All systems of divination are linked by human soul/mind/psyche which is in a circle. The Tarot and Astrology correspond to the intangible cycles of the human soul and evolution. Therefore the two are really united by a third underlying principle which is very difficult for me to articulate...but none the less there. One observation is I used to have a friend who was truly psychic with the cards. Yet it tired her to use them that way. Astrology would be easier for someone like me as it could tell me more as I didn't have her "psychic zing" (or whatever you want to call it).OTOH...I did have a somewhat creepy experience with the tarot when the same guy who insisted I learn at least basic astrology also wanted me to learn the tarot (because it's all connected) though I just didn't find tarot cards appealing. So he gets me into the proper state to read tarot cards (difficult meditation with some fasting--the guy is an occultist) and I decided to ask the cards, "What is the future of the United States?" (I mixed with some survivalists and others with apocalyptic views at the time.) I wasn't that impressed with the answer but I recall the "outcome" card being the upside down Tower (a flaming one in this version), a very ominous card to have! Several months later 9/11 happened (he remembered the flaming tower I'd drawn the moment he saw the footage of planes crashing into buildings) followed by the USAPATRIOT Act and such (turning the Constitution upside down) and he encouraged me to take up the tarot as I had a talent for it. But I just didn't feel right about it. Yet maybe instead of the future the reading coincidentally picked up on my own immediate future in which I was forced to flee less than a month later and ended up in a real bad sitch in Frisco & Oakland for the next 6 months (leaving the same day 9/11 happened, I remember cause I was wondering why all the flags were at half mast as I was driving to my new location). Alternately, and more disturbing, maybe by attuning myself to the energy of the USA that was facing this in its future I'd somehow taken in some of those vibrations to myself which is why my life got, er, "interesting" for the next several months (ending when 9/11 happened)...that would certainly explain why I instinctively didn't want to have anything more to do with the tarot. PixieJane, what an experience! It'd be enough to keep anyone away from such power to predict. My experience with Tarot is limited to Llewellyn.com's free tarot reading section. Don't laugh, y'all It may be computerized, but it always predicts accurately. It gets my attitude right, predicts the present, the past, always catches my obsession with money for those career/money questions, knows which relationship is cursed and which one isn't... it's a little too good. Makes me want to buy the real cards. I think astro is better for the general masses to learn. It is more intellectual, more precise, easy to debate and settle. Your chart is set, your cards are not. Tarot is a skill that involves a higher level of trust in the unknown and in chance. It is far more open to interpretation and easier to abuse or use incorrectly. In the right hands, it can be powerful. In the wrong hands, they're just cards.

Hmmm, this is an interesting question Karkaqueen. Been thinking about it..I think I would seek answers from the Tarot first, I trust my own hands though. But I've realized that Astrology makes it easier to interpret Tarot. IP: Logged |
