I've read through threads in regards to this placement and I guess there are mixed opinions on this placement.

I've read that they can be quite emotionally detached. Do you agree?

The guy in mind has his Mars at 0° Aqua. Would this make him express his Mars traits strongly or is it a weaker placement?

Would a Mars in Aqua guy be aggressive in his pursuit if he was interested?

Any insights appreciated

Edit: His Mars is sextile Jupiter in Scorpio and squares his Pluto and Moon in Libra.

I don't know any Aqua Mars people, so I'm pretty clueless about this placement, but any planet at 0° degrees is very strong, he is probably very typical Aqua Mars.

I have mars in aqua but I'm not a man .
I'm not sure if it would make a difference.

I make sure that he knows that I'm interested I am quite direct but I prefer to attact them to myself than actively chase. For example I met my current bf in a course 6 years ago and everyone in the course knew that I liked him because I was staring at him or watching him all the time, before we met each other. Once I had the chance to meet him I used every opportunity to get close to him . I make it crystal clear with my actions if I like someone. He was the first one to tell me he liked me though. I never care about what everyone else thinks, I'm very target oriented. I can be direct and tell them that I like them right away but I think it kills the excitement a little that's why I don't. Something a little bit tactical I guess.

Yes this is the impression I get from him. He is making it known he's interested but seems to like the chase and likes to feel chased.

I've read this a few times about this placement so there must be something to it!

Aquarius is not a sign of emotional detachment in the sense that people don't care...it's detachment in terms of objectivity.

An aquarius person will be up front and direct initially...but I also know aquarius people with two sides...beware of the ones who have not met the test of saturn.

(Check the fixed position as it could be in Pisces or Capricorn ) It's not the "Men are from Mars thing Women are from Venus" - Both planets have equal standing within the human being, Mars is the head and face then the body, known as Lahmu. Aquarius is the sign of the Man, the water bearer, physically Aquarius rules the Ankles, Aquarius is spontaneous, social, futuristic, into technology, happy, intelligent, random, odd, "out of this world", the Sun is just coming into the stars of Aquarius.

Mars doesn't correlate with any of the mental self, it's primarily your physical self - Mars would be the statue part of you, how you stand like a "Martian" on Earth, the physical self, as well as assertiveness and aggression but that comes with a mixture of Pluto, Mars in Aquarius means his head is ruled by the Ankles, it could be within Formalhaut which is the lonely fish (Check this as the royal stars are the most important within astrology). Aquarius, also known as Ganymede, was a Man who was perfect, he had no quarrels with how he looks, he has a bit of an alienness to him as he stands apart from everyone else, interested in the future and psychology

It seems to me like a lot of aqua suns/venus/mars guys will pursue you intensely and when you give in, get scared and hide. Of course by them you might be crazy for this guy but you gotta lure them out gently like a rabbit lol. Maybe not mars so much but commitment phobe because their love actually runs very deep and it scares them.

Thanks. This is food for thought.

He is a a Sag Sun conjunct Venus and Neptune too. He's charming but can be really shy. I get the impression that he wouldn't make a move until he is really sure he won't be rejected which kind of goes against the Mars in Aqua. Maybe it's the Neptune and Sun aspect causing a lack of confidence?

He has met the test of Saturn. I knew him a long time ago but now all communication has been online so I can't know for sure if he's changed. Because I know what you mean about the two sides.

Your descriptions seem to be true for him. He is very much stands out from everyone else and he thinks about the future a lot. He also is into psychology or at least enjoys figuring out how other people tick.

My man has his Mars in Aquarius. With this placement I find he is inclined to try anything and everything once. Although I do feel that, that inclination is amplified by his Sun in Aries.

With his Mars in Aquarius in regards to expression of feelings; I find he is detached because of getting hurt. He's been hurt in the past many times over. He has a huge heart, that he loves deeply with, and woman in the past have bruised and crushed it. Thus he expresses his feelings for me in direct and indirect ways, however he is waiting to express his deepest feelings until he feels more secure. Almost like he doesn't want to rush a good thing, doesn't want to push; but allow things to flow perfectly.

With the need for emotional security, I wouldn't be surprised if it is rooted from his Moon in Capricorn. Anyways with a Mars in Aquarius guy you have to understand that he will be expressive in ways that you have to look out for, or you may miss what he means.

He may say one thing, but his actions, facial expressions, or just expressions in general would show how he truly feels. They posses the sense of decoding, that they enjoy and want. It's the feeling of wanting to be understood, that underlines their expressions. They want someone willing to figure them out like a puzzle.

This sounds like my guy! (mars and venus I aqua).I sometimes don't know if he cares as he is away...but then he'll send me the sweetest message or send me a song which lyrics tell me all I need to know He does it when he feels comfortable.

I dated one, he came on strong and kept it up but at the same time I never felt any softness or tender emotions from him, he was very robotic in his expressions of feelings....even though he claimed to have deep feelings and said all the right things, it was the detachment that came immediately after that made me wonder if he really felt anything or was just saying words and stringing me along.

I went out with the guy in question years ago and that's how I remember it too. It's like every move is very planned out and carried out with caution.

Like I said I know this guy from when we were kids and we went out but I don't count it as a real relationship at all.
What I remember is that he was kind, caring and warm towards me but i don't know what he is like now.
I see the word detachment coming up far too much for my liking.
I am all about the passion and connecting with someone.

But this I can get on board with:

I love figuring things out and I much prefer a bit of mystery and chasing. That's romantic in my eyes.

Yes he will show his love in subtle indirect ways. Look out for the little things. The typical guy will bring you flowers, say the same things all guys say, hold your hand at the right time..., the aqua guy will randomly buy you a stuffed wolf because you mentioned it was your favorite animal in a fleeting conversation five months ago and he saw it at the gas station while filling up, he'll say things that aren't very romantic but are so different you'll know you're one of a kind to him, and he'll have a receipt from your first date pinned above his bed

Like sparkingsag said, he'll do it when he feels comfortable. Give him the space to do it, as in don't press him for emotional declarations, just let him come around to you. He always will. Aqua is a fixed sign after all, erratic but stable.

So beautifully said! You are right too, about their memory, I forget that he remembers everything I say until he brings something up weeks later or months later. It's the little things that count.

My male housemate has Mars in Aquarius, with Sun and Moon in Scorpio, Venus in Capricorn. He's a gentleman and very sweet!

He told me when he sees a classy looking chick he just has to talk to her and suss her background out..he's very innovative in the ways he tries to talk to women. He is very direct with what he wants and will do what he can to get her attention...

Let's just say I dated a Scorpio sun, mercury, venus guy w/Cancer moon and Aqua Mars

He definitely pursued me but it was very verbal/witty/sarcastic

When we did get physically close, he did seem very detached and almost like he wasn't interested. It was weird and ultimately the reason I cut things off.

I still respect him and think he's a nice person BUT my Leo mars didn't mesh with his Aqua mars lol. I read somewhere online while I was seeing him that Aqua Mars men can be the eternal bachelor and they're quite a-sexual or prefer online/phone sex to actual physical sex lol...

Just my little experience

Thanks this is insightful
And it's funny cos I've noticed he'll do this quite a bit. He watches to see what I'm interested in and will bring up something specifically to get my attention.
