I have thought about getting a MLS and working at a library (that's my "calling" as far as jobs go and some of my volunteer jobs with libraries have helped me in selling my skills at times), though given the absurd prices for schooling in the USA (and frankly I consider a lot of it paying premium for a half-rate education) I'd have to arrange to get schooled outside the United States (I did look into that once, I figured 2 years at a community college in the US and I could transfer to Canada under certain grants I think I could get and was also interested in a semester or two in Sweden--I saw the requirements, I could make it happen--which would be of "higher quality" at a significantly lower price, though then I'd have to figure in travel and living expenses). I even chose a Canadian school in order in which to gain the MLS after I'd gotten my bachelors which is STILL counted by the ALA (American Library Association) which means I could still work in America. But all the library politics (from library boards to state government) soured me on the idea and again I didn't want to become dependent on just one source.

Entrepreneurialim, in my eyes anyways, is more of a way of life.

I just, recently opened my own business. Does it make a ton of money? Pshhhhh, its paying for itself with a little extra...

I am a 5th house sun and mercury, 8th house moon, 11th lord in 8th house, 10th lord in 5th house, Asc lord in 5th house

From what I've read mars in 3rd house is also good for the self-made businessman

Risk enterprise is a 5th House matter, particularly with angular Jupiter and/or Pluto aspects. However, 8th House factors also adds in some help, particularly if one wants to access others' funds for capital.

Generally the two work together.

These are factors to look for in a chart that is validated as accurate. Otherwise you look for the Jupiter/Pluto aspects of high energy and drive without aversion to risk.

I have an 8th house stellium, part of it in 2 in Cap, the other in Sag. I have minimal desire to starting my own business, it's on my list of possibilities but not high. 8th house is others people money and if I weren't going to the military my list of backups includes finance and accounting as choices up there alongside of public office work, or some other governmental work like the UN or something.

My MC is Capricorn

No 5th house placements unless you count my South Node.

The 8H alone isn't an indicator - it's when in concert with 5H energy that it can indicate successful ventures, since very often entrepreneurs require capital.

Me, too. I can sort of see it in that the 5H can be about new beginnings and creativity while Leo (which is the "default setting" for the 5H and thus holds some Leonine energy) can be both ambitious & stubborn (very good qualities to starting a new venture) and also likes being at the top (rather than starting at the bottom). I recall reading in a LG book that if forced to choose a Leo employee would choose a promotion over a raise. Well start your own business and you start at the top!

But as for me, I can see my 5H Sag energies mixing together (that is the Leo of the 5H amplified by my Leo ASC combined with the Sag stellium with many other aspects that work with it) that made it so I'm "gotta be me, gotta be free."

I even quit volunteering at one library because my Leonine pride and Sag ethics (with Libra traits) was offended over a new drug testing policy, especially in how good a job I did. And since then I work because I want to have fun, but I don't define myself by my job the way many Americans do, a job is just something to pay the bills. I see the abuse many take and refuse to take it myself. My Sag also hates monotony which can make a regular job hard to bear.

And there is fun in what I do. For example, one of my jobs is helping with a birthday entertainment biz for mostly little girls (the smoking hot reference I got from the library helped make that happen), though I do so more as an independent contractor. And that job (among others) also helped me make a bunch of money (from my perspective) taking kids to see the Hannah Montana movie (technically I could've charged even more than I did, so many were desperate to get out of seeing it over and over again...probably balances out, had I charged more then less could've afforded me, as it was I had to hire or otherwise recruit help to transport all the kids over an over again, sometimes a bus load worth, each child worth $20 per trip!). I got along great with the kids as I often do, another sign of the 5H.

Other sources of income are my creative hobbies, particularly my own "originals" and also in clothes for specially sized people that the mass market ignores. Creativity fits in well with the 5H and people paying for it (sometimes A LOT) would stroke the Leonine ego. So I get praise, freedom, and with my money I don't have to punch a clock, be ordered about, be dependent on the mercy of one person or company so that they own me in a system of wage slavery, or work according to someone else's schedule (when I do get hit with demands for rush service I can generally charge more for it).
