The following is my blog post [http://kannonmcafee.wordpress.com/2014/09/19/follow-up-on-ethics-in-astrology/] in its entirety regarding some serious problems, seemingly targeting professional astrologers or serious users/students of astrology websites. I am soliciting testimonials not to stir up trouble -- I am not naming names (and it is not this site) -- but to collect information privately in e-mail [ kannonmcafee at gmail dot com ] to establish a pattern and store testimony apart from the individuals and their computers. Most of you are not professional astrologers, but if you have had serious computer problems, especially hardware problems or damage from a particular site, you need to make a complaint to one of the sites listed below and please e-mail me. Encourage those who have had these kinds of problems to contact me.
We will not discuss this in detail in an open forum. E-mail me.
This is not paranoia or speculation. I already have a folder gathering evidence of what has already been done to particular individuals. It involves criminal behaviors originating from a commercial astrology site.
It is being reported to the proper authorities, but if you too have experienced such problems, possibly what you think is less than criminal, you should report it as well -- and send me an e-mail.
Peace.

I had no idea what can of worms I was opening when I previously addressed ethics in astrology. Since that recent post, as a result of other interactions with fellow astrologers, it has come to my attention that there are much more serious ethical issues within online electronic commercial astrology than I would ever have thought. Some of these go beyond ethical issues into criminal behavior.
I am seeking testimonials in e-mail from individuals who have had bad experiences at commercial astrology websites. I am looking for those of you who have experienced any variation of the following:
* computer problems/damage as a result of going to/interacting with software of a particular astrology website.
*lies or defamation spread about you at a particular astrology site
This covers two areas:
* electronic problems that most of us have trouble understanding, but which we can at least pin down to interactions with a particular website, particularly if it has happened more than once.
* very subjective statements regarding you as an astrologer or your reputation, but which can be pinpointed to a particular website.
I suggest that if your experience involves the first type of problem you may need to make a complaint here http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx if you are in the United States. In Australia go here: http://www.afp.gov.au/en/policing/cybercrime.aspx. In Europe go here: https://www.europol.europa.eu/content/report-cybercrime-online
If necessary first get a computer tech to make a determination regarding the source of the problems. Document everything related to computer security problems, viruses, anything that even looks like hacking and save it on an external drive off your computer.
If the problem was bad enough to crash your computer, please e-mail me [ kannonmcafee at gmail dot com ] about it and report it at the above link. Reputable, trustworthy websites of any kind do not crash your computer or give it a virus. Their managers/webmasters do not ignore your complaints regarding problems or answer in a nasty, dismissive fashion.
DO NOT tell your story here by leaving a comment. It will be deleted [at my blog]. E-mail me.
If a fellow astrologer or astrology user has experienced problems along these lines encourage them to tell their story to me in e-mail. We need to do this confidentially and privately. There is a pattern forming and it needs to be addressed.
Thank you.
