Hello
So I have an ongoing theory about the relationship between one's Moon & Mercury placement, and their sleeping cycles. So I am conducting a survey here on LL to see where it's going.

Soooooo, if you could list the following:
-Your Moon sign & House
-Aspects to your Moon
-Your Mercury sign & House
-Aspects to your Mercury
-Any other factors you feel are relevant
+ Info about your sleeping patterns
(e.g. *are you easily awoken or do you sleep deeply, *amount of hours on average, *irregular vs. regular sleeping pattern, *do you remember your dreams, *got any nightmares?, etc.)

As an example, I'll do myself:
-My Moon is in Aquarius, in the 8th house
-Conj. Uranus (exact), Jupiter, Neptune & sextile Pluto
-My Mercury is in Scorpio
-Conj. Pluto & Vertex, sextile Uranus & Neptune
-I have Cancer Ascendant & Pisces MC, 12th house in Gemini

+ I have a very irregular sleeping pattern, ranging from pulling several all-nighters to sleeping for over 12 hours. So it's hard to say how many hours I sleep on average, but I would say 9 hours/sleep. Yet when I do sleep, I sleep very deeply; I also dream quite often and keep a dream journal to record what I have remembered.

Now share yours

You also have Anaretic Mercury on the Vertex, and Venus and Mars out of bounds.

Hello!

- Moon in Gemini in the 12th
- Conjunct Mars, trine Saturn, square MC, sextile Mercury, sextile Eros exact, sextile Chiron
- Mercury in Leo in the 3rd
- Sextile Moon, sextile Mars, opposite Saturn, conjunct Eros, conjunct Chiron, quincunx Uranus
- Cancer ASC, Pisces MC too!

I also have irregular sleeping patterns too. Have for a long time, and used to attribute it to depression/anxiety. But now I think I just truly am a night owl, and I usually feel more comfortable and clear-headed at night. I can sleep for 10+ hours if I have nothing going on. I typically go to sleep by about 3 a.m. I have no issue setting an alarm and getting up at a set time if I have to though.

I'm a light sleeper for the most part and I get awoken easily enough if there is noise. But I sleep alone in my apartment so typically I'm not awoken by anything during the night.

I've been known to experience vivid dreams, but it is not a regular thing. I used to remember my dreams so often, now not so much. There have been countless times I have dreamt about either something really crazy and intricate, or really disturbing and scary. I've had a few dreams here and there about things like exorcisms (even having one myself). I don't think I've ever woken up panting and yelling from a nightmare, but when I have one it totally affects me once I awake, and I'll just feel super disturbed and uneasy. I can recall at least once in my life having a prophetic dream that came true the next morning, but it was nothing bad or scary, just something at school.

I will actually say that I am a tad afraid of the dark. Not overwhelmingly so, and I don't like sleeping with the tv on and I don't like lights. But I just am for some reason. Ever since I was little I always felt comfortable sleeping with my door wide open. I know most people have to sleep with theirs closed lol, but I always felt safer that way.

I've already written a bunch but since we're talking about sleep anyways, the past 3 nights I have had bad dreams, and I typically don't experience nor remember them much anymore so it's kind of weird to me. Hoping I don't wake up with another one lol.

Hi Ellyn! Yes I recall the Anaretic Mercury... it's given me a bit of trouble. My Venus/Mars are conjunct... but what does 'out of bounds' signify?

(P.S. Mind sharing your Moon/Mercury? )

Hey, you sound a lot like me! Like, to the point where it's sorta crazy xD

I also like being awake at night, and enjoy going out in the dark. Day time= nap time for me

Sorry to hear about the bad dreams I think it's the full moon, perhaps. Maybe with your 12th house energy, you're extra sensitive to transits?

I've also had a few pretty terrible dreams, but they usually deal with some current issue that I'm dealing with or some horror story I read... But yeah I remember the one of the other threads (the astro-family one), where you commented that you experienced déjà vu as well! (sorry for not responding, I have to find it. I'm a bit scatter brained...)

I am also afraid of the dark... but not afraid to admit it. (I also sleep with my door open as well. I like to think of it as an escape route)

Not including asteroids because I am still a novice.

