So my husband supposedly has Taurus rising and indeed he is extremely stubborn but far from reserved; he is quite talkative...The ruler of his third is Moon and his moon trines mercury. Also venus sextiles his mercury and his AC and Sun are ruled by Venus: I wonder if this is why? His moon sesquisquares mars-uranus and squares saturn and Sun and he loves discussions and debates...He is very smart and creative but has issues with discipline; he is the smart guy who does not fit into the standard school system but can read for hours about something he is interested in and teaches himself almost anything he finds interesting...but I digress. He loves talking! Do I have his AC wrong or can the aspects override the reservedness of Taurus? What do you guys think? What aspects do you find talkative people have?

What do you think you have wrong? Taurus Rising definitely does not have to equal reserved. It can just be a very stubborn, grounded outlook on life. That's the great thing about birth charts. There's always something that can add contradictions or the unexpected to traditional interpretations of that one placement. Moon-Mercury people can be very talkative, once they get going and if they feel comfortable sharing. The instincts (Moon) are connected with communication (Mercury), so it's a very natural combination for someone with a hot-wired brain and a need to spill and vent and laugh and joke. Mercury-Mars folks also tend to talk a lot, particularly ones with the conjunction. ------------------ Check out My Astrology Blog: http://astroarena12.blogspot.com IP: Logged |

Moon square Mercury Mars conjunct Mercury Moon in Gemini If I have an audience willing to listen! I've known some people to talk just to be talking. I will not. I'll talk if I feel like I'm genuinely being listened to and what I'm saying is being absorbed. In that case, I'll talk forever from one topic to the next! I also love teaching. Might be the Virgo... IDK. (Mars/Mercury/Venus in Virgo) IP: Logged |

Oh my god, Gemini rising😬 My mom has Gemini rising and it's like there's no off switch. Bla bla bla bla bla. Even when I'm obviously working on something or have something going on she'll sit there and talk at me while I nod my head and say, "yeah, wow, that's crazy." One time we (some friends and I) decided to try an experiment where NO ONE made any kind of reply to her no matter how much she talked. It didn't stop her. She talked anyway. She ended up getting her feeling hurt tho (Pisces sun). Also sun conjunct mercury. They talk a lot. And for the most part (in my experience) it's not about anything you want to hear. My stepdad has it and will literally sit and talk to me for three hours. He likes to call "family meetings" which consist of him talking for an indefinite period of time. It's awful. IP: Logged |

I'M DYING!!!! Hahahaha! I honestly think my mom might have her ASC in Gem just because of what you described. She's always yapping away about something, always gossiping on the phone, and her best friends are all Air Suns with 3 of them being Gem Suns! I have a Gem Moon, and she always comes to me to vent. Yeah, I definitely engage her there. But I'm not as talkative as she is. IP: Logged |

Mercury conjunct Sun in the 1st, 5th house Gem Moon... I talk too much if someone stimulates me enough. And I overcompensate by yapping endlessly if I feel an awkward silence creeping up. I don't mind silence (I love silence, actually) but I mean, you can generally sense if the silence is really uncomfortable that it needs to be broken. I'm good at shattering the shite out of it. Me, too, I can talk a blue streak. And I can handle several conversations at once. 11H Gem Mars ETA: 3rd decan Taurus is rather talkative. Is your hubby's ASC in the third decan, hypatia? (20-30 degrees?) IP: Logged |

Yes, aspects of an angular sort can add energy to a earth/water (-) passive Asc. That includes planets in declination. Planets in Leo can be parallel a Taurus Asc. Planets in Aquarius can be contra-parallel it. Those are just as strong as conjunctions, squares, oppositions that involve Mercury, Jupiter, etc. Otherwise you simply have not given enough information in the form of a chart/birth data to get anything but an abstract hypothetical answer. ------------------ Expert rectification, professional astrology consults http://kannonmcafee.wordpress.com/ Complete desriptions of all Rising Signs: https://kannonmcafee.wordpress.com/rising-signs-2/ IP: Logged |

Haha omg yes, the phone gossip! Some of my most vivid childhood memories consist of me eavesdropping on my moms phone gossip😄 IP: Logged |

That is what I want an abstract hypothetical answer. My threads are exploratory in nature; I have enjoyed the responses so far. I wanted to hear others feedback to see what other aspects can cause talkativeness in general but my husband's moon ruling the 3rd trining mercury I feel explains it; talking is like feeding his soul, he needs it like he needs food and so is learning and keeping his mind constantly engaged. His moon is afflicted and that trine to mercury is the only soft aspect he has that his moon makes; so I feel he expresses easiest his moon via mercury as his mercury has nice aspects so its easier for him to identify with his mercury. Mercury is the only planet he does not have hard aspects; he is very intellectual. He does have mercury opposite pallas; that is the only hard aspect which just adds more to him been intellectual and on his mind. If he could spend all day sharing with others what he knows and the knowledge he has accumulated on any of the topic of interests he has, he would (well to a certain point he needs time to read, learn, recharge and relax too). I have a 3rd house stellium. Mars, Mercury and Venus are in there. I'm very talkative, and I talk fast. Jupiter is also conjunct my Aquarius ascendant, so it adds to the chattiness of Aquarius.IP: Logged |

You are welcome, hypatia. I guess planet in 3rd house adds the talkative personality since 3rd house is original gemini house. Gemini usually loves communication. IP: Logged |

More specifically to the principles involved (regardless of rising sign/polarity)...Talkative = Mercury energized. Mercury is energized by Mars, Jupiter, Sun in angular aspect: conjunction, parallel, contra-parallel, square, opposition. With Jupiter or Mars even flowing aspects may seem to enhance how talkative the person is willing to be. This can only be to the Sun by conjunction or parallel (or contra-parallel if close to the celestial equator, Libra-Virgo or Aries-Pisces). Basically we are talking about the principle of Mercury being directed outwardly into as much communication as inward thought. So parallels/conjunctions to Mars, Sun, Jupiter or Uranus are the strongest ones. I have Mercury parallel Mars in my birth chart. I did not become a talkative person until my 30s. Before that I was very introverted to nominally introverted. Moon-Mercury aspects generally indicate the conversations are kept closer to home and the thoughts closer to the vest. Trust and familiarity of relations are what bring it out more. Then there is Mercury-Pluto. Not necessarily talkative. Either investigative or dictatorial (or both) -- especially the conjunction, square or opposition. Heavy-handed in communication -- until the mode of in-depth study and listening are learned. Then these people can learn quite a lot by hearing ALL of what a person is saying, including what has not been worded. ------------------ Expert rectification, professional astrology consults http://kannonmcafee.wordpress.com/ Complete desriptions of all Rising Signs: https://kannonmcafee.wordpress.com/rising-signs-2/ IP: Logged |

My friend supposedly has Taurus rising. Mercury Capricorn conjunct Neptune, sextile Pluto exact, conjunct MC from the 10th. Gemini 3rd house. He's very talkative imo. More talkative than me and I have Sag Mercury. His Leo Moon conjunct Jupiter could contribute to this too.------------------ I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy. IP: Logged |
