Do you think the chart for the exact moment of the beginning of SR has a prophetic value? Does it determine the course of that period?

It depends on what you consider the beginning of the Saturn Return. Saturn, by its nature, is a "reward" planet, so I guess what's more important is what you do BEFORE your SR

Prophetic in what sense? What would you like to find out from SR in terms of a prophecy?

I'm curious whether this chart can show what the next 12th months (or however long the SR's influence is felt) are going to be like. Like the solar return.

Technically, the beginning of SR is when Saturn enters the sign of your natal Saturn and ends when Saturn leaves the sign. So, if you want a predictive value of that particular moment, you need to cast that chart. Of course, it is symbolic, as I was saying, SR is the result of all the years before it.

Then we can take a look at the actual SR chart (the exact conjunction). They say SR highlights the house your natal SR is in and the one it rules in your natal. I'm not sure how much I agree with this, if it's that restrictive, but we definitely need to compare with the natal Saturn, and the other transits as well.
