I'm interested to know if there is a connection between astrological aspects and taste in music. Please post what kind of music you're into and the astrological aspects you think play a part in that! I'm particularly interested in Venus aspects, since I think Music falls within the realm of Venus.IP: Logged |

I can't stand mainstream music.
I listen to new age spiritual, classical music.
I do like some rare modern music. But overall I can't take the music that plays on the radio.I have Venus in Gemini conjunct Mercury. IP: Logged |

I like all sorts of music. But then I have moods for various things whether it's what I wear, what kind of book or movie I'm in the mood for, or what I have a hankering for. It's basically repetition I don't care for (notable exception forthcoming). Therefore it might be worthwhile to examine my cravings with planetary placements at the moment. For example, maybe I like epic symphonic metal when Venus is in Leo but Chopin when in Libra yet prefer country when its in Capricorn or Scorpio (a lot of country can be really depressing, I've known even goths who love the macabre and depressing to be grudgingly awed by some of it). That said, sometimes I enjoy listening to the same song in different versions. For example, I enjoyed listening to this when I found it and thus a partial exception to the "I hate constant repetition" rule:

I think there's something to the planets placement thing you talked about! I've noticed when I have a lot of transit planets in the twelfth my musical tastes are dreamy and/or creepy. But there are some genres I like more overall. I love indie/alternative (Venus trine Neptune and Uranus) and metal and other darker or creepier things (Venus opposite pluto). IP: Logged |

Hmm not even half of the stuff I listen to is classical. I listen to a lot of mainstream songs. For the most part I choose music according to my moods and I like the effects they have on me. Soothing, meditative flute music is especially good for when I feel high-strung or stressed. The "wail" of saxophone pleases me when I'm in a pensive mood. With saturn influence I get into this mood a lot, so I think that's why I slightly prefer these kinds of music. IP: Logged |

That makes me think the instrumental music might have something to do with Venus/Saturn=)
You're right, everyone chooses music according to their moods (transits?), but I think some tastes are more stationary than others. I go through phases where I listen to more of one thing than the other, but I have the genres and artists I always come back to, which I think must have something to do with natal placements and aspects. Oh I get what you mean. well in that case I think my "kind" of music is definitely melancholic and romantic. I continuously get new songs and delete songs that I don't really like anymore. But the songs and saxophone versions from my favourite musician (pisces sun) are among the ones that I always keep in my playlist.

I like to listen to music that suits my current emotion. From gentle music to very passionate and angry. I like psychedelia, electic guitar and bass, drums and synths.

i love music.i would like to have music in the background even in my sleep  ...i also play music.i listen literally all kinds of music...depends on the moods..i also like music from other countries and with lyrics in different languages even if i don't understand a word .i believe that every kind of music has great and not so great songs.

I like lots of genres. I'm guessing that:electronic music - Aquarius Venus, Sun conjunct Uranus orchestral & choir music - dominant Saturn (especially Libra Moon square Saturn and Venus conjunct Saturn)

Oh my gosh so many good replies! Thanks guys! So I'm seeing a trend...Pluto is responsible for darker, heavier music. Saturn for more serious and/or classical music. Neptune is meditation music or really dreamy music. I would also say music that sounds really feminine or sung by a woman with a fragile voice...what do you guys think? And Uranus would be responsible for techno or electronic music as well as any other music that is just weird or strange. Then I think Jupiter would be happy music, pop, rap, and other more mainstream music. I have Venus quintile jupiter and I love rap too! What do you guys think? IP: Logged |

New theory: Mars and Pluto both like heavy, angry music but they're attracted to it for different reasons. Mars loves the raw power and anger of it, and Pluto loves the deep emotion. I know a guy who has Venus square mars and that is all he listens to, but he hardly ever knows the lyrics. I love that kind of music too, but only if I know the lyrics and identify with them an the feeling of the song in some way. IP: Logged |

The words have to mean something to me or the passion behind it just seems stupid. Even in the anger I have to feel the anger. When it's just angry screaming it's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Square Pluto (wide 8° orb) Electronic, pop, R&B, rock, metal, rap, hiphop... I've listened almost whole day today to rock/metal/rapcore/trance. I don't think that my love for metal comes from my Venus' sign or house placement lol