- Pisces Moon in 5th house, conjunct 6th

- Moon trine Sun/Mercury/Midheaven, square Venus/Mars, sextile Jupiter

- Cancer Mercury in 9th house

- Mercury conjunct Sun/Midheaven, trine Moon, square Ascendant/Saturn/Chiron, opposite Jupiter

- I usually fall asleep around midnight, or 4am on breaks (computer light messing with my internal clock obviously). I sleep for 10 hours on average, sometimes 12, sometimes 9. I rarely remember my dreams or have nightmares, however, when I do dream, it is little more than just a continuation of my thoughts during the day, and even if it doesn't use the right imagery, I generally know what my dream meant and what problems I was subconsciously trying to solve. So, no dreams of six-legged unicorns swordfighting with Napoleon for instance, and no premonitions either. It's more like my imagination and my mind work together to discuss and solve what I was thinking of and feeling during the day.

Edit: Forgot to add that I'm constantly thinking and my mind goes all over the place. Sometimes I think myself to sleep (which seemingly reflects in the dreams I remember having), sometimes it keeps me up all night. I have Mars and Venus in Gemini, I kind of blame it on that.

Moon in Pisces in 10th house
Moon opposite Sun 5
Moon opposite Mars 2
Moon square Uranus 2

Mercury in Libra in 4th house
Mercury square Neptune 0
Mercury Square Jupiter 2
Mercury square saturn 2
Mercury square Uranus 8

Other facts:
Sun in Virgo, stellium in 6th house and virgo mars.

I suffer from insomnia and have periods where it is hard for me to fall asleep at all. Other times I sleep like a rock, and nothing awakens me. I usually sleep for 4-5 hours, then wake up and have to pee lol, then sleep again for another 3-4 hours.
I have nervous dreams, it is 80% nightmares and 20% weird **** . I never dream about good normal stuff. I usually have dreams that is so dramatic it wakes me up in the morning. I usually remember my dreams, but I can have periods where I don't dream at all (and these are the more relaxing periods)

When I sleep together with other people (friends or my boyfriend) my sleep tends to be more stable, and I don't have as many bad dreams and I sleep better when together with others

~ 0° Capricorn Moon in the 1st House

~ Conjunct Ascendant,
Trine Sun/Mercury/Chiron,
Square Mars,
Sextile Saturn.

~ 0° Virgo Mercury in the 8th House
Conjunct Sun/Chiron,
Trine Moon,
Opposite Saturn,
Square Pluto

ASC Sagittarius, North Node in the 12th house, Sun in the 8th, 12th house Ruler conjunct Mars & square Neptune/Uranus

My sleep pattern is pretty regular I think, During the week I usually go to bed around 11pm and listen to music before I sleep to help me relax and process the day a bit, if I don't listen to music I have much more trouble sleeping.
During the week I usually fall asleep between midnight and 1am.
I sleep very deeply and I get pretty annoyed if someone tries to wake me up during my sleep haha!
I am pretty active in my sleep though, since I was about 10 I've been having this weird thing were I wake up and can't breath.. really scary.
And since last september I've been turning lights on in my sleep.. and also running out of bed and then standing next to my bed thinking "wth am I doing".

so yeah I'm a weirdo! but sleep really fascinates me! I've also been trying to get lucid dreams for a while but it hasn't worked so far, I always wake up when I know that I'm dreaming because I get a little too excited lol!

Moon: Capricorn in the 7th (8th cusp)
Moon square Sun (6')
Moon sextile Mercury (0')
Moon quintile Pluto (0')

Mercury: Pisces in the 10th house
Mercury sextile Moon (0')
Mercury conjunct Jupiter (8')
Mercury square Uranus (3')

12th: Gemini/ Chiron in Gemini
ASC: Gemini/Cancer cusp... Pisces MC

My sleeping patterns are changeable but I always go through long stretches of time when they are consistent. There is a means to my madness lol
So for like a year I could sleep from 11-ish pm to 6am every night.. and the next year I might barely sleep at all.. or have some other pattern.. like sleep from 12am to 3am.. *wake up*.. sleep again from 4am to 7am.. Whatever the pattern is it lasts at least a few months - and then changes.
But my sleeping pattern doesn't normally change from one day to the next lol

I am definitely not easily awoken. If I'm really asleep - nothing and no one can wake me up .. unless I naturally wake up myself. It's next to impossible to get a reaction from me. I've been told this by many people.
I almost always remember my dreams.. and seldom have serious nightmares. I have interesting, long - movie-like dreams. My dreams are really awesome actually. I also have Mars conj Neptune so I can get lost in my dreams, in a good way.

