(this is going to be really long so beware...also i'm not sure if i'm posting this in the right forum. i hope i am. :/ )

hey, everyone. saturn is currently conjunct my ascendant from the 12th house and is due to finally enter my 1st house this year on december 11 or 12th i believe. i've read about as much interpretations as i could and while it does sound scary, it's nothing i haven't experienced. before i get into that, i also read that it's a very powerful and important transit and won't happen again for the next 28 years...i'm only 17 so i'm extremely on edge just thinking about it

saturn in my 12th house was horrible (even worse than transit saturn conjunct chiron in 11th) and i wish i had known about astrology before it entered because i handled it terribly. i became severely depressed, weakened the relationship with my mom, began self harming, and even tried to commit suicide. the 12th house rules institutions and hospitals and boy did i have a lot of visits there. that's thankfully all in the past and i'm slowly coming out of my shell more and more and no longer wish to end my life. :-) i read that a saturn in the 1st house transit can evoke feelings of depression and cause you to isolate yourself and become more introverted. i've already had that feeling for many years (probably due to my natal mars quincunx saturn aspect) and it reached its peak in february 2014.

honestly...what can i feel now that i haven't felt already? i don't want to fall into depression again and i don't want to go through such bad times like that anymore. i'll tell you what's been happening as of late: i have a huge desire to change myself. is this because of saturn nearing my first house cusp? i'm more determined to lose weight despite wanting to for years and i plan on getting cosmetic surgery hopefully before my 18th birthday. i'm ready to change my appearance dramatically and take on the world as a new, more happier person so i can do great things and help a lot of people!!

i really hope my saturn transit will help my desire to change rather than make me sad again. a few interpretations also said that a 1st house transit with saturn means little to no public recognition because we'll be focused on ourselves. that's a bit...unnerving because at the end of 2015, i'm due to have 5 planets transit my midheaven one after the other which includes my sun, mercury, mars, jupiter, & venus. is saturn REALLY that powerful that it would overpower those transits? i've had a mars conjunct venus transit and literally nothing happened as transit saturn is currently opposite my venus sigh :-( plus i didn't leave my house when it happened lol

i have natal pluto in sag. in my 1st house conjunct my ascendant in scorpio which also means saturn will eventually conjunct pluto as it makes its way through. i'm sorry for writing so much, but i'm really scared. i genuinely hope this transit goes the way i think it will because saturn really likes to pull me under an ocean with no way of swimming back up. any comments & thoughts are much appreciated and thank you for reading.

if any of you have this transit coming up or have been through it before, please don't hesitate to share your experiences!

HI,

I remember Saturn went through my 12th house. I was suicidal as well. That is hands down one of the worst transits ever!

But when Saturn entered my ASC. Things went in completely opposite direction. I met a wonderful guy and we fell deep in love. Well my Asc is Libra.. And Saturn was trining my Venus. He walked into my life when Saturn was exactly on my ASC! And he is a Capricorn ASC.

Saturn in the 12th is preparing you and trying to cleanse all negativity there so you can leave the past behind to prepare for your new life! Its a brand new cycle.

Also see how saturn aspects your other planets to see what it will bring for you.

I also noticed my looks changed.. its like i morphed into a woman and i wasn't a teenager anymore. Saturn brought me an ocean of good karma that was rightfully mine. I became more confident and sure of myself, and recognized myself for what I was. Saturn made me see that I was special and unique and he wasn't going to have anything less. My BF was hugely apart of me gaining confidence.. the love we shared together was beautifying substantially. it changed us both and we are both new people today. It was truly the best time of my life, when Saturn was on my ASC.

I wonder. What other personal planet was transiting Saturn forming a hard aspect to when it was moving through the 12th? And what house does that planet rule?

I for instance,do recall Saturn conjunct Mars.Mars is the ruler of my 1st house.

It was very confidence shaking and made me feel that I could not express my confidence anymore.

I had one boss who drove me nuts with his tendency to panic and be unpleasant to be around.

Another was a controlling micro-managing a*** and the last was just so disengaged from work that I had to find my own way around knowing the KPI's.

During that 2 year period(with Saturn retrograde in Libra) there were many times that I felt like I could just quit. Especially with the last boss.I couldn't find my feet and felt really incompetent.

