To the point that the relationship gets boring? Must synastry always contain the perfect balance between soft and hard aspects so that there will always be potential for growth? Have you ever left a relationship because it was too harmonious?

There is no such thing as being "too compatible": That's like saying the water is too "wet".

When you are feeling indifference, its a feeling that this experience is "less than". It's bordering on the mundane and it isn't fun.

Such a relationship would suggest incompatibility; there doesn't always have to be plates flying around in order for couples to know that they are not doing well together.

Maybe the two people are better as passing acquaintances than lovers?

Agree. I have looked at countless synastry charts and sometimes the married couples have every "big 5" planet in common and every other planet falls within the same elements as well. It is a huge myth - backed up with studies across the board - that 'opposites attract.' They might, but the more similar you are the better it actually is for compatibility over the long haul. Not me, this is statistical. There is no such thing as overly compatible - you'd have a deep friendship and understanding with aligned synastry, which often leads to love. Sadly, most people don't equate ease with love, they believe love should be turbulent and difficult.

Just based on experience I haven't seen many synastries of long-therm couples who only got good aspects between them (sextiles and trines) and no challenging one… on the other side I have not seen the opposite either…
It must be some kind of balance, but in general with every bad aspect there must be something to counteract it, or with time the bad aspects will affect the relationship

But one thing, I don't see oppositions as bad aspects, and I don't always see conjunctions as good aspects either…but that is because my own chart has so many contradictions, that there is bound to be some oppositions…I just think they add dynamism to the relationship, but there has to be some easy flowing aspects too, cause otherwise the couple will be too different…

The answer to this is yes, IMO. Not only for growth, but for enduring attraction as well (a mixture of familiarity and surprises, suitable for both of them).

But I agree that there isn't such a thing as "too compatible".

What you are describing is a synastry with a preponderance of soft aspects that turns into a routine. Now, some people love routine, while others not so much. But most people like a mixture of familiar and novelty in their relationships, I guess.

I think it all comes down to natals really. Some people do fine with mostly soft aspects and few hard aspects while others are the opposite and need more "umph" in their synastry/composite in order to really feel stimulated.

I don't think people can be too compatible though.

I agree, Chiemi. Natal aspects and placements show us how one tolerates routine.

true I do have a lot of squares and conjunctions and need the same thing in synastry.

I noticed I tend to overlook synastry with too much trines..
I mean we could be friends lol.

Compatability isn't about getting along. It's about learning to not get in each other's way

So I would have to say no. I don't believe in being "too" compatible.

You definitely can't be too compatible. But I personally have no chemistry with people I have too many trines and sextiles with, I just want to be friends with them. And people who place planets conjunct my inner planets are usually too much like me, it's boring. So neither of those things would indicate compatibility for me on their own. But they definitely would for other people, it depends on the natal. I think most of us like synastry with the same aspects that we have in our birth charts.
