Well, let me start off by saying that I am highly water-influenced.

What I've noticed about air signs, is that contrary to popular belief, they do have feelings, they just show them differently.

Like I'm over here digging to get into the depth of their psyche, but air signs (especially Gemini and Libra b/c of their modalities) seem not to hide a part of themselves deep within, but at a distance. Which makes sense, since air signs are communicative and shift their personalities based on who they're talking with.

Does anyone else relate?

I'm a Libra with a Scorpio signature. Even though I'm Water-dominant, I agree with what you're saying. I have a hard time with expressing my feelings without analyzing them first, analyzing them while talking to other people about them, etc. I can easily shift my emotions and behavior depending on who I am with and I always have a very hidden part of my psyche that I don't let other people touch because a part of me is afraid of my own emotionality. I am often improperly guessed as Gemini for these traits.

I'm a water dominant air sign too. Well it's a split between water and earth on pullen because it only wins out by .5 percent lol. I think water sun people just kinda flow into their emotions and understand them without thinking about them. Fire signs feel an emotion and react, while water doesn't necessarily react. As for air signs they feel the need to really think about the emotion and try to make sense of it, pinpoint the source of it, and then think of how they should react.

I have cancer moon and I am moon dominant but I still spend a lot of time just thinking about my emotions. But I feel like that just spirals the emotions outta control sometimes so where I would have not acted out, I end up being forced to. Also a lot of aqua suns are very impulsive. They try to hide their emotions even from those closest to them, but every now and then there Is a leak of intense emotion and everyone's like wtf where'd that come from.

Though when it comes to emotions you really need to see the moon signs. When really stressed or when feeling a strong emotion people really become their moon signs.

I'm not scared of my emotions, but I think it's as foolish to put emotions in the driver's seat as much as it is to pretend they don't matter. For example, there have been times that I knew acting on fear and/or anger would make things worse so I put it aside, and other times I knew it was appropriate to show, perhaps even necessary, in which case I channeled (and expressed) it properly (even violently in very rare cases). I strive to let my feelings inform me but not control me, and I don't see a point in sharing everything I feel anymore than everything I think, especially as what I feel will likely change soon enough.

Just because people don't show their genitalia when inappropriate doesn't mean that they therefore don't have genitalia. Likewise, because someone isn't trumpeting their feelings or acting on them without impulse control doesn't mean that therefore they don't have feelings.

Feelings live in the moment, but we have to deal with the consequences, and the consequences of poorly chosen times to be controlled by emotion (this includes positive emotions as well as negative) will make us feel worse in the long run instead of better (and often don't even make us feel better in the short term either) so feelings do better to be channeled properly instead of haphazardly for their own sake (as well as for the entire person) as well. Heck, my Sag father was not just screwed by my mom in the divorce, but his inability to control his own feelings, it's one reason I blame him as much as her. He was weak. It's not weak to have feelings, it's weak to be controlled by them, especially when you should have the sense to realize when people are trying to use your feelings against you to make you do something stupid.

Yep, I relate and see what you mean. My Moon and Mars are in Gemini. I definitely have feelings, but I don't always feel comfortable with showing them, but of course doesn't mean I don't have any. They're both in 12H so I keep them under wraps a lot but I'm not one who ever appears really cold or emotionless, just shy. I definitely also shift my emotions/personality depending on who I'm talking to, nobody will get the same side of me as everyone else. I don't do it intentionally. I think it's just because I am well aware of that fact that there are certain people in your life who, whether only an acquaintance or someone close whom you interact with on a daily basis, you're not going to want to be intimate with as others or share certain things with.

It's like censoring yourself to fit in with your surroundings, to blend in, kind of chameleon-like. It's that adaptable, mutable energy and I think it comes in good handy to be that way so that you don't allow yourself to make mistakes like sharing something intimate with someone who is only a coworker, etc.

@sweet-scorpion: Yeah, I've noticed that air signs can be engaged in a conversation about one thing while thinking about it in a different way- multitasking masters, lol. But many air signs seem to be somewhat uncomfortable on the emotional plane, so I suppose analyzing is a way of coping with that.

@bansheequeen: I think your description is v. on point.
My situation is the opposite of yours... I have a water sun & ascendant, but my moon is in Aquarius. Yet it's also in the 8th house, and conjunct Uranus, Jupiter, and Neptune. I tend to be emotionally inarticulate when people first get to know me... but I'm pretty sensitive, actually.

@PixieJane: That's an interesting way of putting it. I suppose that's the difference between air signs and water signs- emotions are a physical sensation to me, so I can't really put them away. Your analogy between emotions & genitals doesn't really resonate with me because of that, lol. I've never believed that showing my emotions was inappropriate, that it just was.

I'm a Gemini with a water dominant chart. I think about my emotions a lot. I also think about my thoughts a lot, but who doesn't? At first I thought you were an air Sun dominated by water as well. I have more Scorpio within my chart than anything else. I can definitely agree with what you are saying. I don't know if you are a Cancer, but you have hit the nail on the head. You remind me of my friend, who is a Cancer. As far as having a gift at reading and understanding people. I've always found that truly fascinating the way some Cancers just have an adept way of reading and understanding people. Are you a Cancer Social? My Cancer friend tells me I'm the most emotional Gemini he's ever met. I often ponder about it, and I guess that's a good observation compared to other Gemini's I have met. Gemini's have a very emotional current to them actually just with their Sun sign alone. Which makes sense because they sit right next to Cancer as far as on the zodiac wheel. I've always pondered about Gemini's charm as well and have found many Taurus's to be very charming. Gemini's also sit right next to Taurus. I've always thought for some reason that Gemini possesses a charm from Taurus and Cancers (being the first water sign) possess an enhanced emotional ability to understand people from Gemini. It may be an odd way of looking at things but I just thought I'd point that out.... I need to get my mind off of things anyways... lol. Thinking for me is as much dangerous as it is beneficial for me. Here lately it has been more dangerous.
