I've been learning french for my trip to europe and I'm picking it up surprising quickly.
I knew some before but I never really took it in school because everyone else was.Anyways I don't want people to to think I'm American when I visit.
Which is awesome because I'm really on point with accents I sound Parisian even the gestures... I think it's my Gemini placements.
I took Japanese for a while and it was a lot of harder for me to get the accent right I think I was french in my past life soo maybe that's why. IP: Logged |

I love languages, like, i'm interested in learn
german, japanese, korean, chinese, russian .....I had take online german courses and i kind of know the basic but very very very basic...I have tried chinese and korean on the internet too but i think those languages are too hard to learn online, like i need to go to actual classes. and well, english is my 2nd language...my first is spanish so i would say i'm bilingual ? haha I have a jupiter, pluto and NN Scorpio 3rd house so that might explain something? Mars in Gemini too... I'm good, I learnt english by myself, of course i still lack in vocabulary, I need to learn more, but basically I learned it throught listening to music, watching videos in english, and reading astrology pages since there is more info.

I guess I'm ok-ish at picking up languages (sag merc) but I forget quickly. When I speak English the hardest part is getting the accent right. I used to try to learn french but to me it was too difficult. I'm still ok at listening/speaking japanese but it has been so long so I can't really read and write anymore. My English is ok. Yah. Ime I think those are some of the most effective ways to learn a language. I like to learn by listening to other people's conversations (lol), watching movies n reading... IP: Logged |

English is the language I speak at home. French & filipino are two other languages I learned growing up to communicate with extended family & friends around me. At school I learned Spanish & Italian. Both are very similar & it's easy to mix them up. I also learned chinese that is one difficult language to learn. The 4 tones is unlike any other languages out there, you can't speak with a monotone voice in chinese. I enjoyed learning the characters but I have stopped my chinese
courses. I would say that I am fairly good at languages but learning a language as a child was much easier. I find that things came much more naturally. It's hard for me to express myself in spanish, I'm still learning & hopefully someday I'll meet some hot latino guy :P Sun, merc, venus, mars in sagittarius. Booyah! I'm pretty good at the accents and stuff and am actually fluent in english to a very good degree (not trying to brag, but Mercury in Leo conjunct sun creates a very good speaker.) and am actually very good at pronouncing different languages and am pretty good at making conversation in them too. I got jupiter in Sagittarius which is really big for that as well as an air mars. ------------------

I think people with air signs pick up language more quickly, also mutable sign probably would as well. I'm all water, fire and earth, I also got a D in Spanish in high school, lol. IP: Logged |

Don't worry about people thinking you are American. They will. It's inevitable! Just keep on learning your French.  Good for you. I'm good with speaking languages. I hate to write them. Especially French because written and spoken French is quite different.

I speak five languages fluently. I can read and write four of them. Learning to write alphabets (Indian languages have more than 200alphabets)takes about three to four days. Reading fluently takes about a month. Once I learn to speak rest is easy. Sad part is I'm not too keen on learning.

I'm in a country where speaking more than one language is mandatory.South Africa is just that diverse really.I speak 4 languages but I think I am best at writing in English. The language is very difficult to avoid as it is all around me. Mercury in Capricorn in 9th. IP: Logged |

The only language I speak fluently at the moment is English so that would put me in the not very good at languages category. I can speak some German but not enough to carry a conversation. I am also hoping to learn French in the future. I am good at accents though, I pick them up very easily. That's probably to do with my Mercury square Neptune. Currently I can only have a conversation in English. My German used to be intermediate but I never cared about this language and didn't continue using it after I graduated HS so by now I've forgotten the majority of what I learnt. When I do like the language and feel motivated to learn it, then it goes rather smoothly. I know a little bit of Spanish and Italian and I'm going to work on the latter sooner or later. I wish I could speak Italian and Japanese as well as I speak English. Believe it or not, Japanese pronunciation is easier for me than British accents  I don't know if I could handle kanji etc. but I'd be satisfied with being able to talk and write and read the latin alphabet version. Generally, my goal is to speak 2 more languages at least.I have Mars in the 9th house and Sagittarius Mercury. Now everybody's singing!

I actually find it difficult to learn new languages though I do have Gemini influences ... I speak two languages, french is the most fluent then English. I'm trying to learn Farsi. It's cool and the writing is different; that could help improve my IQ.

I spoke 4 languages fluently by the time I was 6. It just kind of happened. While I was fluent by adult standards, but my vocabulary was childlike and my grammar mistakes were as well. As I grew older, I got better at all 4. I began studying 3 of them in school by 3rd grade, but the sole reason I spoke any of them was because I knew people who spoke them. I took french for a bunch of years but I'm totally out of touch. And italian. I took that in college. Again out of touch. So all I have is 4 instead of 6. Using my skills, I should have easily been at 8 now. That's my mercury conjunct Saturn talking. I'm happy with whatever I have IP: Logged |

I can sing songs in other languages but I have a hard time speaking them. Accents aren't the problem, It's putting the word to word meaning.
I took Spanish 1 in hs.
The teacher would ask me questions and you had to respond in Spanish. Sometimes I would just say idk because I thought my answer was French (even though I never learned French).9 out of 10 times my answer was right, But I lacked the confidence.
I think if I tried learning it now I could possibly pick it up and use it more fluently..

I'm pretty good at accents.. I can do Spanish, Portuguese, English, Irish, Scottish, Australian, dialects of American accents, Russian, German, and Italian. As far as speaking languages, I can pick them up very quickly. I only speak English fluently, but I can understand a lot of Spanish. I took Italian in HS and breezed through it.. It was probably the easiest class I've ever taken to-date.

I'm that way with French as well. I'm not that way at all with Spanish, which I don't even bother with anymore. I did take French in high school, and my accent was better than most. I also picked up on the language quickly. But I've forgotten a lot of it. So now I just stick with teaching my son very simple things like how to tell people his name in French, counting, and the alphabet. Or how to tell someone they're intelligent, etc. He knows the words to Frere Jacques. I have a suspicion I had a past life there as well. IP: Logged |

I'm not great with mimicking accents, but I recognize them easily. I can tell the difference between people who are from Scotland, or Northern England, compared to Irish or Australian. Unlike most people I know, even living in a pretty diverse city.Mostly English speaking accents, though. But maybe it's because I've had friends from those places, so it's easier for me to pick up on? I dunno. But I'm pretty good at picking up my French again if and when I feel like it. IP: Logged |