I think that Saturn brings many unpleasant things. Or maybe the rose-colored glasses come off?Either way, it is far from being a lovely period.

One thing I learned from those experiences is not to have far-reaching ideas of the workplace.

I think any authentic connection that you make during that period tend to feel so beautiful.Because you are going through so much cr***. So you treasure them more.

Late last year ,Saturn retrograde transit hit natal Saturn(Saturn return)and my dissatisfaction with my job prospects could not be tolerated any longer.Saturn rules my 10th house.

I have Saturn conjunct Venus now. Again the same themes are showing up.Only this time it comes through the loneliness and having to cope with being by myself all the time.

Oh,did I mention that my financial situation is not great? Venus rules the 7th and 2nd.

Now I do have a boyfriend. But he has had many issues lately and I feel like I can't add more on his shoulders.

He has Moon in Scorpio conjunct transiting Saturn and so he feels very "confined" right now too.

I checked to see the aspects on the day I was admitted into a psychiatric hospital in 2013 and noticed that Saturn was directly on the cusp of my 12th house! It was also opposite my natal sun and transiting Uranus was conjunct natal Saturn.

Saturn is located in and rules my fifth house.

The aspects formed by February 2014 (when things started getting really bad) was a square between Jupiter and Saturn both ways and transit Pluto sq. Saturn...hm...

Anyway I hope things will ease up for you. I'm sorry to hear about such harsh things happening.

Your post is very interesting.Forgive my nosiness.

Saturn opposition Sun heh? Saturn wants you to do the hard work and the Sun say "No"(opposition). But is forced to comply. It usually bring on self-esteem issues. That must have been tough.

Uranus conjunct natal Saturn often wants to break away(Uranus)from know patterns(Saturn) and boundaries.Personal freedom is emphasized and a TOTAL MAKEOVER is wanted.

I wonder, with the transit affecting your 5th house and you being admitted, did you ever get to express the inner rebellion(Uranus) against restrictive situations(Saturn)?

Jupiter sqr Saturn often means opportunities to change one's circumstances(Saturn) for the better(Jupiter) are there, but they are not easy to recognize(square).

And the Pluto square Saturn is tough. The building blocks of your life(Saturn) are rehashed(Pluto) and changes are made that may leave you feeling exposed and vulnerable(square).

If the ego is heavily invested in those building blocks, this time can be Ego-crushing;it feels like the rug is being yanked while you are still on your knees.

Saturn transiting your 1st house right now at your age is a GOOD thing.

You need to start thinking about what you want for your life, what direction you want to go in and start setting up now the foundations for this.

Of course, it doesn't have to be 100% exactly defined. You are still young. But do start thinking about wanting to be healthy, together, more confident, etc. Think about how you can turn your chart's potential weakness into their positive manifestations, look at what potential you have and focus on those things. It's good to start understand who you are really and who you want to be in the future. Do you want to go to university? Live far away one day? Have a better relationship with your mom (and others), etc?

Lay your foundations now! It's a good time for that.

I know you've dealt with depression already and this might not be easy because you have to really look at yourself. But this Saturn transit at your young age is about building up so that later you don't have to tear it down and start again. Focus on your POTENTIAL. You have your whole future ahead of you. You can make it what you want!

Honestly, I wish someone had told me that when I was your age. It would have saved me the issues I'm going through now that Saturn is making me rebuild everything. I had the 12th house, now I have 1st house. Things are looking up!

Hi, I am going through the same transits. My Tr Saturn is in 12 th house. Plus I JUST came out of Tr Saturn squire my sun (on 21 oct 2014). Everything is unstable and challenging. Hopefully, with Tr Saturn squire my Sun being over my life will be better. It is definitely ego crasher transits. I lost my job during this transits and I still can not find a permanent job so far. I have a contract job which may be ending soon. Or may be I will be transferred to another project. Latter will be awesome.
I was rejected so many times (job wise)It is not funny anymore. So many "sure" plans went sideways. Howver, I have some positive came out of this transits. I became more responsible with Money, I paid off my biggest debt. I cleaned out my closet, lol (get rid of almost all old clothes)However, what is killing me is suspense . Everything is unstable, I can not relax (well, my Saturn is in 5th as well). I am very worry about job situation. Very soon my Saturn will be in my 1st house. I really hope it will be less challenging transit versus Saturn in 12

This is what is killing me too! I can't seem to get anything to stick, nothing is stable, everything up in the air, the job situation is dismal!

