasnt a socially inclined individual myself. I took horseback riding lessons most of my life and did a little gymnastics.
While there are people around, I liked the fact that my focus was on myself (and the animal) and not on everyone else around (and I hope that doesnt come off as self centered - lol - I just talk to myself a lot and cant keep up with multiple people at a time)

His mars does square his venus and he does have a very short attention span.

I have thought about soccer because it is an active sport, but he is a bit of a ball hog. Not in a selfish way, just in a he wants to be actively engaging in something.

I have also thought about Karate. He loves physical action.

Mercury is in his 2nd house of Libra
Saturn in 12th house of Leo
Rahu is in 6th house of Aquarius

I agree it could be an age thing, but it can also be that mars energy in the 10th as well. Virgo lagnas with this placement get bored with routine activity and they need activity that has more variety and mental connection. However as he grows his Rahu in the 6th will help him handle this energy better than most people with this placement. I think Martial Arts might be a good fit for him. Rahu in the 6th makes one do well against his enemies so if he takes Karate seriously he might kick some serious butt. Rahu in the 6th people tend to make great lawyers too as they have a keen eye as to how to win against their opponents.

Mercury in the 2nd Libra... I like this placement. Your son will likely be a fairly good investor or financial advisor with a hidden talent for writing and diplomacy. Although his 2nd ruler is debilitated so there may be some setbacks. I can't think of any sports that go with this placement though.

But if he really likes building you could consider getting him a bunch of 3D models or Puzzles and have him go at those for hours. This makes me wonder if his ascendant is in Hasta Nakshatra.

The ruler of his 11th is in his 5th which is great for friendship, but having the 5th ruler in the 12th makes one do better creatively when they are in solitude. So as to whether your son is a singleton or a social person... he is both. However he will generally be at his creative best when on his own so you may find that after socializing for a while he feels the need to retreat into his own space to recoup the energy. I think this also makes Martial arts a good pick because generally it consists of classes with other students, but you're expected to practice the movements on your own at home as well.