Gemini Moon in the 5th:
-Square Venus
-Trine Mars
-Quincunx MC

Retro Pisces Mercury in the 1st:
-Conjunct Sun exact
-Conjunct Saturn exact
-Conjunct Venus
-Square Pluto
-Opposite Vertex and Chiron

I usually sleep quite late. For the past month and a half I've been sleeping anywhere between 4am to 7am (I have nothing to do). I can only sleep when I feel beaten down or exhausted. I'm an extremely light sleeper but not a paranoid sleeper. If I have to wake up at a certain time, I usually wake up before my alarm rings. Even if it's just 2 minutes before it's set; this always happens to me. I'm programmed to wake up at the time I need to wake up, regardless of how long/little I've slept. I wake up in the middle of my sleep a few times. But I sleep anywhere from 5 hours to 10 hours. It depends on the environment but usually when I sleep for long, it's because I woke up earlier but force myself to sleep again since I have nothing to do. The issue with that is that it really messes me up and makes me feel so fatigued when I come to wake up.

Fun fact: My friends are always amazed at how I sleep with full make up on and wake up the next day with it perfectly put. No smudges anywhere, as if I hadn't slept. Even the lipstick is perfectly put. I don't move in my sleep nor do I snore or hog covers and I'm not a kicker or anything. I sleep on the very edge of the bed (even when I'm alone) so I hardly take up any space. People love sleeping next to me for those reasons!
According to my best friend, I have spoken gibberish a few times in my sleep.

Oh and I remember my dreams if I put a conscious effort in doing so.

Moon in Gemini - 9th House
Conjunct MC
Square Asc
Square Mercury
Square Mars
Sextile Sun

Mercury in Virgo - 12th house
Conjunct Mars
Conjunct Venus
Square moon
Trine Jupiter

When I am asleep, I feel that I sleep well. I require around 7 hours of sleep.

I do remember dreams often enough. They are usually bizarre with no possibility of ever occurring in real life. Very abstract but sometimes violent. Usually I'm presented with some kind of threat where violence is spurred on by a fight or flight response.

I have a HUGE problem actually going to sleep. My mind keeps me awake. There are three things that I do to control this.

I take a sleep aid every night
I force myself awake at certain times - If I'm tired and sleepy.. tough. It's time to get up.
I listen to music. Music of almost any kind will relax my mind. Even if it's extremely busy music, it doesn't matter. It will relax me. While listening to it I often escape into a fantasy.
I reach a point that half a song has gone by and I hadn't realized that a new song was even on. I know I'm sleepy enough, turn off the music, and get into a comfortable position. Off I go.... ZZZZzzzzzzz

Oh, I'm also the person who wakes up before the alarm almost EVERY SINGLE TIME, regardless of when it's set.

Haha, that is crazy then! But pretty cool. Yep, there's just something about the night time isn't there?

Thank you for your sympathy I was actually thinking the same thing too, with that crazy but beautiful Moon we had.

Aww, no worries about not commenting! I can be so scattered-brained a lot of the time too, must be that Gemini energy haha. Dreams are so intriguing. I will sometimes have dreams that reflect current waking life issues too.

Yes, an escape route!! Haha. That's a good way to explain it.

- Gemini Moon in 8H
- trine Mars, Sun, Mercury
- quincunx Uranus, Neptune

- Mercury in Pisces in 4H
- conjunct Sun, Saturn, Venus
- square Pluto, NN
- opposite Chiron

I have an irregular sleeping pattern. I sleep around 6-10 hours. I sleep deeply. It’s very difficult to wake me up, I have to set 2-3 alarms if I need to get up at a specific time. I’m known for shouting, kicking in sleep. I used to play a lot of soccer when I was young and I’ve heard, I used to raise my hands up in the air and scream “GOAL!!” while sleeping. I’m completely unware of it though. I also wake up in very different positions from the ones I sleep in. I can remember my dreams if they’re impactful, otherwise I don’t care much about them. I’m also a lucid dreamer.

Okaayy, seems fun.

