As a model sea-goat aka goat-fish specimen (Capricorn Sun conjunct Neptune) I'd like to present an alternative myth explaining Capricornus I found some time ago. http://www.gods-and-monsters.com/capricorn-mythology.html Me likey (even though it depressed me so much I had to eat a whole chocolate bar *phew, excused*), what about you? ------------------ I'm sooo happy! It's almost like there is a duality to Capricorn (although it's not technically one of the dual signs).. The "land goat" represents the more materialistic side of the sign, climbing the worldly heights of social status and fortune. The "sea goat" represents the spiritually of Capricorn and their depth of wisdom. I think people with Capricorn placements go back and forth between the material world and the spiritual plane... maybe more so than other signs. The whole notion that Pisces has "one foot in this world and one in the next", applies more so to Capricorn imo. It seems to me like Pisces has both feet in the *next* IP: Logged |

I don't get it. We still have our tails so we still have intelligence...but not enough intelligence to stop swimming to shore where we will grow legs and turn stupid and have to be rescued from stupidity? And even after experiencing the dimming of our minds on shore and being rescued, we still want to go right back to the shore, grow legs and lose our brains? Doesn't make any sense. We'd have to already be stupid to keep moving to a place that turns us stupid(er). This is the kind of thing that prevents me from being "into" mythology.... IP: Logged |

Hmm, i wonder - if the next analogy is fitting for the evolution of a female Capricorn (her tenacious struggle through all kind of means of pain - to achieve success): Growing a Man Beard ? ^^IP: Logged |

Faith, they apparently didn't believe Pricus when he told then what would happen to them and how he gained that knowledge (rescuing them by time manipulation again and again). He was the only one who remembered everything.7thGuardian, thanks for ruining the thread!

Ahem. The info you posted is useful but I wanted to stay focused on the myth I shared. You don't have to delete your post, not everyone knows about the association with Satan and they would probably appreciate your input.------------------ I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy. IP: Logged |

Which is why I told you people to stick to your Pan! Capricorn is like the most boring sign out there, you've even outrun Tauruses (because they're sensual) and even Virgos (everyone knows Virgos are freaks in the good way, I can vouch!), but Caps?! The "not now, I'm working" guys and gals? "Here, let me schedule some love making on the 24th, say 06:12 PM? Would that be convenient for you, Madam?" Let's be serious. You need to get your Pan straight (ahem), and soon everyone will be saying Capricorn is the new Scorpio! I am rooting for you people, I really am. And even if that's the case, isn't that good news? I mean - you're missing the point (the positive side): Ignorance can lead to HAPPINESS! As the saying goes: Ignorance is bliss! ^^ And isn't that what most people are after? Let's say it works like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9pD_UK6vGU And then the Capricorn turns into this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pc6vNQydldE Eeeeeh! Doesn't he look like he's having a lot of fun, doesn't so he look really happy? PS.I'm joking ofc - sort of... I don't see this as a Capricorn thing - but in a way - it kinda is valid for people who become obsessed with Happiness. A path to happiness as the main purpose/focus - is more like a path to ignorance. And that's ok too... i guess (to each its own). But the way i see it - happiness has its place in our life - a part of life same as anything else - and it's not wise to ignore the rest while aiming for happiness with a tunnel vision (therefore - adopting a style of ignorance) - cause that will only increases the sufferance for others - until the one in question gets his turn. Just a thought... in a - one thing lead to another kind of way. IP: Logged |

Rudyard Kipling (he's a Capricorn) wrote a poem entitled "IF" - which seems to fit - with the Capricorn theme: If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream - and not make dreams your master, If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!" If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son! OMG too funny!!! I appreciate your commentary on "ignorance is bliss"...and think along similar lines actually. Though I'm enthralled with the Buddhists who talk about awareness bringing joy. Even when they seek out suffering people and keep company with despairing individuals. I just can't get into the doctrine of Buddhism. I'm happier not knowing all the intricacies of religion...I pretty much want the bottom line and nothing extra piled on top, no stories or long histories. Maybe that's 12H
