Sun square neptune here (2'), my father (Gemini sun) while a great Dad and instilled a lot in me was not really much of an emotional presence in my life which was probably overly done by my mother. I liken this to Gemini energy, its not that he didn't care he just didn't relate on an emotional level which was fine since as a family unit I got plenty of this elsewhere. Plus an all up in your business emotional and emotional support type father I don't think is all for the better anyhow.

I have Sun/Neptune conjunction. I had an emotionally absent father and I had issues with that when I was younger.

I think I learned to differentiate the word "Father" from caregiver.

Did I have a caregiver? No

Did I have a Father? Yes.

People often make the mistake of thinking that parents have a divine 'understanding' of whom their children are.Seldom do they really. And we find this out painfully sometimes.

Over the years,I learned to see my Father more as an individual than someone intrinsically tied to me.

So my relationship with him changed to a more realistic level.I see that I really don't like the person he is.And I never really was supposed to.

I have Pluto square the IC too and I really don't like being around him at all. I feel stifled, suffocated and not "free". I prefer him from a long distance.

I think the IC,in my case, describes the relationship I have with him in more detail whilst the Sun-Neptune conjunction is generic.

There are some Sun-Neptune people I have met that have good relationships with their fathers. One guy I know visits his Dad often and they are very close.

Sun square Neptune (exact),my dad is always travelling for work and he has been in my life on and off. I don't feel particularly attached to him...
