Do you think these placements (opposites or not) are really conflicting?
On one hand the libra mercury wants to balance everything and sweat-talk and tell people what they want to hear. On the other hand the aries mars just wants to fight anything it doesn't agree with, and is not gentle towards others at all and doesn't care about being gentle? IP: Logged |

I'm Virgo ascendant Scorpio, with moon in Scorpio (conjunct Pluto), with... Libra Mercury (19°) and Aries Mars (8°35) ^^
I'm full of nervous drives, I feel a strong need to respond (and you can see it at my face) but I'm always polite and I never insist when people disagree too harshly, even if I want to knock them down with my arguments. I see it differently, everyone labels Libra has the nice easy pushover just wants things to flow smoothly. Someone wrote a post a day or two ago regarding Libra, it could very well be Ms Pixiejane [ sp =( ]As she said, "Libra is above all fair and balanced, and know the meaning of compromise. People will usually interpret this as wishy washy or spineless. Far from it, a Libra could be an absolute tempest if something needs addressing."
So Check that Aries Mars attitude at the door

I agree with @swiftfreeze. Libra can be very forceful in getting what it wants. Libra cares about the opinions and well beings of others, sometimes to the point of people pleasing, although usually there's an ulterior motive to the people pleasing behavior [like wanting a raise, etc]. Libra wants to listen to others' opinions and where they stand before making certain choices. But this doesn't mean that Libra is going to pale under the energy of an Aries planet. Libra and Aries are on the same axis so they do share commonalities. Libra is somewhat less direct in their forcefulness where Aries charges right ahead asserting a total sense of the self. Libra is others-connected so will take into account the thoughts and opinions of others before speaking [for Mercury in Libra], but Libra can easily judge those opinions taken into account as irrelevant or nonsensical and charge ahead to do what Libra thinks is right. This is because Libra often consider themselves the final judge on any issue, especially one related to themselves. I hope that makes sense! IP: Logged |

Well, Aries in Mars is in dignity and depending on where your Libra Mercury is placed, it could also be in essentially dignified via Air triplicity.But either way, I don't see it as a big deal. Looks like Aries Mars would win. And contrary to popular misconceptions, Aries Mars is actually very controlled. When Mars is in dignity or exaltation, that means there's a built-in mastery component over the temperament and physical body/strong focus on personal ability. To have Mars in detriment or fallen is to have a loose cannon who needs to work HARD to achieve mastery level. IP: Logged |

Could it be that Mars/Aries is just direct and to the point while
Mercury/Libra is concerned with tact which isn't in line with a "cut to the chase" Mars/Aries?  If it is in opposition then there will be the need to make a choice, with the stronger planet dominating. ------------------

Libra Mars here, this is true! While I almost never get angry I most certainly can become a storm if justice is involved LOL. It appears injustice really ticks libra mars off and I'm ok with that. :P IP: Logged |
