You won't verbally acknowledge when someone (a parent, or a sibling or someone that is very close to you) asks you to do something. Your silence means that you are going to do it.You don't see why you have to say yes am going to do it when it wasn't a question. The only times that you will say something will be when you aren't going to acquiesce to whatever is asked of you.

Only if you relate please.
I would like to know your mercury aspects.

Such an intriguing way to start a thread question.

I almost felt compelled to give an answer even though I do not relate to the description

mercury in cancer in 10th, trine to pluto in 3rd, opposite neptune in 4th, sextile asc in virgo - maybe this kind of "quiet acknowledgement" comes from the virgo influence, as it is the sign of service? or maybe the cancer (more listening than talking)

Interesting. So no saturn aspect huh?

Thank you for replying to my thread.

Would you react the same way in a work environment?

I don't like to give more than a nod of acknowledgement or a "sure" or "yes/yeah". Anyone close to me should know my intentions and whether I'll be able to deliver or not. I'm not a big fan of unnecessary verbal communication because most of it feels cheap. I know too many people who try to lather it on really thick and then don't do it or do a terrible job.

Merc in Cancer 7H
trine Moon
opp Saturn, Neptune, Asc

Completely relate. It actually annoys me in a way when someone asks me to do anything and expects an answer. It's like they don't know me well enough, like I don't matter as much to them, when they should know and do know me very personally. Hope that makes sense.

12th libra mercury sqaure Mars, Neptune, Uranus and mc. Trines Saturn and conjuncts my ascendant.

I relate - sort of.

I do this, but the catch is, it's only when I feel really resentful of whatever is being asked but as though I can't say no to the request (work?). I think that I a.) feel like it's futile to voice my objection because I'm going to have to do it regardless, and; b.) prefer to say nothing than to start an argument (that I will obviously lose).

I have Mercury in Taurus (8th House) sextile Jupiter and Venus, square my Nodal axis, trine Uranus and Neptune, and opposite Pluto.

I think I do it most when I am being ordered and it's my way to communicate to the other person that I don't like the tone, but will do the task. If the person whines about why I am not answering, I will still not answer. I do it when something is ticking me off, my answers then become monosyllabic. I will also do it when I am kinda harboring a mini grudge against someone. I do it to people I don't like to talk to.

But it doesn't mean I don't like words.

I usually say nothing either way, unless it's important that I let them know that I won't be doing it. I figure if it's something trivial, someone else will be able to do it.

But 90% of the time I do what is asked.. and I don't usually verbally acknowledge that I will, when initially asked.

This behaviour really annoys parents (of all signs). I have friends who have done the same thing in front of me - and their mother was like: "Are you going to do it or not?? Is that a yes???" They get so cray cray over it.. It must be an age thing lol or a 'frustrated parent' thing.
They're all the same.. I don't usually generalise.. but with this sort of thing 9 out of 10 parents will react in more or less the same way.

Another classic parental thing.. 'ordering' instead of asking nicely LOL Usually done when said parent is extra busy and has other things on their mind - and they're just not thinking.

I'm not sure how relevant this is, since I think this is a common parent/child dynamic... but - my Mercury is Pisces 18' deg, in the 10th house.. square Uranus (Sag), sextile Moon (Cap), large conj with Jupiter (Pisc).

I do this, too. Well, sort of. Sometimes I do say yes...but have a tendency to annoy my family by not responding to questions, often because I am just getting mentally prepared for whatever they asked me about.

I have a 6H sun and Mercury (service) trine 3H Pluto (often manifests as silence.) Sometimes it just takes me a while to respond...Saturn opposite Mercury.
