Mercury in Sagittarius is supposed to be afflicted in learning except in language and law.

I'm a mercury Sagittarius that proves this wrong. I am very good with details, and I am an accountant by trade, and pretty much have aced every test I've ever taken. I'm not a genius, although mercury is conjunct Uranus, but I do have a relatively high intelligence and could probably be whatever I wished to be with grit and determination.

I have no planets in virgo so there is no counterbalancing and I have Neptune conjunct sun which is also negated by my true life experience. I am the most practical, dry horse in the room. I never drink except for maybe one beer every three to six months and only to console a friend, and I never day dream or live in the clouds - in fact I wish I could day dream but I'm such a realistic person that my day dreams amount to nothing but material for self-examination.

So take astrological interpretations with a grain of salt. Definitely read about the symbolism and the houses but remember that any positive or negative descriptions of placements should not replace your real life experience which would or could completely negate those explanations.

I have mercury in Sagittarius, it's out of bounds. I do my taxes, being good with details and having natural knack for business.

I have no planets in Virgo.
I have sun conjunct Neptune.

I rarely drink, not because I don't like the occasional drink, I don't get out as much as before. I would say I have a drink or 2 every 6 months.

I love day dreaming, it's my personal holodeck where I can do and be any thing I want.

Earth is a planet of duality and free-will. We incarnate from the source to experience.
Our astrological charts show us the duality (that our souls chose to experience) and free-will give us the choice to experience the positive or negative traits.

Interesting. We are all vaguely similar.

Perhaps it is time for people to stop propagating the lie of mercury in Sagittarius or detriment and exaltation in general.

As for source, are you alluding to where we come from because in an 11-dimensional view nothing comes from anywhere...the idea of a source is a 1 to 2 dimensional view and quit e limiting.

The idea of a source is also dualistic in its nature.

Are you an Abraham hicks fan? I have to warn you that much of what she says is poppy-crock.

I say the Source of all that is because referring to anything living (planets, animals, minerals, BEings, Bacteria, etc) as conscious energy that is everywhere at once seems to leave people looking at me like I'm a weirdo

I am more of a Bashar fan.

Me too! I'm similar to a lot of what is written, though i would say I'm intelligent, but not particularly academic. I'd never be a nuclear physist even with hard graft!

Personally I'm not sure i'm buying the 'detrement' thing! I also have Venus in Scorpio in 'detrement' and it and Sag merc are my best features. lol!

Maybe it is just a badly chosen word for the description or an outdated concept. From what I'm learning there is good and bad potential in almost every thing.

Thanks for all these wonderful responses. I'm going to read each one and respond over time.

I'm happy astrology expanding beyond the detriment, exalted, in fall point of view or ideology.

I have my Mercury at 29 degree Sagittarius..conjunct my Sun and Neptune at 7 and 5 deg. Capricorn, respectively..

Man, I am the most Sagittarian speaker EVER. I cuss a lot, I like to brag, I am bold and harsh and funny in my speech, most things I say are said in humor. I love to talk but I am not the best at verbal communication..tend to be rather awkward or blunt. I am an EXCELLENT writer, though. I do understand language well and pick up foreign languages easily. I am also highly interested in the law and am working at a law firm right now (not as an attorney or paralegal, though...)

Despite its conjunction to my Cappy sun...I am just all over the damn place. Mentally, verbally, some people find it fun, some people find it intriguing, most find it frustrating...

Yes. Totally...I actually have a similar situation with Jupiter in fall in capricorn. It's not really in fall. In truth, as a youth, I used to give away my food to the kids who's fathers beat them - no joke.

I'm not a saint thought, but I am weary of being taken advantage of. When I started reading about astrology and jupiter in capricorn meant stingyness...I actually was the opposite, but then I Started becoming more stingy, lol, so that I wouldn't be used or stepped on.

Awesome! I was just making sure that you were being critical....I don't like it when a person ascribed to only one view from one person because it makes me think twice about listening to them and having respect for their views, but since you said you are a fan of Bashar too that means you're not under a spell.
