I was wondering what kind of placements make someone get depressed when they're not mentally stimulated.

I personally get overly depressed on weekends if I have to stay at home for XYZ reason. Same when I go on vacation. I can't just "lay" there and tan. Absolutely not. I get bored and I start looking for ways to entertain myself.

As the winter is approaching, I'm slowly starting to stay at home more and more. I'm now seriously dreading Sundays. I hate Sundays with a fierce passion. I get depressed. I'm fine during the week but Sundays are the bane of my existence. I just die.

I have Mars and Moon in Gemini. What kind of placements you you guys have?

Moon in Gemini sounds about right. I'd also say moon in 3H. I get this way and I have moon trine mercury. Also Jupiter in 1H which I believe makes me more happy when I'm taking action or am mentally active than when I am just laying around. I detest naps and being at home 24/7.

I have Moon and Mars in Gemini as well, and I tend to get restless and bored if I'm not being mentally stimulated, or when there's nothing around to amuse me at all. I can hold a lot of restless energy, and I'll often be tapping my fingers on things or shaking my legs or something. If I'm incredibly bored, I'll feel a bit depressed and sometimes feel physically tired. This is typical Gemini behavior though, so I'm not surprised I experience it often.

Funny, I've never liked Sundays either! A lot of people want to stay home and rest on Sundays because of work and stuff, but I have to be out doing something, or at least find something to entertain my mind with so I don't feel lethargic or depressed.

I do enjoy solitary things, and I like alone time, but after awhile I need mental stimulation of some kind to keep me moving. I don't always need to be doing something really physical to be happy, but if I at least can engage my mind in something, I'm probably okay.

I am NOT looking forward to the winter simply because of this...

Moon in Gemini
Square mars/mercury conjunction
Trine Uranus
Sextile sun
Conjunct mc (square asc)

I wouldn't say that it's always depression but restlessness.
I've been indoors all day today in fact and I'm crawling out of my skin.

Music? Television? A drive? Eat my boredom away? Go to sleep?
Idk....

I actually like the cold. Strange I know.

Moon in Gemini, absolutely. Other Gemini placements can make one look after mental stimulation a lot, but it would need to be a Gemini Moon to have mental stimulation and emotional needs closely tied together.

... I guess.

I don't have any Gemini placements, and I actually have Saturn in the 3rd, but I get these kinds of problems from time to time. I have an overactive mind and need mental stimulation and 'busyness' in order to feel fulfilled and content. I also dislike Sunday for its slow paced feel. When I'm home alone on Sunday, I am very tempted to call someone to talk so I have something besides my own thoughts to focus on.

Maybe I can chalk it up to being a Mars-Mercury person, and a Libra Sun. I also have Mercury in the 11th.

I don't get actual depression, but I do feel low unless I am mentally or physically active. If I don't have anything fascinating to think about, but I can go for a long walk, that'll suffice, unless I am SO bored I can't even get my imagination working, to entertain me during my walk.

I have Gemini Mars, Gemini Ceres, 3H Pluto.

It's Moon in Gemini, you also have Mars in Gemini so that too.

I have to have constant mental stimulation, I'm Moon in Gemini and will literally die of depression if I don't keep my mind active. I have to be doing something or I will become lethargic and irritated.

gem sun and mars, cap moon
i need to stay activated mentally and physically or i drop into depression. winter can be hard for that.

if i get into a low, it's hard for just mental stimulation to snap me out of it. i actually need to exert myself physically, and then my thought patterns become more healthy/positive and then I can initiate mental endeavors that keep me in the light.

Gem Moon in the 5th trine 1st house Mars... I can tolerate being lazy at home, that's fine by me. But I cannot CANNOT cannnnnnoooooootttttttttttttttttttt be in the same country for more than 6 months. I need new scenery, new people, new atmosphere. In fact, now that I think about it, for the past 4 years I haven't been in one country or state for more than 3 consecutive months. I travel every summer (even multiple times within), thanksgiving, winter, and Spring break. Even on a weekend, if I'm feeling a bit adventurous!

I get really stir crazy if I don't.

And yes, definitely feel down when I don't have anything to do. Doesn't have to be something altogether crazy but... I need mental stimulation for sure. Even if it's just fantasizing.

I have no Gemini planets, but I do have Gemini in 2nd and 3rd houses.

and honestly, I can't wait to be alone...and do nothing. Its how I recharge my mind and soul
God, I wish Gemini just didn't exist in general, I have never gotten along with a Gemini, male or female !

Hey, Mine Again.

It's most definitely your Mars in Gemini at play. My favorite way to explain Mars is that if you don't fully express this energy and find an outlet for it, you'll become depressed. Mars is active, purposeful, and dynamic. One of the major causes of depression (clinical as well as the kind that's more of a temporary mood) is feeling purposeless and inactive.

So, with Mars in Gemini, it makes absolute sense for you to be depressed if you don't have mental stimulation. Find ways to stay stimulated during those Sundays.

1. Challenge yourself to read one of those super-thick classic novels, like "Anna Karenina" or "Crime and Punishment." I promise that they will keep your mind occupied for more than a few Sundays.

2. Maybe you could start a blog. Figure out some interesting subject for your Mars in Gemini to blab about, then sign up for a free site on WebPress or Blogger. Then, just write, write, write. With those Gemini planets, I'm sure you'd be good at it.

3. Go on Netflix and find some interesting new show to get hooked on in that free time. And I don't just mean the scripted shows like "House of Cards". There's lots of great documentaries that are more intellectual and informative. I mean, Netflix is really made for Gemini. There's a show for every mood you may be in.

Just a few ideas to keep your Gemini Mars active. I have a Virgo Mars and I think the expression is pretty much the same, more or less, just earthier. But, I can't deal with too much free time, either. That's why I love doing my blog. It's a hobby that fills up my free time and keeps me productive. I need to be productive (Virgo) or else I get depressed, though I've learned to not be too obsessive about it, as well.

I think it has less do with your Gemini Moon, though. When our Moon sign isn't fulfilled, we feel more insecure or uncomfortable than depressed.
