To be in a relationship with someone who has very heavy Pluto influence, to be battling with some Pluto-related issues yourself and to share some weighty Pluto aspects in synastry - is this just too much to bear in the long-term? Or can this be a recipe for intense understanding and transformation?

For instance, one of my partner's aspects is a tight Sun square Pluto. I have a tight Venus square Pluto. He has stated he is normally weary of women who show their jealousy (which I tend to do quite frequently) but with me he is somewhat understanding. Conversely with him, he is very defensive and careful to reveal himself and is also very insecure at times, which I am sympathetic and supportive of.

Would it be naive to think we could in some way help "heal" each other? I can see it becoming very exhausting. I am often drained in his presence because his intensity can be overwhelming at times yet it feels invigorating at the same time.

It is very exhausting but you feel like you can understand each others pains and hurts. So to me it's worth it. I have sun sq pluto too and it is very hard for me to open up to people. My therapist said I need to stop thinking everyone will hurt me

Both, in my opinion.

It's like a double-edged sword.

Well, I hate to beat down a dead horse here, but synastry with individuals makes a huge difference. One aspect, or several, can help tame it.

Can it be healing over time and not be exhausting? Absolutely.
The key is imo, well we're using the word healing. If someone is refusing to see a dr. for example, they clearly are not concerned about being healed. Or if a Dr. were to not care then the patient doesn't benefit.
All that I'm saying with that is that if neither is open to change, then change will not happen. I know Pluto is about transformation but that doesn't mean that it will. If whatever is not open to it will simply go crazy resisting it, or run away.

I have pluto in first conjunct asc. We have tons of it in synastry, mostly with mine, including a mars square pluto. MOST of the time, 99% shall we say, we actually get the benefits of that aspect and of pluto. Once in a while it's unpleasant but you know, we handle it very well and we're both VERY quick to realize the ant hill that the problem really is and how much we love each other.

The funny thing is though, I'm pluto for the most part in this relationship. But it aspects my asc (and hers, and many other things of hers.) Her venus on my Uranus and NN in Scorpio. I feel like she is really pushing me and helping me to transform myself. She's giving me the tools to change myself. Pluto in my first, wanting to transform myself, and as the first house and asc set the pace for the rest of the chart. I want complete change. Our synastry works that way. It's really quite a blessing and I'm open to change. That's critical. If whatever pluto is wanting to transform is not open to transforming... well then yes, it will be exhausting.
