Have you tried hitchhiking, and how was it? Was it easy for you to talk with strangers and did you like it?

Or did you ever let a hitchhiker join your ride?

And what is your relevant placements?

I'm a virgo, and I have grown very fond of hitchhiking. People are so nice and you can go so far - for free! You get some good talks and nice advices, and you meet all these different kinds of people…I have a lot of luck too, I have never waited for more than 30 minutes...

I promise I have no Sag in my chart, I don't know why I love to talk with strangers… I have aqua in 9th house, and NN in Aqua also in 9th house… My mercury is very afflicted, but somehow it is actually nice. I have retrograde libra mercury in 4th house, square jupiter, neptune, saturn and uranus.

I haven't tried hitchhiking (yet) but I'm glad you started this topic .

I'm a Virgo too without much of a Sag signature in my chart (only Jupiter) and I have Saturn in the 9th.

The idea of backpacking and hitchhiking across the globe is a hugeeee interest of mine and it's nice to hear and read about other peoples experiences. I don't think people are as bad as the media makes it seem (and honestly, to me I feel like the media likes to create fear amongst people so that they don't go out and explore what the world really has to offer).

Do you have a lot of Uranus/Aquarius in your chart? That might be a factor in being open to trying things that are "different".

I would never do it or pick one up.

Not sure what placement to give you..

I would however travel by train, alone, across the globe if I could.

No, I would never hitchhike as I have a strong 12th house, with a 12th house Mars so I need to be aware of my surroundings at all times, as this can cause trouble with strangers and secret enemies -- violence or aggression out of the blue. Not being paranoid, just aware. I also have Uranus and Pluto in 3rd and it can indicate the same thing involving travel and trips and weird occurrences.

But as far as me personally traveling by myself, no problem as long as I secure my own ride. I just don't want to deal with strangers picking me up. It's enough knowing that my chart has the potential to cause problems in this area so why push it.

I have Mars at end of 12H as well and Uranus in 3H. Gotta keep eyes open 360 at all times

Bad idea.

I think I did it a couple of dumb times. I wouldn't do it now unless I was at the end of my rope. I wouldn't recommend it to others. I have Mars in third square Pluto, cautious Virgo sun and Taurus moon. Careful, plodding Libra rising.

No they aren't, the people who are likely to pick you up are so openminded and have great stories to tell. Many of them are old hitchhikers themselves, or just would like company on their lonely trip
You should really just try it! I have hitched alone and with others, and I like both things equally.

Pullen says Aqua is my 5th strongest sign, and my Cap Uranus in 6th is square mars and moon in a T-square and also sextiles venus, opposites jupiter and squares mercury (but a wide orb)
So it is a very strong uranus, but also a very afflicted one But I have almost never experienced anything bad with strangest 9 out of 10 times people are nice to me

Bad, bad, bad, bad idea!

In this day and age you cannot trust anyone. I don't care if they have the cuddliest of cuddly faces, all it takes is one poor decision to enter a stranger's car and your life is gone.

I would never join some random dudes car, I only travel with people I find safe… and I am extremely paranoid! But like 99,999% of people is completely harmless… if I find a situation just a little frightening, I will not go!

Yeah, I think it all comes down to exercising caution and listening to your gut. You don't have to jump into someones car RIGHT away and I'd imagine you can usually get a good feel for a person by talking to them a bit beforehand. If something seems off then walk away or make some other excuse (if the person really seems creepy).

Although I've yet to travel solo myself, I've read and watched a ton of travel blogs/vlogs about solo women travellers and they ALL say the same thing that "the world is not as dangerous as everyone makes it seem" and there are still plenty of nice and genuinely kind people in the world.

You can get robbed/shot/etc. in any circumstance, but I'm personally not going to just stop living based on the "what ifs" in life. Funny enough I actually lived in one of the "most dangerous" cities in michigan and visit it frequently and not one thing has happened to me or my family (whose been there for decades). Yes you may come across a few "shady" characters, but theres a way to greatly prevent bad things from happening if you carry yourself a certain way and stay smart about everything.

