Topic: Aspect(s) for disliking compliments?

A novice question here.
What aspect (or aspects) could make someone have a strong dislike for compliments (or even feeling offended by them)? I'm not talking about self-pity, but rather having problems to make a difference between compliments and insults, or at least, having problems to accept compliments at all.IP: Logged |

I'm assuming it's something with the Asc/Saturn, you said in regards to a compliment. Most likely when you compliment somebody you are talking about the image or vibe that they give off (Asc). Saturn will restrict us if we have bad aspects with it. So maybe harsh aspects with Saturn/Asc will cause somebody to doubt themselves worthy of receiving compliments, Therefore, they look at you like you're crazy when you compliment them.But then again, it depends on exactly what you're complimenting them on.. How they handle their emotions - Moon/Saturn
How they dress, behave, manners - Asc-Sun-Venus-Moon/Saturn
How they speak - Mercury/Saturn Anyways, that's just my take on this.... ------------------

I was referring to any sort of compliment.
That sounds accurate enough to me: Saturn square Mercury, Saturn opposite Ascendant, Saturn square Sun. I heard Chiron could have an effect on that too. I have Chiron in Libra, in the 12th house, conjunct the Ascendant (among other things). Could this have the potential to give someone the wrong view of compliments? IP: Logged |

It to some degree also comes down to privacy, those that want to kind of blend into the background and go unnoticed don't particularly like compliments (in public at least) because we feel we have to engage when all we want to do is blend into the background and be left alone if that makes sense. To perhaps give some credence to the ASC/Saturn idea, I have the trine, and I am not a big fan of receiving (or giving) compliments.My Ascendant is in Virgo, though, so this may also be part of it, as Virgo is a very self-critical Ascendant. Where other people may see something appreciable, I feel that many of us only see how it could be improved. ------------------

Moon in Virgo 11th semisquare Venus and saturn in aqua 4th, I don't feel uncomfortable with comments, but I just find them useless because I don't want to attach myself to receiving complements = self worth, or usually I don't believe them when they say I look good I usually think its just general manners or pity. So I don't trust compliments, they don't effect me. IP: Logged |

You may be on to something here(with regards to Chiron). People who have Chiron in 1st house usually don't believe that they are pretty/handsome (even if people tell them that they are). This could be a psychological thing that they have in their heads that when someone does compliment them, they look at someone elses features-that they would like to have- and say;
"I'm not pretty/handsome, but that girl/guy(usually with the desired features that they would like to have)is" etc.

I am horrible at receiving compliments and I am famous for it. It's not because I am not used to receiving them because people keep complimenting me. It's not because I believe I do not deserve them because I know I do.But to accept a compliment openly and comfortably feels like boasting about yourself and that I don't like... I am double Cap.
