I am also curious as to how that pans out.

Western astrology describes the positions of the Moon in a very similar(if not the exact way)that eastern astrology does.

I however,have Moon in Gemini(eastern) but moon in Cancer(western).

My sister has Cancer Moon in both eastern and Western. So I wonder if she is more "Cancer" than I? hmmm

Western astrology describes Cancer as;

1.Emotional.
2.Moody/temperamental
3.Loves the home and domestic affairs
4.Usually close to the mother/maternal figures.
5.Very security-conscious.
6.Likely to be distrustful of people

I can relate. But its hard to swallow the pill in as far as Gemini is concerned.

1.Fickle
2.likes social atmospheres
3.Finds it easy to express oneself.
4.Cannot sit still/make up its mind easily
5.Likely to start relationships early.
6.Likely to get married more than once/not at all.

I can relate to the attraction of relating to people. As well as not being able to make up one's mind easily.

But I can also attribute that to the opposition of Mercury to the Moon nataly.

I had an astrologer do my chart and he didn't even pay attention to the Western positions. He seemed to gravitate more to the eastern placements.

Nevertheless,I think its one's own preference and is not cast in stone.

The fact that the aspects stay exactly the same for both(even the less popular "draconic" chart) suggests to me that the aspects may be the only consistency that actually counts.

Western Astrology centers around the sun while Vedic astrology uses fixed stars to measure the signs ; sidereal. Vedic believes that measuring the signs from the relationship shared by the earth and the sun is not accurate. A vedic chart will shift the whole natal chart 24 degrees or so that is one sign earlier than that of the western chart, including the sun/moon/rising signs.

I switched from western to vedic astrology a little over a year ago.

I clicked much more easy with vedic.

Ill use my moon for example.
Moon in Aries at 0.55 degrees
Okay, so I get the moon in aries, but now I want to break it down even further..
I look up my moons Nakshatra http://www.galacticcenter.org/main/nakshatras/the-27-nakshatras.html

My moon is in Ashwani (0.00-13.20 degrees aries) which will further define my moon

Now, I want to even further define my moon I look at the Pada, which is each Nakshatra broken down into 4 groups.

Because my moon is at 0.55 aries so that means I am Ashwani pada 1

This helps someone see why someone with the same moon can be so different, even when the degrees are relatively close.
Yes, you have your similarities being Aries moons (can we say hot heads? lol)
But it just further defines your moon.

Kapel Raaj is a astrologer with a youtube channel, KRS.
He has broken down each moon, each of the Nakshatras, and is posting daily on the padas of each Nakshatra.

Your Nakshatra is Chitra (which is shared with the sign Virgo)

quote:
This is the "star of opportunity". These individuals posses charisma, personal charm, and can be flashy and glamorous. They love bright colors and usually have very beautiful eyes with well-proportioned bodies. This is one of the most mystical nakshatras of all. They have deep spiritual depth and with sudden flashes of insight. They are wonderful conversationalist; they say the right thing at the right time. Chitra rules creation, indicating artistic ability, and organizational ability as in architectural design. Many artists are born in this asterism. With an affinity to jewels they may deal with gemstones. Chitra reflects the world of maya and delusions, which they are to over come.

Here is the video of what I believe is your Pada http://youtu.be/Vhzu8Zgk4ZU?list=PL0EF2B6DA82780057

Your moon wont stay at the same degree in vedic.
If you go to astro.com to see the vedic chart choose whole signs system
and under that choose hindu/lahiri

So your nakshatra would be Dhanishta

quote:
The "Star of Symphony", there is considerable material wealth, ownership of property and real estate with this nakshatra. As to the symbols of musical instruments, some do possess musical ability. The "Star of Symphony", there is considerable material wealth, ownership of property and real estate with this nakshatra. As to the symbols of musical instruments, some do possess musical ability and love dancing, for they are able to keep a beat. With this notion they are great at timing, this can refer to having a knack for being at the right place at the right time. There seems to be emptiness from within, for the musical instruments, a drum and flute are hollow. They are constantly trying to fill this void, and this may be the cause of their problems in relationships and marital discord. Marriage may be delayed or denied. There is a tendency to live up to the expectations of others. They can be materialistic, and gain fame and recognition. They must be careful not to be too self absorbed, greedy, and narcissistic. They love the excitement of travel.

KRS hasnt gotten down that far in the zodiac yet.