Maybe I'm just too optimistic/idealistic :l ...

Anyways, Sun trine Uranus is my tightest aspect and Uranus is opposite my Moon and square my Mercury and (wide) trine my Venus.

As far as Jupiter: Its' quintile my Sun, trine Moon, sextile Venus, semi-sextile Mars, semi square Neptune, and bi-quintile my Asc.

Absolutely agree. I would never be so openly trusting as to pick someone up in my car or hitch hike. Even the nicest looking person, male or female, can have secretly evil intentions...

I hitchhiked once. The guy was great and I had a fun ride. After he dropped me off, I did my thing and started hitchhiking to get back. Thing is, apparently it was illegal (I didn't know that as I had crossed between states) and the cops stopped me when they noticed me on the side of the road....and gave me a ride home! lol the town i was going back to was about 1 1/2 hours away but once of them was going that route so he didn't mind. He was fun too lol.

I guess I was lucky and it was a dumb thing to do and I wouldn't do it again. I don't regret doing it however as I wish I could try everything once

I'm not sure about the placements. I'm a cancer sun/cappy mooner, tbh I don't find anything in my natal that would point to that (or most of the things I've done really). Maybe moon in 9th, but I doubt it's that strong.

I lived in Canada for some time. It seemed less hostile in terms of the people there, but at the same time, I still wouldn't trust to hitchhike in Canada or Europe, for the matter. I like the fact that like Canada, Europe is not gun-crazy...but who knows. I actually just read an article about a young woman who hitchhiked in Italy in the mid-1990s, and the two young men who picked up her and her friend drove them into an abandoned field and almost sexually assaulted them.

Not something I'd do (hitchhike), though I'd guess the more dangerous ones are those that offer you a ride (I got sexually assaulted that way when I accepted one at 15 as he seemed so nice).

But once in an emergency I just "leaped off the cliff" metaphorically speaking with the intention of hitchhiking from Texas to Los Angeles when I was 16. Friends dropped me off at a truck stop where I was expecting the worst (but still better than the alternative, even if I was murdered) but a trucker heading my direction let me come with him but he was kind to me and asked me for advice on relating to his college age daughter he was having trouble with. I was shocked how good I had it and we had some good talks on the way, I'd have loved to have had a father like him. He'd just bought me food and then dropped me off at the last truck stop telling me telling me that I-10 would take me all the way to LA.

I was certain that I wouldn't get another lucky break but I was wrong, I hadn't even gone inside when a guy my age basically introduced himself (it's more interesting in the telling but I don't feel like explaining the context so I'll skip it). He was there with friends, Deadheads, who were also going to California, though not LA. I was told I could take 101 down that way once I got to where they were going so I went.

And that was one surreal trip the rest of the way to California, and a beautiful experience I'll always treasure (stoned in the car, having to avoid Reno to avoid the warrants on one of them, a rare flood in the desert, eerie ghost towns, the snow of Mt. Shasta which was exotic to me at the time, and then the redwoods), even if they did make fun of my accent a lot (though it turned out they were fans of Janis Joplin--this was '99, but didn't matter to them--who had an accent much like mine but for some reason they couldn't hear it and ever since then I called my Texas accent my "Joplin accent").

It was beautiful and I ended up staying for a few months (did a lot of house hopping) until life took a tragic turn. So then I thumbed north in an evasive maneuver and an elderly couple picked me up who were obviously worried (I was 16, probably looked younger, and obviously battered even on my face) who told me I shouldn't be hitchhiking but didn't ask me what happened (I wouldn't have told them anyway). They warned me that because of the Supermax prison in the area that hitchhikers were not tolerated at all (once they dropped me where they lived). I figured I could walk it but as it was getting late (after some walking) I decided to go spend the night at a beach (with luck I might find a beach party and another ride north out of the county and state). But something wonderful happened instead.

