... and noticing them acting more like their moon sign/aspects instead of their sun sign? I think that once you get past a person's ascendant, you see their sun sign with hints of their moon sign, but if you get very close to them, you see them acting as their moon sign. For example, I have a friend who's Aquarius ascendant (conjunct Uranus), Leo sun, and Virgo moon (conjunct Virgo mercury). At first glance, he gets a lot of attention whenever he walks into a room, and his reactions are very exaggerated, they're almost comical. He gets along with strangers very easily. But once you get to know him, he's rather friendly and warm (in addition to Leo sun, he has Venus/Mars in Cancer). I've gotten extremely close to him in the past few months, and while I can detect other elements of his birth chart, he acts very much like a Virgo/Gemini. Did anyone else have experiences like this? I definitely agree. I have Taurus sun/ascendant and Gemini moon. Upon first meeting me and befriending me, I don't seem very sensitive at all. I seem like nothing ever bothers me (and nothing does, until I get attached to you). Once we get close, I'm very moody and temperamental. You have to watch what you say and how you say it to me because I'll more than likely take it to heart. Maybe that's also my Mars in Cancer, though. Lol. I think when you get close enough to anyone, you begin to see different sides to them.. So different placements and aspects will stand out more once there's a specific level of trust and comfort achieved. IP: Logged |

Moon sign trumps all, I also find Mercury sign to be strong too, as it shows how you express your thoughts.IP: Logged |

It also makes sense to me…and the aspects to the moon, sun and ascendant also!I think that is why it's hard getting close to me actually… I'm a cancer ascendant, so the first meeting, I'm very shy, but still chatty and smiling a lot (sextile sun and conjunction jupiter). Then when you get past the first meeting and getting to know me better, I'm a virgo sun conjunction mars, opposite moon, which kind of gives the impression of someone "cool" that likes to be active, but kind of nervous too. My moon is in pisces square uranus, opposite sun and moon and is overall afflicted. When you get really close to me, you experience how dreamy I can be, emotionally distant at times, and how hard it can be for me to cope with different situations. I can easily get hurt, and in general I'm a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, so it's not easy to be with me for a long time span, without being frustrated at some point lol! It's interesting cause my boyfriend is also cancer ascendant and pisces moon (and libra sun), but with different and more easy aspects than me!
His ascendant is kind of bad aspected though, and when first meeting him, he is very shy, not even presenting himself properly lol, and not very chatty at all. When he says something it can easily get misinterpreted, but he has learned his ways through the years… (it's square sun, venus and mercury)
As I got to know him, I experienced how a charming, cool and happy guy he is. (libra sun square uranus and neptune, sextile jupiter and trine mars) with such a good energy and so creative and original! I felt I could nothing but love this guy 
When getting even more emotional close to him, I really begin to feel his pisces moon with all it's nice aspects. He is much more controlled than me, he is always positive and though he gets emotionally affected like me, and absorbs the mood of his surroundings, he just have a nice energy and is not letting it affect him personally in the same way as me.
His moon is really good aspected, it's trine pluto, sextile saturn and quintile uranus very closely. A little wider square to mars, and a wider sextile to neptune. He seems to really turn the pisces vulnerability into something good, and it's also great for me to watch, cause it gives me hope that I can learn to be this way with my afflicted pisces moon:P (it sits in 10th house for both of us too)

You just get to experience all their chart, basically, instead of just seeing their ASC or Sun or Mercury or Venus, etc.It's like the whole chart becomes more alive, when you get closer to someone. I would in no way restrict it to the Moon only, or the Sun only, and not even to Moon & Mercury & Sun, or anything like that. It's really the whole thing that comes into play. We all express different parts of our charts depending on the situation, and when you really know someone well, you have access to all their placements and aspects. So you can see many, many different sides to them... That's why when you don't know someone very well, and you see only a part of their chart and like them based on that, but later find out more about them (other parts of their chart), sometimes you like them less, because you didn't see it coming. I once heard an astrologer say that couples shouldn't get married unless they've known each other for one year at least, because the Sun travels through the wheel and makes aspects to every possible thing in a chart, and you don't know someone well unless you've seen them go through the transit of the Sun for an entire year; the Sun "illuminates" the natal chart by transit, and brings to the surface all kinds of issues (aspects). I would say many times the ascendant points to what the dominate will be or one of the strongest which will show up in how they present themselves and go about their business, i.e. Aries riser=mars, Leo riser=sun, Cancer riser=moon etc.IP: Logged |

socialgraffiti I've experienced the same thing. When I don't know a person or just met them I see the ascendant. When I get to know them but when we are not that close yet I see the sun sign and with people I'm really close to I see their moon signs. And people have said the same things about me as well (even the ones who don't know about astrology did this. The way they describe me when they first saw me and after we met and after we got close totally fits my asc, sun,moon.IP: Logged | |
