i used to be addicted to playing video games lmao now im obsessed about fitness i can just be really obsessive over something i really enjoy or like it comes very natural to me i love to just dive in 200% im sure its my scorp sun with mars/moon pluto

i did about 25 famous bodybuilder birth charts and we all know to get your body to the level of a bodybuilder requires addiction/obsessiveness to achieve such size and one very interesting aspect i noticed that popped up on about 22 of the searches i did was that they ALL had mars/uranus aspects it was crazy i think mars/uranus can make a person addictive prone

For alcohol and drugs, you have to look for Neptune aspecting personal planets, and/or personal planets in pisces.
I don't think 12th house is related to addictions but it'ss related to things done in secret so maybe 12th house also, depending on the other aspects and positions.

Yes Neptune, Pisces, 12th house --these are the addictive components.

However Yin can lead to Yang, so if you are very rigid disciplined and strict, this can also bite you in the ass with an addiction. This is how I developed my lifelong eating disorder. So too much Virgo too much Saturn, badly aspected perfectionist moons can lead to obsession and thus addiction with food.

I am addicted to astrology and smoking lol! I have mercury square neptune by 0 degrees something. It's my tightest aspect, and I have pisces moon. Thank god I never did drugs… but I am able to stop smoking though, it is just hard when all my friends are smoking

Well, I would think that struggling with emotions would lead to addictions.

The addiction often begins as a way to avoid suffering, or as a misguided way of "fixing" a problem.

Obsession, however, as a personality factor, could look like addiction.

I don't have too much going on with Neptune, however, I have Pluto on the AC with Mars also.
I do become obsessed with things, and have a lot of energy reserves to fuel the obsession.
I'm sure I have appeared "addicted" to many things. However, there is no "helplessness" in my sense of obsession.
I doggedly pursue things I believe have value or usefulness in some way.

I think south node shows indulgences.

You should also check out the arabic part of addiction.

I think moon plays a big part too. Moon can show alcohol addiction.

Obsession is a scorpio-pluto-8th house issue.

I second this. My ex who became obsessed with body building to the point of taking steroids has Mars square Uranus. He also has Mars in the 12th house.

He was/is also I would say "addicted" to video games. He has Neptune contacts - Moon conjunct Neptune, Mercury square Neptune, Venus trine Neptune, Saturn conjunct Neptune and Uranus conjunct Neptune (Neptune in the 10th).

That's a lot of Neptune!!!! Getting lost in a fantasy land?

Am I missing something here? 12th house is Neptune, Neptune is the 12th house....

Addicts and addiction ARE ruled by Neptune/12th house!
Obsessions and obsessing are ruled by Neptune/12th house AND Pluto/8th house, it's not one sided.

Addiction comes mainly from Neptune I would say. I've seen too many Neptune placements that caused addiction for it not to be so, plus my own experience with addiction. I was addicted (psychologically) to Marijuana for a long time and have an addictive personality because I have Neptune in 1st conjunct Ascendant.

Though the Uranus Mars aspects are interesting with body builders because both are planets of energy and masculinity. Uranus creates erratic behavior with whatever it touches and when it touches mars, all physical aspects of life including weight lifting become electrified and unconventionalized. So unconventional that these men become huge from wanting to work out so much.

having mars sq uranus yes can see this aspect seeking a high/thrill, esp thro a punishing regime that could be addictive.

my moon-neptune feels escapist addictive tho whilst mars-uranus heightened reality and survival thing. also though it feels self-obliterating as in danger sports

You have a good point. Addictions are very much psychological. Yes there are physical addictions but to get to that point, it's all in the head. I've noticed neptunian people have obsessive personalities and a touch or more of OCD. A lot of substance abuse starts with the person believing the substance has a certain effect on them or will have the effect. I never really cared for weed because I never believed it to have that great an effect, so I never got too deep into it. But I've known a lot of people that say its so amazing and it just takes you away and personally I never felt that, I think because I just didn't believe in it enough.

My boyfriends a Pisces sun with Neptune in the first conj asc. He get psychologically addicted to things, but just as fast he forgets about the addiction when his focus is on something else. He goes from germaphobe to slob to pothead to health nut to bodybuilder to sleep addict it's insane lol.