Saturn is already in my 1st. It's making a mess of things which would be fine if ANYTHING were stable but it's not. Sigh. It'll all work out in the end. But, damn! I've had enough already!

Lucie, how is your transit? check is Transiting Saturn squire or opposite ur Natal sun.
I am not sure what to attribute my challenges either to Tr Staturn in 12th house or TrSaturn Squire my natal sun. May be both? What is EXTREMELY frustrating that almost all my plans went sideways, all the good leads came to nothing. All "promises" were "Broken"(job wise), projects has been delayed to unforeseen future. Example: My ex manager contacted me (HIMSELF) in March 2014 asking me to join my previous company as a contractor. I agreed, then project was delayed till May, than Jun 2014, Than till September, now it was delayed till May 2015. Also the recruiting agency I was working with to get above job went bankrupt. Another one, I had a great interview on sep 17 with startup company. I went though grueling 3-4 hours interview. I came out with a flying colors (I thought they liked me) well... to make story short they went with a different candidate (On a finish line there were only 2 remaining people: I and another guy) . Funny thing is I was very sure I will get this job I wanted so much that position.
Now, my current contract seems to reaching its end. Some of my people will be transferred to another project, and as of me, ... silence.... Next week will be deciding week, if my contract will be prolonged or not. well with my recent luck... it is more "No" than "Yes"

and my love life?.... what is it? I do not have any love life (I wish I would )

Ugh... It's conj my nJupiter and just came out of being opp my nSaturn. It hit my ASC rolled back over it when it went retro, then came back over again. My nSaturn is conj DSC.

It's then going to conj my nNept then my nSun.... Trust me! It's a big old Saturn mess for the near future. LOL (I mean, you can only laugh, right?! )

BUT the good news is that tJupiter will be hitting my MC! A job is coming. I know it! It has to!

Hang in there!! Think about making any changes you really want NOW. Since everything is unstable anyway, no harm in trying to get what you really want out of it in the end.

As for your love life: Again, it's about thinking clearly about what you want. Do you know what type of person you want in your life? Make sure it's clear in your head. You don't want just anyone. I did that when tSaturn was conj my nSaturn and I got the type of guy I wanted and kept myself from entering a bad relationship with someone who wasn't right for me.

Really, this is the time to make Saturn work for you!! Think of it as building your foundations. Without solid foundations the house can not stand. It's hard work. But so very worth it. And even with all you've been through, trust me, it's easier to make those changes now at your age than at mine.

I'm with you both in cyber Saturn solidarity!

Lucie, indeed
shyberry, hang in there, transits have tendency to pass Plus you are so young and all your life ahead of you. My words of advice through, learn to relax. I read you have N.Saturn in 5th, me too. and I find that I am overly responsible, and being satisfied with myself ... well almost never . However, I have Neptune on my asc and you have pluto (intense)... hang in there. I do believe TR Saturn in 1st will be much better for all of us

Saturn in the first just signals a new start in life. Adds structure. I went through that a while ago. Saturn conjuncted my Ascendant and my oldest girl was born. Seven years later when it squared my rising degree my youngest girl was born.

Saturn adds stability and helps cement a solid foundation. Maybe the crisis episodes are just the things not working and it brings you to the reality of your life. From this dark time can be the time where you start to rebuild and grow within. It may be the hardest work to go through, but by the end, the growth will be well worth it.

Note - A Saturn transit is tamer than a Pluto transit.

I am currently FINISHING this transit and I must say it's given me a real kick up the back..

It has really made me think about what I want to do in the future and I've certainly begun to lay down foundations for the future.

My parents have been encouraging me to apply for private schools; lots of exams, interviews as you'd imagine.

Exams at school, applying at other public school...

Lots of pressure.

me again
I spoke to 3 of my friends and I found out 2 of them got married during Tr Saturn in 1st house and 1 had her first child during this transit. Nothing bad happened during this transit except more responsibilities.
it was a stressful time for them but it was a "good" stress if you will

I found a really informative description on illumeastrology! I was a bit surprised since I don't really care for that site. It's very assuring... Here it is:

So, you finally made it out of the illusive, confusing 12th house, and are now going to focus on " Becoming" the best possible version of you. While the 12th house experience varies for each person so does the Transit to the 1st house. Some experience the 12th house, as a "vacay "away from it all, nothing seems to go anywhere and you feel as if you're drifting at sea. As you purge parts of you that have been unhealthy or bad for you in the 12th, you are making a path to pursue all your dreams with full throttle ahead. (see: Saturn through the 12th for more) As Saturn nears your Ascendant, you ask yourself. Who Am I?, Who do I wan't to be? Where will I make my mark in this world? Worldly success and approval from others may become much more important than you ever thought it would.

