Example from my own life.
My grandmother passed away last year and I think it should show int he progressions.
At that month my sp Moon had just moved over my SP DESC and was applying to conjunction with my sp Saturn, squeezed in between them. It was too wide off each of them to be called "in aspect", and of course, the sp Moon is quickly moving so not really valid for the whole year but just for that timeframe.
In terms of the YEARLY progressions I was having sp ASC on 8.57 Capricorn square sp Pluto on 9°11 Libra and n Pluto on 9°05 Libra.
It was very closely applying to the exact square (the aspect reached total exactness in september/ october).
Anyway this was easily the most dramatic progression I had that year.
This ASC-Pluto - square obviously was in play for the WHOLE year, and as a matter of fact is still in play, though slowly fading out by now (my sp ASC is on 9.48 Capricorn now, well over 30 minutes off squaring Pluto - still not out of the "danger zone" completely, but nowwhere as "acute" anymore; it will be totally gone by october - so you could say I am already in the aftermath of it, hopefully ).
Anyway so, how could I have foreseen WHEN exactly this ASC-Pluto-square would come dramatically to the foreground?
The theory is:
1) through transits of outer planets
2) through tertiary progressions (indicating at least the month, it would get into focus).
As for the tertiary progressions, they could not have been any more dramatic!
At the exact day my grandmother passed away:
TP DESC on 8.35 Capricorn
TP Moon on 8.20 Capricorn
(TP Pluto on 9.12 Libra)
So the first part of the "rule" is fulfilled, a tertiary planet on a tertiary angle, and interestingly the Capricorn-Cancer axis is often associated with grandparents.
In my case even more so as it involves my mutual house reception of 2nd (Cap) and 8th house (Cancer). (the 8th house in derivative houses, where 4th house rules the father and 10th the mother, is symbolic of the death of the paternal grandmother, if I calculated it right at least).
As for the second part of the rule, it was also fulfilled, though not touching a radical angle, but it was exactly conjunct the sp (yearly) ASC on 8.57 Capricorn.
It was also of course squared by the natal, sp and tp Pluto.
Could the symbolism be any more fitting?
It probably wouldn´t have been necessary to be such a complete mirror of Moon-Pluto-theme, but that it was, made it just all the more specific as to what would happen when.
As for transits they were also playing into this theme-complex exactly.
Goosebumpworthy actually. My grandmother passed away at 3:30 a.m., to the song of "My way" by Frank Sinatra, my Dad was with her and actually after having dozed off, woke up to be consciously with her when she was making her last breaths, so he knew it so exactly.
At that time there was
Tr Pluto 9.57 Capricorn
Tr DSC 8.37 Capricorn
Tr Moon 10.07 Libra.
So the Tr Pluto was of course aspecting all the progressions in my chart, and the Tr Moon was setting it off at EXACTLY that day and hour (ASC).
Where it gets even creepier is when you know my grandmother`s natal chart:
Sun 9.59 Cancer
Mars 9.03 Cancer
Pluto 8.27 Cancer
I think probably it is not ALWAYS that precise, but seriously the mirroring on all levels really astounded me.
