In your opinion when is the best time to get engaged or married? Are there times when either is a definite no go?

Thanks

NEVER!!!! lolololol

Just kidding!

Are you referring to transits, time in respect to Saturn Return, age, or just in general?

Not sure, but I believe there'd better not be any retrogrades going on, at least when it comes to personal planets such as Mercury, Venus and Mars. I'd be a little wary with Jupiter and Saturn as well, although to a lesser extent. The outers are pretty much always retro (at least one of them at any given moment) so I wouldn't pay much attention to it.

Also, in terms of personal transits, Saturn usually points to important commitments. So I'd look for tSaturn in aspect to personal placements or in a relationship house. Maybe the DSC ruler would be affected somehow, either via transits or progressions.

Transits to progressed placements can have effect, too. Especially tJupiter and tSaturn.

Oh, right, you said "best" time...

Um, no idea.

But I think it's fairly wise to wait until your Saturn return is over. That's not a hard rule, of course, but I think the Saturn return can shake things up a lot for many people.

A no-no would be Uranus and Neptune transits.

Thanks for your responses. I was thinking just in general. I believe my Saturn return is over but I think I have Saturn in my Sun sign until October?

Would my transit chart tell me more? I don't know a lot about astrology

Does timing of engagement matter Or just the wedding? I heard never to get married during a void moon

You're welcome.

Are you planning on getting married?

I'd say the wedding date matters the most, but I'm no expert.

Yeah, I would agree with this. Have you had a chance to look at your progressions as well?

I've read to really watch moon and Venus.

We just got married. We looked at that chart but we were getting married regardless.

As it turned out.
Libra rising like both of us.
Venus in Taurus in 7th.
Mars in Libra 12th (we have 12th in everything else)
Moon in cancer in 9th (it's own sign and I have 9th moon)
Sun in Gemini

Anyway... Some hard aspects but they are aspects that we have elsewhere and handle so no biggie.

But I've read moon and Venus are important.

So would I take a chart of the day/time of marriage and then at the aspects of Venus and the moon in that chart?

I don't have an educated opinion, just experience.

Without being aware of astrology, I got engaged and married when tr Pluto was conjunct my Venus and my husband's Saturn.

Strangely enough we "randomly" chose a wedding date when the transiting moon, Venus, and Saturn were all conjunct.

ETA: Just checked the charts again..realized that if the birth time I was given is correct, that tr stellium ^ was conjunct my MC. Also that day, tr Juno was conjunct tr Pluto, which started all this craziness. Tr Mars conjunct our composite NN; tr Ceres conjunct composite Ceres.

More than 15 years ago, still married.

Also what I'VE read about Saturn return is that in your natal, if you were born during the day (sun above the horizon in your natal chart) then Saturn return usually brings blessings rather than hardship and obviously the other way if born during the night. (sun below the horizon in your natal)

I don't think that it's anything to worry about. People get married all the time before it and stay married, as well as people getting married and divorced well after their saturn return.
My opinion is that people worry too much about it as if it's the big bad wolf coming to blow their house down.
Just relax. LOL

^ There was a Saturn return thread a while back, and I was one of the few commentators who had a rough time with it.

It did shake things up for us, if only because life was altogether stressful. But marriage is always going to have its ups and downs. I mean, it's going to be tested eventually...

Congrats! I can't say for sure that I will ever get married, but its great in this day and age to see long-lasting marriages.

Yay! Saturn has done enough damage as it is- I'm actually looking forward to my SR. It doesn't seem that bad...I think.

I don't know how to read progression charts

That's okay! Try posting them here or in the personal readings section. There are more than enough people to help you.

Edit: Duh! Interpersonal astrology is probably better than personal readings because then you can get really great analysis on this.

Idk when the best time to get engaged is,,but I can share the tranaits going on when my fiance asked me

tJupiter seems pretty prominant..
Conjunct my Moon exactly (the apex of a YOD)
Sextile my Sun/Merc
Semisquare Venus exact
Quincunx Mars exact
While tJupiter was busy touching all my personal planets, my natal Jupiter was conjunct tNeptune, destin, groom, valentine and chiron in my 8H, all under 4 degrees...
tMoon conjunct my natal NN/Briede conjunction.
tSaturn was conjunct my IC exactly (also the apex of a YOD)
tSaturn and tVenus, like tJupiter, made an aspect to all of my personal planets, except my natal Venus.

tUranus was conjunct my Venus, while tVenus was opp my natal Uranus. Uranus is my 7/8H ruler

There was a venus/mars dw tMars quincunx natal venus and tVenus opp natal mars..

3 YODs, all of which activate one (at least) of my natal YODs.. tSaturn actually activates 2, quincunx my natal sun and moon (which are sextile) and sextile my natal mars, which is also quincunx my natal Moon. The last YOD has tUranus conj my natal Venus at it's apex and tMars/natal pluto at its base..

It was a super busy day for my chart astrologically!

Oh, something I found interesting, when casting the chart for the event, the ASC/DSC axis of the proposal chart is conjunct the composite DSC/ASC (respectively) axis of my fiance and I by less than 1.

Engaged when Jupiter conjunct my IC and Trine my Sun.......loosely trining my Desc. It happened first when I was a young twenty something and then again twelve years later. Different men. Both horribly abusive relationship and I did not marry.
