She is my favorite astrologer for obvious reasons. I remember watching one of her videos where she said that your mother is responsible for giving you your moon sign. In a way, it makes sense because my mom as she is, isn't really the warm, caring, sensitive, and loving person that a Cancer moon is. She seems very unemotional, but when she does get very emotional, her emotions tend to be really strong that she sometimes can't control it. She says harsh things when she's mad, but she keeps all the pain she feels to herself most of the time. She is a Scorpio moon. It would make sense that she would want her first born to have some sensitivity and a maternal nature because she can't be that herself. She also probably lacked that in her childhood, as my grandma, I think, was more business-like than motherly.

Also, if your moon was given to you by your mom, then I assume, your sun was given to you by your dad. My mom told me about how my dad was in love with medieval movies where there are kings fighting each other and knights saving princesses--that kind of stuff. Ironically, all three of us, his children, were born Leo suns. It sounds weird that an Aquarius would want their kids born on their opposite sign. Well, he probably didn't know but he somehow subconsciously sent out a wish to the universe to have kids that had a regal quality to them.

What do you guys think?

I've thought about it a lot. It seems to make sense. My mom and I share a moon sign (Sagittarius), my sun and my daughter's moon are conjunct (Aries). My SO's mom is very beautiful and attention-getting with kind of a flashy personality and he is a Leo moon. My sister is a Gemini moon, my mom is Gemini rising. I'm sure I could come up with a lot more examples like that. I've also read aspects to the moon describe the mother. Moon/Pluto = controlling, overwhelming mother, Moon/Venus = beautiful mother, mother with good social graces, vain mother, Moon/Mars = angry mother or mother with masculine qualities, Moon/Jupiter = an emotionally overwhelming mother, mother who is relentlessly optimistic, etc, etc.

I don't think so. I have the same sun and moon and both of parents coudn't be anymore opposite if they tried. My parents just so happen to have gotten busy on New Years Eve and I was born months later. I honestly don't see any correlation with parents and their children's birth charts. Not many people know much about astrology or are actually picking their children's sun sign. Majority of the time siblings sharing the same sun sign is simply coincidence.

My mom's a Taurus with Scorpio moon, dad is a Leo with possible Cancer moon, I'm not sure of the year he was born. If anything I believe we marry people like one our parents, the only question being which parent.

I really like Alyssa Sharpe's videos! I think that there is truth to this. I share a Sagittarius Moon with my mom. My sister has a Gemini Moon, and my mom has a Gemini Sun. My older sister, however shares more with our father. She is his first daughter. She has a Leo rising, and dad has a Leo Moon. Not sure about this connection, but my father has Chiron in fifth house Pisces, and my older sister has a Pisces Moon.

Do you think it indicates how you perceive your parents?

For example, I've noticed people with sun-square-moon tend to view their parents as not being able to get along (but typically are not divorced). The sun and the moon do not necessarily correlate with how you view their personality per se, but whether they are similar in social disposition (wanting similar things out of society, wanting the same things for you, etc..)

I am just asking ... I don't have any conclusion yet.

@OP: my moon in aries in 11th square uranus, sesquiquadrate pluto. My sibling has moon in Aquarius, square pluto.

I have a leo IC, my sibling has an Aries IC.

So yes, what nurture us are similar. And we both see our mother as uranian and plutonian.

My mother has 11th stellium (5 planets), scorpio rising and pluto being part of the stellium.

My mother and her first sibling both have capricorn moons. Their last 2 siblings have aqua and aries moon. It was said in my family that my mother and my first aunt weren't taken cared of by our grandma; the last two however were spoiled.

In regards to my sun/moon? I'd blame that more on the aspect than the sign. The aspect makes sense the sign however doesn't.

I meant more that I just so happened to be born on the __ day of __ and it has nothing to do with my mom or dad's chart influence. My parents are very different with different parental styles. They want what all parents want, for their kid to be happy. My brother and I, who share the same mom and dad, are total opposites. His chart is even more difficult to test Alyssa's idea.

That theory doesn't really play out in my chart. Both my parents are pretty cold, abusive people yet I have Sagittarius sun and moon. Using her theory, the Sagittarius influence would suggest a more jovial, lucky relationship with my parents when that's far from the truth. It doesn't really make sense to say that your parents "gave" you anything in the astrological sense, since *we* choose when we incarnate, which means we also choose our charts.

I don't think so.

I mean, it's just me and two older sisters.

Leo/Gemini
Leo/Pisces
Cap/Libra

I don't see the connection.

My mom is Aries/Aries
My dad was Sag/Cancer

Makes a lot of sense to me.

These were the people who made you, your creators. Whatever they were then, during the creation process, that's what you will be. Like it or not, you inherit more than genetics from your parents. True, eventually we individuate and are socialized, but certain things you can't escape.

My mom has moon in Leo - the overgrown baby.

Growing up (under 10) she was mean, abusive, selfish, immature (still is), nasty, irresponsible. She cultivated fear in me. First opportunity she got to to rid herself of a child she took it & off she was to foreign shores, "to make a better life for me" ...child rearing left to others.

I have Moon in Sagittarius
sq Saturn
trine Jupiter
conj Neptune

At eighteen she appeared; arrogant, delusional, unbelievable, still in her 30s - I, age 18 was somehow refusing to accept my responsibility. WOW!!!

In an interesting development I believe my Moon sq Saturn aspect has flipped. As a child I was Moon and she Saturn, as an adult I am now Saturn - cold and distancing, w/ she as moon.
