Hello friends!

I have Mars in Aries in the 12th and I've been musing over it. Opinions I have heard are -

Mars in 12th has Karmic significance
Hidden talents related to Mars
Some say there is some self doubt linked to Mars in this house

Please share with me any other knowledge you have on this combination!

Weeeeird, we both posted about Mars in the 12th almost at the exact same time! I'm an Aries Sun BTW. Odd, or no? 😆

Mars in the 12th means the expression of anger and our drive is weakened and one of our issues in life. The 12th house has also been said to be our own blind spot. So others can see (for example) that we are angry or want something, but we, consciously, don't know what our "tell" is to giving that away.

Having Mars in the 12th is kind of like having Mars in Pisces. I always felt a very, very strong physical connection to those with Mars in Pisces. I also noticed all of us were tall and large, so perhaps this placement makes someone somewhat of a gentle giant?

Can't wait to hear what others say.

I saw! I read your post but I couldn't think of anything to add. Maybe as you said this is our blind spot?

I agree with what you said about the tell. I recently learned my own tells from a friend. Apparently my lip quivers a bit as if I'm holding back something nasty.

I can't relate to the Mars in Pisces solely because I haven't experienced anyone with that placement yet so I don't know what it's like!

All the stresses in my natal chart go to my Mars. I had a very bad temper when growing up. It's under very good control now though. I believe it's because even though I have 4 stressful aspects to my mars the tightest aspect is one from Jupiter looking at it in a beneficial way. I believe the right Jupiter aspect allowed me to grow. So I think the 12th house stifles the expression of anger or the self but perhaps the negative aspects overcame that, and then Jupiter overcame those aspects.

My drive remains random. It is very up and down. Only in extremes though. I'm either on the up up or I'm doing nothing!

As for my appearance - I have a Taurus ascendant and I fit the bill for the most part. Medium height, full features, a tendency for some pudge (not anymore, but younger). Though I am slightly more of an athletic build than other Taurus ascendants and that may be credit to the Mars in Aries? Technically, for my height, my frame is large but just not as thick as other Taurus Asc I've seen.

My ex husband had Mars in Virgo in 12th conjunct the Sun and Venus; he had an explosive temper, but it took long long bouts of holding it in and then suddenly, he would explode and it would get incredibly violent. I never knew who to deal with somebody with that type of anger; calculated, brewing anger. It didn't help that In synastry, his Mars(6,54')was conjunct my Moon(29,21') in 12th house. It was an explosive, but incredibly abusive relationship.

I totally agree about Mars in 12th not being able to effectively communicate anger-I was the one asking what's wrong, or "are you okay, let's talk it out" because I literally could feel the energy getting more and more negative as time went on, and I kept trying to help him find a voice or an avenue to express his feelings to me so these outbursts wouldn't happen. Most of the time his response was "I'm fine, or I'll be fine", but you can tell he was waiting to release it...he did have those gentle giant moments when I would look at him like someone so wounded and fragile. Sometimes, it was like looking at a prisoner from a tower because he built these walls up, but you can tell he was ultimately enslaved by himself.

Ironically, I was the Mars in Pisces in 7th house AND a 12th house Moon in Leo, and I was often the one that encouraged action, progress, counseling because I learned early on to either communicate my feelings if they were important to me, or suck it up and keep moving. As far as being a gentle giant, I'm 5'10 lol and pretty unassuming, even when I'm angry. In fact, people think it's cute when I get upset and underestimate how angry I am sometimes. I'm like" I'm really angry and I'm not playing around right now", but then I put myself in the person I'm mad at shoes, and realize I probably am making them feel horrible yelling at them, and next thing you know, I'm calm and apologizing to them. Mars in Pisces is such a people pleasing, pushover aspect vs Mars in 12th.

It's tricky to differentiate these placements without getting them mixed up, but here is an understanding I've reached;

Mars is like a pair of scissors. Once used , the scissor must be put away in a safe place -lest children get a hold of it.

Mars is a planet one must use minimally to "do" or "get" something. Then it must be put away.

If Mars is on any of these signs;Capricorn, Aries and Scorpio. It can present a few problems in real life

Reason being is that the scissor(going back to the analogy) is said to be at its "sharpest" in these signs.

So these people have to make a conscious effort to not let Mars interfere in any other areas of their life where it will be detrimental i.e when disciplining children, when having a disagreement with a partner or when driving in busy traffic.

1.So Mars in Aries is prone to hectic displays of anger.

But when that Mars in Aries is aspected by Neptune -by square, conjunction or trine. The person finds it difficult to know what they are angry about, who they are angry at and the anger can be heavily misdirected.

2. So say Mars is in Pisces with no aspects.

Here Mars can have less than desirable negative traits of being prone to passive aggressive tactics, bullying others, undermining others, sabotaging others, playing the victim etc.

But it is not as severe as the Mars positions mentioned above- because the aggression is not sustained.

3. Mars in 12th house may seem, on the surface, very similar to the positions above. But it is not-in reality.

A person with Mars in Capricorn in 12th loses none of the Mars in Capricorn exalted energies.

