I heard once it was M for 'Maiden' in Virgo's and M for 'Man' in Scorpius, the arrows stylized to represent genitalia. As for myself, I believe it is the maternal force directed inward (Virgo is one belonging to themselves) to regenerate from Scorpius, as Scorpius has it pointing outward to symbolize they are ready for the Union (semisextile both with Libra) to be consummated, as Scorpius relates to Union with the Marriage Partner.

The original glyphs for both signs seem to have evolved quite a bit over time -

And then there's this:

"It is said by the ancients that there were originally only 10 zodiac signs, not 12 - Libra was added and Virgo and Scorpio were split into 2 separate signs. According to various sources, including Madame Blavatsky, the sign of Libra was inserted and divided the formerly unified sign of Virgo-Scorpio. The Virgin and the Serpent. Genesis, the Garden of Eden, and the "fall" of man."

Thanks Geeky.
Another question that has been on my mind for quite a while-Did they have a SON?
which one of the constellation most likely relates to it?

Wasn't Libra called the Claws of Scorpius?

Here's one more link before I go to do some work -

"Scorpio's origins are as interesting and as complex as the sign itself. Before the twelve-month calendar was created, ancient astrologers viewed Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio all as one sign. Once divided, they came to symbolize aspects of the creation story in the book of Genesis, as follows:

Leo is Adam; Virgo is Eve, the virgin (as well as the Garden of Eden itself—Virgo symbolizes harvest, and is an earth sign); Libra is the tree of knowledge, symbolizing justice and right and wrong; and Scorpio is of course the serpent. Since the apple hangs from the tree, the fall of Adam comes through Libra—hence, it is the first sign of the fall season. And since Scorpio rules the reproductive organs, a rebirth occurs through Scorpio that gives rise to the three intellectual, wise signs that follow."

There seems to be no clear answer.

It makes sense given Leo through Scorpius are considered the Trans-formative Signs.

The tail (Phallus) in Virgo is pointing down showing no to sex (Virgin) and

The tail (Phallus again) in Scorpio is pointing up showing yes to sex, leads to regeneration.
