So Cafe Astrology gives Venus conjunct, Trine AND opposite Venus all a value of + 3 points in synastry.

I'm surprised that Venus Trine Venus has the same good value as Venus opposite Venus. I guess the opposition isn't so bad afterall.

I think it depends on the couple and their natal charts. Usually I like hard aspects but I can't see myself with someone who has their Venus opposite mine, it would be in Aqua (not my type) and square my ASC/DSC axis. I'd rather have Venus trine Venus, that person would either place their Venus on my NN or create a grand trine in my chart. It's one of the reasons why I'm not a fan of Cafe Astrology's scoring system, it doesn't take into account the individual.
