Just curious, what are some aspects in a natal chart that would make a person fearful or at least have no interest in driving?

I was in an accident many years ago and I've still yet to pick driving back up..I know this is a psychological thing, but what planets or aspects would intensify this fear? I was on an anxiety forum and there are quite a few people who are my age or older who have never even learned to drive and have absolutely no interest in doing so. What planets rule motor vehicles and accidents?

Thanks!

I don't have my license, and I'm incredibly afraid of driving. Your reason is very understandable, whereas my reason is completely irrational. I've never been in an accident, but I just feel very afraid of driving.

I think it would have something to do with the 3rd house (transportation).

Uranus rules my 3rd, and is located in my 12th house, conjunct my Sun, trine my Moon, sextile my Mars... I can see how the ruler of the 3rd in the 12th may indicate problems, but it's pretty well-aspected, so I don't know

Thank you for your input! And my mom didn't learn how to drive until she was in her 30s so don't feel bad. Hell I think my great grandma learned when she was in her 50s. Sometimes these things just happen. What is it about driving that you find fearful? For me I'm more worried about losing control or making a dumb mistake then I am of other people.

I both hate and fear driving. I do have my license but I almost never use it. I was in a few accidents when I was teenager so maybe that's it. I was never a good driver, not even when I did it on a regular basis, so I feel like getting behind the wheel is risky. Basically driving makes me intensely anxious. I need to get over it because I live in an area with very little public transportation.

I have my Sun and Mercury in the 3rd. Cancer is on the cusp and I have my Moon in my 4th conjunct my Mercury and IC. Not sure how that plays into my driving issues.

I don't know how to drive and I'm old, I really do want to learn because I like to travel and explore the World, you really can't do that if you can't drive. So I'm going to go for it this year. Funny, but I love racing in video games...

I have afflicted Uranus and okay Pluto in 3rd so it may have something to do with it.

I once read somewhere having certain aspects in the 12th house or a packed 12th house could encompass reckless driving.. Something about Aries being in it, I think? So maybe the 12th house would also encompass a fear of driving.

I'm not very fearful of driving, but I'm just not a fan of it. I've been driving for 4/5 years and I just prefer public transportation. I don't like the responsibility of driving; too many lives in my hands. I live in the tri-state so public transportation is used very heavily and frequently to get from point A to points B, C, D and so forth.. I'm on a (somewhat) set schedule, I don't have to worry about traffic or gas prices, I'm responsible for no one but myself, and I can catch up on work, sleep or daydream the whole way there.

My 12th house is in Aries, and I've got Sun, Mercury, Venus and Ceres all in it. I do drive quite fast.. I tend to usually do 15+ over the speed limit, with no real rush.

Your reasonings for disliking driving are pretty understandable and normal, though. Many people get spooked out once they've gotten into accidents (I for one definitely did, and mine was nothing but a small fender bender!)

I don't know how to drive, and I think I'd be a nervous driver, haha, one of those, everyone hates

I'd rather have 10 bungee jumps in New Zealand and dive with sharks for 20 times in South Africa But I guess, I'll have to learn sooner or later, cause car is cheaper, than those activities I need a personal driver. Gonna work on this instead

Well I feel better knowing I'm not alone in my fear!

Do any of y'all get pressure from people to learn/drive again? I pretty much always have someone on my case..but I just ignore it.

My 12th house has no planets, but it is in Leo. My Mars(Rx) and Saturn(Rx) is in Libra in the second house doesn't that rule possessions? I got into the accident in my first car that I had bought AND totaled the same day I bought it! Yup that's some great luck I have there huh? lol My 3rd house is ruled by Mars/Pluto (Scorpio) and Jupiter(Rx) and Pluto(Rx) both reside there. So if the 3rd house represents transportation, losing my car a few hrs after I bought it was pretty life altering to the point of not ever wanting to own or drive a car again. This happened back in 05 so it will be almost 10yrs next April since I've been behind the wheel.

I do keep my license current though, because I know eventually I will get the courage to do it again..but it may not be until I'm almost 40..or never lol.

My 12th house is in Leo and my Leo Sun is in 12th House haha! I think, my problem is that I dont want a responsibility. If I owned some estate, I'd totally race around in my Lamborhini or a customised Mustang (I love them), but, at the moment, I'm not rich enough.

