I found Mercury-saturn double whammy in synastry with my love interest, is it THAT bad? I know it can restrict the communication between us, and for me that's one of the most important things in a relationship, I need someone whom I could speak hours to and just feel comfortable and feel like they actually listen. so, could this be really bad? Our communication since the very begining has been slow, like if we were afraid of making any bad impression on each other through the things we say.

Well to be honest it's not really a good thing. Is it squares or oppositions?
I think the double whammy can really make you serious in your communication with each other, and it could be hard for you to just joke and make fun…. it could actually end up with your both being afraid of loosen up to each other and just say what is on your mind.
It COULD also be a good thing, if that is what you need. Seriousness and structure.
Do any of you have mercury-saturn in your natals?
And what is your other aspect to mercury in synastry?

It's a very frustrating experience. I don't like it. My sag mercury conjunct someone's Saturn and that person's virgo mercury square my sag Saturn.

I love to talk. I love to text. I love to banter. This person has very tight form of digital communication. If I initiate any fun conversation, he'll sabotage it or not know how to respond.

When this person comes around in person, he's suddenly all chatty. At that point, I'm no longer into being chatty. He takes my nonverbal behavior personally. I'm pretty sure I do the same with his nonverbal communication.

in my experience its actually not that bad...i have it dou le whammy as well and we are loose as a goose infront of eachother and were always laughing with eachother!! we have other great aspects that are really strong so thats probably what helps. when i talk he takes me more seriously and tries to figure my mind out and i am the same way with him. i notice alot with him though is that his always trying to "teach" me something. and saturn is known for that. slow growth and slow transformations. but i feel cared for thats for sure. i feel a brotherly sisterly romantic bond with him? lol...yea....wherever saturn seems to be in the chart is where u tend to care for someone seriously and try to help creating that bond or "glue"

Do you have any Mercury/Saturn in your natal chart?

DW are never bad, they are a potent glue in a relationship. If you have the aspects in your natal, it shows you can integrate positively the negative traits of that aspects with this particular person and/or enhance the positive traits of that aspect together. It's like a "divine" sign of integration for that energy in combination with someone.

If you don't have the aspect in your chart, it adds this dimension to your natal and if the synastry is strong, it means you probably need it.

Mercury Saturn is not just about communication, although it relates to communicating what really matters vs. casual, blah blah talk. Mercury Saturn is also an aspect for research, learning together, seriousness, real friendship etc.

Yeah, we both got mercury-uranus, I got a sextile and he got an opp. Our double whammy is a sextile. I got mercury pisces, he got mercury virgo and both capricorn saturn.
And all you have said is right, since the very begining it felt like if a "language barrier" something strange, we didn't care at all cause the attraction was stronger than that "language barrier" but probably,I thought in long term it'd affect the relationship in a bad way.
