According to the rules of astrology you shouldn't buy a piece of electrical equipment with Mercury retro. However, what if you saw a second hand piece of electrical equipment for sale while Mercury was retro but waited until Mercury was direct before buying it? Surely it's the same physical entity regardless of when you buy it so either it's faulty or it's not?

I agree with your logic.

There's a line to be drawn with this astrology stuff and some like to push the boundaries of sanity with it.

I'm just wondering as I want a digital piano and I've seen the exact one I want, and at the right price. It was listed for sale while Mercury was retro but now Mercury is direct. My girlfriend, who knows a lot more about astrology than I do, thinks it'll be fine, but I just wondered what the wider consensus is.

I see what you're saying, but I think you're looking at the situation by centralizing the object and that isn't necessarily the correct way to analyze anything to do with Mercury retrograde. The idea isn't that if it were faulty or not, it'll remain the same during or after Mercury retrograde but that your thought process and decision making faculty are a bit "wishy washy" or disoriented and that could lend you to making a bad or misinformed decision. There are numerous ways in which this situation can yield different outcomes. Say, you purchase this piano but 3 weeks later find the same one at a cheaper price or that you find a different one that you would've liked better, etc... (This can also apply to Venus retrograde except for different reasons)

I'm not sure whether I'm big on doing things that extremely in accord with the laws of astrology but I am merely offering a theoretical account to respond to your concern.

Now to retreat into the practical world, I say f*ck it and buy it . Be forewarned, however. I did experience a bad break-up in the wake of Venus retrograde and I must say the planets and signs involved made it all the more shockingly true.

Good luck!

^^ I thought about that later but I said heck with it. LOL

I agree completely though on that one.

Thanks all. In response to PisceanDream's useful insight, what I can say is that I've been playing keyboards for almost 30 years and I've researched digital pianos extensively. I do know that this one is perfect for my requirements and is very competitively priced, having seen quite a few the same come and go via the same source of the one I'm currently considering, so the personal 'wishy washy' element is, in this case, not applicable, I feel.

You're absolutely right, which is why I hate to be fatalistic about Astrology. The wishy washiness isn't applicable here, but this is just the general schema by which Mercury retrograde would, in very typical circumstances, operate. I used your example for demonstratory purposes only

But yeah, don't sweat it and get that piano!
