The obvious one would be an afflicted Moon, showing someone not very in touch with their feelings, who believes they can just walk away.

If not that, you would be looking for signs that the mother does not feel secure enough in her own ability to support a child financially, if she's in a situation where she can't get help and needs to rely on herself. So maybe problems going on with the second house.

That would be a good clue, I think.
Do you have any specific person in mind, or any charts we could take a look at?

My mom gave partial authority to my grandmother. My grandmother became a legal guardian when I was around age 8. My mom was in an abusive relationship and even more self-centered than she is now...she had me very young. My grandmother took legal guardianship because I hated my step dad, she wanted to live with him but I didn't. A very difficult situation, though I have learned to forgive.

I have Moon conj. Chiron, and her H1 Moon in Leo squares H5 Uranus in Scorpio. Pluto sits near her IC. I feel, in a way, that my mom always struggles because she focuses too much on herself, and that didn't stop even when she had me. Not saying she didn't love me, but she was an erratic parent. I've been very angry at my mom in the past for her inability to sacrifice what she wants for the sake of other people. The aspects we have are very telling to the circumstances that occurred.

It's really hard to say. I'd guess it has to do with house placements & Ascendants and such.

I know two women born same day/year (read: same solar chart). Both had three kids, with the first of their children born the same year. One grew up without her mom, separated from her siblings, and a here-today, gone-tomorrow father - this one accepted her responsibility and made a home for her children.

The other one grew up in a traditional home; parents were married, older sister, younger brothers full-on family support. This one was a selfish me-me-me brat who really didn't want to deal with raising kids. At the first opportunity she moved away to make a better life for herself - without her kids.

There are a lot of parallels in their lives, both started having children as teenagers.

I suspect there may be a spiritual element involved as well.

sweet-scorpion, what a painful story and thank you for sharing. I suppose the Moon squaring Uranus didn't want to deal with any responsibilities or feel hemmed in by anything. Playing out a daily routine was probably too much for her to handle in some ways. I think this placement would also just attract change for the sake of change too - seeking out new experiences and trying to discover new & exciting things fairly constantly. However, you seem to have come out the other side and have everything together.

You're welcome. I feel like sharing and being open about difficult times allows me to heal. The way you described the aspect and how it'd play out for my mother is very accurate. She never really likes having a daily routine. She can't hold a job easily. If she does, she complains incessantly. She was always a thrill seeker just for the sake of it. And parenthood never suited her, and it still doesn't. She lives for herself. Not that she doesn't care about me and love me, since she absolutely does - but she can be very erratic and changeable to the point where I wonder if I really do mean as much as she says I do. However, life is too short for bitterness, so I've forgiven the past.

A frequently found aspect in the child's Natal is Moon conjunct Uranus.
The tighter the aspect, the earlier the separation.