-Virgo Moon, 1st house
--Neptune & Uranus trine Moon
--Venus opposite Moon
--Mars quincux Moon
--Moon conjuct ASC
-Aquarius Mercury, 6th house
--Mars conjunct Mercury
--Pluto & N.N. square Mercury
-Chiron in 12th (I hope that's relevant. 12th rules dreams and sleep, right?)

+I am usually easily awoken, but there is certain period of time while I'm sleeping where apparently I might answer someone while still sleeping.
+6 or 7 hours on average, during school? Sometimes more? I really don't know
+I usually remember my dreams. I get nightmares sometimes, but it's infrequent.
+Irregular sleeping pattern. I think it's always been that way. This summer, I've been going to bed when the sky starts getting lighter.

I often have 'weird' dreams. Now, I know ALL dreams are weird, but sometimes, they are just too weird. When was in HS, I had a couple of dreams where I was beating up EVERYONE in the school, lol. I also had a dream involving a red dragon that would blind you if you looked directly in his eyes without permission. I love talking about dreams. When I was like, 5, I had a 'dream' where a vampire bit me and took a HUGE semicircle shaped chunk out of my neck.

It has always been really difficult to go to bed at a reasonable time. Waking up early is difficult, too; I've turned off the alarm in my sleep plenty of times.

I don't move when I sleep, usually.
Maybe TMI, but if I start drooling in my sleep, I end up waking up, wiping it off, and going back to sleep.

I sometimes get sleep paralysis, but THANK GOODNESS that's pretty rare, now.

Cool idea!

1. Moon in Virgo, H9 - Moon conj. Chiron, trine Uranus-Neptune, sextile Venus-NN

2. Mercury in Scorpio, H11 - trine Saturn, sq. Mars

3. Other info: I'm an extremely light sleeper. I sleep with ear plugs every single night and I have for 5+ years. I am restless and move around a lot in my sleep. My dreams are highly symbolic and 80% of the time, tell me something about the future, someone's true intentions, what's up with my psyche, or the next day's events. I remember almost all of my dreams. My dreams are like abstract films and they are usually very vivid in detail, color, and emotion.

I don't tend to get classic 'nightmares' but I do have an occasional disturbing dream because of what it implies for my reality. I have a problem falling asleep early that has persisted since early childhood. I love to stay up late and I am productive at night.

- Moon in Capricorn in the 4TH House
- Moon Conjunct Neptune
Moon Opposite AS
Moon Square Mercury
Moon Trine Saturn
Moon Trine Mars
Moon Semisquare Pluto (I have a lot!)

- Mercury Retrograde Scorpio In 4th House
- Sun conjuct Mercury
Mercury square Neptune
Moon square Mercury
Mercury Injunction MC
Mercury semisqaure Venus
Mercury Biquintle Jupiter

+ I'm a late night sleeper unfortunately, and I really suck at getting up in the morning. I can't sleep immediately but I usually listen to music before I sleep. I take naps usually if I feel very tired. I have nightmares and I feel sometimes they come true, or if I watch something scary on TV they immediately cause nightmares at times, I would wake up breathing heavy and once I screamed my moms name.

Okay, thanks everyone for responding!

Here's what I've gathered so far:

-Earth moons typically stick to a regular sleep cycle, except for Virgo Moon, which seems to be highly sensitive to the surroundings and may have trouble falling asleep

-12th housers/Neptunians seem to have very vivid and powerful dreams, which can be very abstract or violent and seems to be dependent on transiting planets. Their control over their dreams depends on how the Moon/Mercury is aspected (for example, if it has a lot of trines or is conjunct the Sun, they will have more control over it than if it had a lot of squares/oppositions or conjunct a more erratic planet like Mars or Uranus)

-Major aspects from Uranus to the Moon can make a person high-strung. These people often wake up suddenly, but they are fully awake when they do so.

-People with mercurial Moons (Moon in Gemini/Virgo, or have hard aspects to their Moon) usually are light/fidgety sleepers. The exception to this case would be if they had a trine to Pluto or had the Moon placed in the 8th house.

-Water Mercuries often analyze their dreams and can easily deduct what their subconscious is trying to say. The most likely candidate for lucid dreaming? They catch onto the symbolism easily.

How'd I do?