They're memories I'll treasure (despite the bad). I thank my Scorpio Jupiter which is good for positive transformations, which is what that trip was.

I haven't thought much about picking up hitchhikers, I suppose I would (warily) if I had a car of my own, but I only had my own car for 8 months.

ETA: I think my Sag stellium loved the trip most, but my Cap Lilith (I think that's the asteroid, it's in cap whatever it is) makes me wary of the bad potential.

Screeeeeeew that...

I have Virgo mercury, Mars, and Venus. Pullen says Virgo is my strongest (Grrrrrr) and mercury.

Libra rising
Leo sun
Gemini moon

Uranus trine moon

Idk what it would really be astrologically.
I don't really like riding with people. If I'm driving then that's different but I wouldn't pick any up either.

I'd stop to help someone change a flat out something of that nature, sure, but that's where the line is drawn.
I'll scope them out first before I even do that.

i want to say eris is involed in the drive to hitch. mines conjunct mercury.

also the power to the person whod pick up, with my fear inducing situations pluto. mines opp mercury.

Never have, never would and I have a saggy stellium and 9th house Mars trine Uranus....it's to dangerous when your a female and small also.... Ppl are not looking to help you they are looking to see what they can get from you, at least that's not something I'm going to risk.

I have a 12 th virgo moon and it's probably the most opposed to hitching than anything else in me!

Really good points. Interesting, we have similar feelings and the same Moon sign. Except, mine is in the 9th. I'm SO careful and cautious about long distance travel and plan everything out to the last detail. The idea of hitch hiking is not only dangerous to me, it's insanely unpredictable and makes me nervous.

I like the idea of unpredictable journeys, and not having to plan anything A bit weird because I'm virgo, but I have a pisces moon and it's square uranus… I hate planning stuff lol

Will you stop being ridiculous about guns? Most men aren't going to assault a woman hitchhiking with a gun, and most men with a legal gun aren't going to use it to harm someone else on the road. I know my cousin gives people he doesn't know rides and he has a gun rack in his truck. Even if he did decide to rape a woman hitchhiking or if he and the boys decided to attack a couple of hippies on the side of the road then taking away his gun isn't going to stop him, and even with a gun he probably wouldn't use it in a crime (makes too much noise, and then there's the forensics to worry about).

Btw, a carload of boys did attack a guy I know, getting out of their car and coming at him with bats he pulled his revolver and told them to think about it. They did and ran. He shot no one. That meant his having a gun prevented violence whereas otherwise who knows what those boys would've done to him with their bats.

One county had the police give women free training in the use of guns and in that one county rapes (most rapes committed without a gun) dropped about 90% (though in part because the news showed several hundred women taking the course and the police encouraging the women to use their guns in self-defense).

And strict gun control in Mexico, Russia, and parts of the UK doesn't mean they all get along or don't attack and prey on each other, whereas Switzerland seems a friendly place even when you see motorcyclists with an assault rifle strapped to their backs. One of the friendliest states in the US is (or at least was) Vermont and guns are easy to get there and ubiquitous (most of the rare gun violence comes from drug smugglers who use the state as the people tend to leave them alone as the state with easiest access to guns isn't paranoid).

I don't mean this to say "guns are the answer" or "more guns means less crime" and I think many people here are paranoid and get crazy with guns and I consider the NRA a national embarrassment (btw, it's only about 5% of US gun owners who are NRA members, IIRC), but what you're saying over and over sounds just as absurd to me and plainly false, at least about how getting rid of guns would get rid of our violence and paranoia or that it would help people be safer while hitchhiking (or safer in picking up hitchhikers).

Yeah, having Moon-Uranus will certainly make you up for a sudden change of pace. I have Moon trine Uranus and I think the easy flow of the trine simply makes me more open minded to traveling and living long distance.