Maybe it's my Virgo Asc?

My Sag Moon is conjunct Uranus and Jupiter (tightly), Mars sq Pluto. I'm a dare-devil, but as long as others are not involved.

That's very interesting. I have Aries on the cusp of the 12th and although I'm not a reckless driver, I am a distractible one. That's always when the accidents happen too. I don't have any planets in my 12th but I do have my NN and PoF there.

I do get pressured by people to drive more often, especially by my dad. I ignore them but they're probably right, I need to start driving again. I really wish I could afford a driver, that would be ideal.

My dad taught me to drive when I was 11 or 12. At night. On barely lit side roads. Brilliant, right? -_- it was fun though

When I was 7, he made me steer. He did this often. Only difference was I almost killed us this time. Moral of the story: always have a hand on the wheel when you teach your 7 year old daughter to steer... illegally.

I don't drive. On an almost daily basis, I consider going to the dmv and getting my learner's permit. But I'm still mildly scared.

This is very embarrassing. I've represented automotive companies at international auto shows and and told consumers how wonderfully the cars drove. "the TDI engine can feel a little torque-y, but look at the safety ratings! Diesel costs more but saves you so much more. Let me show you our other model. It has a 3.2 L V6 6 cylinder engine and a horsepower of ..." ~from the girl who can't drive.

I had this SAME fear. It was weird though, because I was never in an accident--I just always felt something could or would happen.

But then my mom had surgery, and I realized that it was up to me to be serious and learn how to drive so I could take care of her, since I am her only child.

I got my liscense the day after my 26th birthday, so I was super late!

Driving is about control and about trust. So I would say aspects or themes surrounding this would be control: saturn (restriction) and mars (how energy is released) and some kind of air mercury (thinking) which would lead to some anxiety.

I never thought about this at all until now.....

I have a mars and pluto in scorpio conjunction in the 5th.....that is a control aspect for sure, and can also be dramatic about emotional issues, esp. since it's in scorpio....

I drive everyday and all but I'd rather not. Like whenever I can get a ride anywhere I will. Also - can't parallel park. Did once for my test but that was a fluke.

I know other Scorpio ascendants (Virgo/Taurus/Scorp, Cap/Libra/Scorp, Cancer/Aries/Scorp) that didn't drive until later (I waited until 19, no rush) and Scorpio sun women who waited too. One is Scorpio/Aqua/Gem and the other is Scorp/Sag/Aqua

Driving is often said to be like "second nature"-for those who are used to it.

When driving, I think people are displaying their Moon/Mars placements and interaction between the two.

So if there is a conjunction or aspect between Moon/Mars and other planets, that planet gets "taken for a rise" so to speak.Literally!

I have Moon in Cancer and Mars in Libra. I am both a cautious and considerate driver.

However, I do tend to also get arrogant on the road and can be quite "bullish". This , I believe is the square between my Moon and Mars.

Someone with Moon in Cancer and Mars in Taurus would be quite a conservative driver like me. But because of the sextile aspect between Moon/Mars(by aspect/sign), they'd have a lot more patience and tact.

My sister has Moon in Cancer and Mars in Gemini.

She drives both cautiously and fast. She was quick to pick up the skills of driving(Mars in Gemini) , but is also very cautious on the road(Cancer).

Sometimes, she too can get overly sensitive about being cut and can rush others on the road.Venus in Aries is squaring her Moon in Cancer

I've met quite a few people who don't like driving or don't consider themselves that good.

One person I met had their Moon in Leo/Mars in Aries. He often got into road rage.

The other had Moon and Mars in Scorpio and he hated anyone cutting in on him. Hated it!

I think "fear" like "self belief", is something that can be nurtured. There are no "born traits" that are evident that will suggest that someone fears driving.

Moon in Virgo may fear driving because it is hazardous to one's health and the preservation of limbs.

Whilst another Moon in Virgo may have mastered the art of driving so much, that they become expert teachers in driving school (maybe in both offensive and defensive driving)

I am a Moon in Virgo and when I got my license I was pretty good. But the accident shook my confidence and I pretty much swore it off as something I'd rather not do again. I'm actually thinking about taking a defensive driving class to build my confidence back up. I'm aware that I am limited on where I can go and what I can do..but that doesn't seem to bother me too much when it comes to driving.
