Are there any aspects or placements that could possibly make someone always overthink things and possibly assume stuff about people as well? I tend to overthink and assume stuff, I 'assume ' that we should look at Mercury for something like this right?Mercury deals with how we think & communicate.. My Mercury just aspects too much in my chart, maybe this might be. I have: Mercury in Libra 9th house (very close to 8th)
Mercury Trine Uranus
Mercury Sextile Pluto
Mercury Opposite Saturn
Mercury Square Jupiter
Mercury Conjunct North Node ------------------

Gemini moon Mercury conjunct sun(which would be the same as having a Gemini moon) I agree Mercury and would say any soft aspects to it Virgo aspects Capricorn aspects I'd say more hard aspects IP: Logged |

Square moon (in Gemini)I think so much that I can't sleep.

Virgo Asc
Mercury in 11H trine Uranus in 3H
Mercury opposite Moon??
I also have Mars sextile Uranus that just won't let my mind nor body sleep Uranus and Mercury have tea parties in my head every day :-/ IP: Logged |

Me too, I don't get people who fall asleep instantly, I always use at least half an hour, and if something happened I can lay wake all night long….Libra mercury in 4th house

I am the queen of overthinking.Mercury in Scorpio retrograde natally. Mercury conjunct jupiter (Jupiter expands everything it touches)
Mercury in aspect to Uranus (I do not have this aspect, but Uranus might add a genius streak)
Mercury in the 1st, 11th or 3rd house? (Just an educated guess).

Overthinking is my second name. It caused some problems of indecisiveness, or staying stuck on one school exercise and being unable to move on before having an idea of why I can't find the answer (for instance). I control it better now, but I still have one issue or two, like taking a long time to fall asleep because of needing to think.But I don't overthink on everything either. Here are my Mercury aspects:
Mercury in Cancer in 9th house
Mercury conjunct Sun
Mercury trine Moon
Mercury opposite Jupiter
Mercury square Saturn
Mercury square Ascendant
Mercury conjunct Midheaven

My mercury sits with my sun in the 5th house of CapricornI'm very artsy, but way over think my "work". Usually to the point I'll never show anyone or destroy it completely.

Combust Meecury, esp in 3rd house.
Virgo Moon emotions are over analyzed and critiqued to death.
I would think an unaspected Mercury could cause that...no connection mentally to the rest of you to help ground and focus your thoughts....mercury works in overdrive....Heaven forbid it be retrograde!
Hard aspects to Mercury could lead to insecurity and over thinking.

A lot of people overthink... it's the nature of our minds.
That being said, the people who really, really overthink to the point of it being detrimental, probably have some Gemini/Virgo placements, a strong Mercury or Uranus (especially those two in contact); the ruler of the 3rd house in aspect to Mercury or Uranus, or in a Mercury-ruled sign...
Unaspected Mercury sounds like a good candidate, as well. Hmm there are probably many things, really. But those are the most obvious ones. I know the Moon actually stands for our mental state as well, so perhaps Mercury OR the Moon with said aspects/placements, would do that. IP: Logged |

I can't stop thinking, even when I want to. I actually can't even grasp the concept of not thinking. It does sometimes cause me to suffer from insomnia on nights when my mind just won't shut off. It's a blessing and a curse.Mercury (ruler of my 3rd house) squares Uranus (ruler of my 8th) by 1°.
Sun in Gemini conjuncts Venus (love of thinking) and squares my 3rd house Virgo Moon-Pluto by 1°. My 3rd house Virgo Moon-Pluto also Quintiles my 3rd house ruler Mercury by 0°. I know of someone with an 11th house Mercury in Virgo Earth singleton who's mind is like quicksilver. He catches every detail he sees. Fascinates me to watch his mind work.
