Because the 5th is ruled by the sun wouldn't it make sense the ruler of your 5th is you? For example, mine is ruled by Pisces and I have Pisces Lilith in my 5th, I definitely feel like I'm more of a Pisces than a sag sun.

Maybe it is about how actively you are using your 5th house and what aspects does it have.

I mean, if you are an adventurous sag. as a fire house the 5th house will have a say on your acts. Totally guessing here.

I just don't see the cusp position EVER being more definitive than the planet sign placement.

The Asc sign is about timing. When certain events in your life are likely to occur and what the nature of each will feel like.

So if you "feel" more Pisces in nature, it could be the conjunction of Neptune to personal planets.

But even then,I would add the disclaimer that it matters a lot as to which energy Neptune is assigned to.

A conjunction of Neptune to Moon in Sagittarius would make the individual more religious(Sagittarius).Or come from an extremely religious home environment(Moon in Sag).

A Neptune in Capricorn with conjunction to Mars is also very idealistic. But here one is intent on making their dreams come true and fulfilling their ambitions(Capricorn).

They may suffer many setbacks(Saturn rules Capricorn)and have the proverbial mat pulled from under them. But they are so convinced about the practicality(Cap) of their dreams(Nep)that they work hard(Mars) to build them(Cap).

I wouldn't say so, no. It would only be that way if you had a lot of planets in the 5th, LIKE the sun. My 5th is empty except Lilith and is ruled by Gemini but its nowhere near as important as my Leo sun.

A friend of mine has almost all of his planets in Cap 5th house, including sun and moon all conjunct. He also has Leo rising with I think Leo Mars. For HIM, it would be super duper duper important.

The Asc, to my understanding, is as important as the Sun.

With Pisces' ruler conjunct your Sun that could explain why you feel like a Fish.

Your Sun, fifth house, and the house cusp upon which Leo sits, all correspond to the same archetypal energy/function. The energy here is devoted to self-actualisation and the function is devoted to the actualisation of of the purpose behind that self-actualisation.

The energy of self-actualisation begins here with the placement of Leo. Leo for example on the tenth house cusp indicates that this energy is exerted (or at least there is a very deeply conditioned need to) in the 'outer reality' - society, the career, etc.

The ruler, the Sun, then acts as the function, or the means, to put this process of self- actualisation into practice. The Sun for example in the first house/Sagittarius indicates that this is achieved through personal experiences with themselves, self-discovery, a and philosophising about these discoveries, eg. What does this all mean and how does this relate to the greater scheme of things?

The sign on the cusp of the fifth house, and its ruler, will give you a wider context upon which these energies/functions as described above will play out...

Pisces on the fifth indicates that self-actualisation is a function that is deeply connected to karmic/spiritual purpose, the function of which is then indicated by Neptune.

Neptune in the second house/Capricorn, indicates a spiritualisation of your relationship with your self, your values, self-esteem. The way society has conditioned you (Capricorn) to relate to yourself (Taurus) needs to be transcended (Neptune) and even restructured (if you have Uranus here too). Interesting to note that this has bought us all the way back to the tenth house through the Capricorn archetype. Have a think about what that could mean.