Saturn is the taskmaster, the builder, he makes things stronger, durable and successful. As wonderful as this sounds, it's not so easy, or everyone would easily do so. Sometimes it takes a reckoning for us to rise above and take on the task, which is" hard work" to get things done. For the many that have been putting others first, this can be a real eye opener. There is no time, to waste you feel the pressure, it's now or never, but what to do? If you used the 12th house appropriately, you should have gotten rid of some skeletons, and purged up a bunch of hidden fears, things that may have been holding you back in the past. As Saturn approaches your Ascendant you feel that those things can no longer be, and you let them go. Now, you feel as if there is something that needs to be done, a new way of doing things, a new purpose, new relationships a new and better life, is waiting. This sense of something needs to be done, is great. It's exactly what you need to get off your ass and do something about it. However, Saturn is the Judge, during this time, he may like to rub in your face, all the dumb things you have done, or force one to take a long hard look at themselves, for who they really are. Saturn's scrutiny, can make you feel bad, but the key is to use this to make yourself better. Anyone that grew up with a strict parent that was low on affection and full of criticism, will be familiar with this energy. Often the parents that behave this way, say it's " for your own good". Although some of us would like to stick our head in the sand and avoid, especially those that are Neptune inflicted. The truth is, when we do this, we are only fooling ourselves, other's see us for who we are. So although we tell are selves it's not true, the truth is still out there. Saturn is this truth.
Now, each persons experience is different, I have known many to accomplish a lot during this time, and some that felt as if they were just getting by because they were so busy. Regardless the busy part seems to be consistent. You will need to work, and work hard during this period, there is no slacking aloud. You will be working on YOU. Your physical appearance, health and personality. You're place in the world becomes very important. Saturn wants you to succeed, and tough love is his way of getting you to do so.

So first things first, If Saturn is in your 12th house now, then your ahead of the game and need to prepare. Saturn rules the skeletal system so often the onset of body pains and aches come on. This is mostly if you have not been taking proper care of yourself. Exercise and taking calcium and magnesium supplements will help a lot if you get started early. The onset of this transit many have said they feel tired, and achy. However, I have know a quite a few that have actually gained a ton of energy. I am not sure without looking at your chart as far as which side of the coin you will be. Regardless taking better care of yourself, will be a necessity. As you become, much more serious in mind, you will be much wiser with your time. Fun just doesn't seem to do it anymore, you need more. As with all the transits, we know they are tests and they serve to make our lives better, and to teach us lessons. This transit is no different, but the focus becomes on the individual. I don't like to talk about myself personally but the last time I experienced this transit, I accomplished so much and gained much respect. People trusted me and gave me much more responsibility. Yes, I lost some friends during the process but they really did need to go. My Aquarius Sun and Neptune in the 1st was eager to be friends with any and all. Well, I had a rude awakening when I finally realized what a bunch of losers I let in my life, that were truly toxic to me. I am eagerly awaiting this transit that is soon to come again. In the years that I have been studying Astrology, this was one of my favorite to watch first hand. It is like a complete make over of a person. I have seen people completely transform. I have seen some of the free spirit's go completely conservative, changing their image completely to something much more conservative. However, the Air they carried with them, was quite astonishing, they appeared much more contained, polished and confident. I mean honestly looking really good! Many got into really good shape and lost weight. The focus became on being respectable, and admired. The transformations were all quite astonishing.
The key with this transit, and it's easier said that done, but just like you need to take calcium, you need to lighten up and not be too hard on yourself to where you come across as stiff, and judgmental. Everything in balance, and being aware of the fact that this transit will make you critical is actually the key to not being so. We have free will, so use it during this transit. Realize that this transit is trying to help you crystalize your personality and who you want to be in this world. This is a very good thing, and although you may have to work hard, the rewards will be ever lasting.
