I was thinking about this subject the other day because I have my vertex in Taurus in my eighth house opposite my pluto in 2nd house in scorpio. I've noticed whenever I have a major transit conjunct my vertex in 8th house I always meet someone who is always trying to cling or bond to me either emotionally or sometimes sexually, etc.

It's like it's out of the blue and this person just comes into my life and they are almost obsessively trying to be close to me. Every time this happens, I feel incredibly uncomfortable and attempt to break off the relationship for fear of them getting too close.

I've also had this experience in synastry with people's personal planets (Mars, Venus, Sun) hitting my vertex in Taurus in the 8th.

So, I'm wondering if it's a karmic lesson for those who have their vertex in the 8th to learn how to be emotionally, physically close to someone without fearing the intimacy of it.

Your thoughts?

I got this off of another forum:

VERTEX IN 8TH HOUSE
It is necessary for you to gain support for you to function at your best. Resolving sexual issues is necessary whether dealing with your own sexuality or the sexual problems of the public, such as abortion, pornography, and sexual crimes. You could have the ability to deal with these issues through political offices.

I also have vertex in the 8th and fear intimacy despite wanting it, but there are other major placements that point to it.

Ugh so true. Thanks for bringing light to where that comes from.

Thanks Skyberry for that insight! That's totally my issue. It's like I thought, perhaps there is a karmic part of Vertex in the 8th that one has to deal with these issues in order to reach fulfillment. For me, it's like I want that type of intimacy and closeness, but when I get it I usually reject it and run from it! Then, the men are always left feeling rejected and I feel a lot of guilt because of this. So, to get over this issue, I'm trying to let myself not get freaked out when someone wants to be emotionally/physically close to me.

I have vertex in 8th conjunct Mercury exact. Sun in 8th as well. Fear of intimacy isn't exactly an issue for me.

I'm curious to see where this thread goes though.

I don't think the vertex acts like that. It shows what other people will bring to YOU.

I think Chiron there could do that or Saturn.

Interesting so vertex in the 9th would attract teachers to me or perhaps even jobs in academia.

No, I don't see the vertex, by house or sign.

I could be wrong. I see it as a FATED point that is touched by other people and shows what other people will bring to you.

The Antivertex is what YOU bring to others.

I wonder what Kannon or Ceri would say.

I found the above in my research on it.

I agree with you Ami! I think that these issues of intimacy are most brought up when I have a transit that conjuncts or someone's personal planets conjunct my vertex. For instance, I recently had someone's sun and then another's mars conjunct within 1-2 degrees. It was very intense. With the mars case, he had his mars in taurus conjunct my taurus vertex. We had a mars opposite pluto synastry aspect that was exact! I was pluto in my 2nd and he had is mars in my 8th, hot to say the least!!

Wow! That's hilarious. My partner's a SUN, MERC-VX in 8H. He's petrified of intimacy, too, though. I've suspected mine is PALLAS and PRIAPUS in my 8H. But there are other factors which contribute to it.

Sometimes I feel a strong BML can do it.

What I have read is that vertex in the 8th craves sexual intimacy and is transformed by it but if sa turn is aspecting the ruler of your 5th I imagine your sexual expression will be limited and repressed to some extent.

Hi there Shyberry! Well his mars in taurus is conjunct my 8th house in taurus exact! Plus my vertex is conjunct his mars in taurus. I have my pluto in scorpio hovering over my 1-2nd house and it opposes his mars exact 0.36 degrees. The chemistry is just crazy and I've never felt it before. When we're in the room with other people, we don't even need to be next to each other and people will look at us and they can tell there's something between us. It's like a huge elephant in the room that no one can ignore, and keep in mind we're not even near each other when this occurs! But people can sense it. I've read a few descriptions online where they say it's a power struggle and it's an aspect that means physical abuse, but we don't experience it this way. Since my pluto is in my 2nd house of security, money, etc. and his mars in my 8th of shared resources, sex/intimacy, it sort of works both ways. He gives me that security both financially and emotionally, physically where I can begin the process of healing the wound of fear of intimacy. As long as everyone is honest, i think this mars/pluto vertex aspect is not as bad as they make it to be.