What happens however, is that the person finds that she just is not comfortable expressing these energies openly. That they are better expressed privately- without the imposing eyes of other people.

So this is a person that seems very calm and collected to other people outside but is a tense storm to their family. Just ask her husband and children how she behaves at home

Its no coincidence that Mars in 12th is associated with people who can be very abusive. But these are extreme cases.

A person with mars in Capricorn in 12th may look for a private place to express the energy. But the Mars in Capricorn position does not lose its potency. Not at all.

OMG, this makes me feel horrible because it's so true. So basically anyone with Mars in 12th is fine as long as you don't live with them. I was a WRECK at home when I was younger. Now I don't think I'm as bad because I've matured a lot, but damn.

Mars in Gemini, so you can imagine all the buttons I could push.

I'm terrible haha.

I can't imagine the tough times my parents have with me. I can get really angry at times and just break everything.

What's else is that I also have Mars square Neptune.

My Mars is in Scorpio and my Neptune is in Aquarius.

My anger is misguided, I either don't get angry at the right time or I just BURST, and I mean burst.

I can get really angry in the right circumstances but usually it gets repressed and tucked away. I have trouble asserting myself and I have trouble asserting my boundaries. I'm trying to work on this consciously...

Not getting angry at the right time...that's so true for me!!!!! I always thought my delayed response was because of my Taurus moon, but maybe not.

Not getting angry at the right time or with inappropriate levels of anger for the situation followed by the tinge of guilt? Yea, sounds about right.

Another thing I've noticed is I can be really lazy... I can be really unmotivated but then everything changes and I become really motivated.

I also HATE doing sports amongst others. I prefer to do it in solitary or with one or two close friends. I like to do 'Martian' things alone.

I was too. Mars in 12 in Libra. I still explode mostly at my mother and my older brother. less so with him. But my mother gets the brunt of it because I have a very difficult time dealing with her.

Less so also with my ex husband because he was very easy to live with. But I did sometimes unleash.

Me too! But I think Mars in Libra also makes so indecive some times that I become paralyses and can't move. So it can I do nothing instead of the potentially wrong something.

Mars in 12th for me means you are your own abuser, you turn your anger onto yourself internally or sometimes physically, as in cutting, extending your body in harsh ways, not taking care of yourself. The person can cause harm to themselves mentally and physically depending on aspects and sign.

Mars here has internal strength, much resilience and creative powers, this can be a good combination for people who are highly independent and need to rely on their own wits -- researchers, explorers, survivors, artist, soldiers.

Mars in Sag in the 12th house conjunct Neptune...

- In my early adolescencyears, I used to cut myself, write " hate this life " type of things and I still carry the marks of cigarette burns..

- it's true with my family I can fly off the handle- violenlty angry quiet easily... In the social scene I don't remember myself shouting to anybody. nor fighting with anybody.. But when I am angry, I don't have to do anything I will send you the vibe and you will understand it... When I am walking outside, on a bus, in a metro etc I usually have no control of my frustrations; today a girl was holding her phone in her hand, checking the latest news or whatsoever, walking toooo slow and right behind her us people queing so I made a quick pass by hitting her.. I do such things quiet often...

I am 45 kilos by the way !

- People say I am a good dancer... I move like as if I am underwater..

- I do have a veeryyy active imagination, but can't make good use of it. Drive & discipline is a sore point. I fantasize it, I feel it as if I really did it sometimes that's enough

Once I read somewhere was a great description for Mars conjunct neptune; mars beats the hell out of neptune, neptune dies mars is left without inspiration; neptune throws acid to mars, mars dies neptune is left without motivation...

So what about men with Venus in the 12th or Venus in Pisces?

Virgo Mars conj Asc, parallel Pluto and sextile Uranus.
The aspects are exact except to Asc which is 2 degrees.

Always been very sporty and I love to dance!
Nosebleeds galore and always hit my head.
I suppress my anger because I know it won’t be a pretty sight if I don’t. I recall this one time I had taken bike on the bus. As I had reached my destination and taken bike off rack, I walked across the bus parking and got stopped by security. He said I couldn’t do that and had to walk back, around , the damn place. I pointed out I had like 20 more meters to go but nope, can’t do. I obliged, but I remember visualizing hanging him in one of the trees, injecting him with something so he couldn’t move, but still feel everything, and then cut him open....

I do think my Cap Moon puts a damper on it though. I mean, it’s not very “Cappy” to be “unclassy” and let it all hang out

Mars in Aquarius in the 12th house. I don't get mad very often, but I do have very violent imagination. I also like to exercise alone, the idea of going to a gym surrounded by people just doesn't appease me at all. I've never felt a huge urge to exercise, but I do hike a lot and I'm a fan of the barbel. I only really got into it recently though, otherwise I perfer to stay in peaceful environments when I'm not at work. I have found that exercise does wonders for my mental state though, but I don't really do anything too intense.

Just seen this post is from 2014
but as the old one has been revived ..

yes to tall and large
and this in spite of SN on Asc which can mean a small person !

The one I know it’s like his house is his den
and he is pretty inaccessible once in there .
Drains himself with work , kid (by being inconsistent), running errands for others then is burned out and lies on the couch with the tv on forever.
