After 6 years, my best friend has finally come to terms with this lol:

'Most of the people who really know you will eventually throw their hands in the air, knowing that you’re just going to make your own choices, anyway.'

And saved.

I had no idea this was about Mars-Uranus.

That was definitely me (Mars-Conjunct) as kid, and lingers well into adulthood. I know I've mentioned the I freaked out by my radical appearance when I showed up as a teenager when she imagined me as somewhat nerdy with glasses about to go to college from our OL interactions, and I've also repeatedly mentioned how I was far more eccentric than my Aquarian friends.

Back when I went to school I was either the coolest or the worst. Much of the school shunned me but others treated me as something of a celebrity. Back in middle school I even got invited to high school parties which I think made some of the middle school kids jealous and thus fueled hostility about me (though I did have good friends my own age and grade).

And being detached had its uses, and it's funny aspects. When one middle schooler described how she saw me killing cats (as a Satanist) for Halloween I got shocked at the idea of someone killing cats and yelled, "Why didn't you stop me!? Or at least call the cops!?" (She had no answer for that. ) Or my favorite was when an older boy on the bus asked me if it was true I worshiped Satan and I said, "Yes, and I cast spells, too, so shut up." He did, acting terrified, and I bet my laugh sounded wicked and evil to him (my adult relatives really scolded me for that when they heard of it saying I was feeding the fire).

quote:
Because of your open-mindedness, you’re most likely the kind of person who has all kinds of friends from all kinds of walks of life. You see it as your mission (Mars) to help promote more tolerance and togetherness in the world (Uranus). Prejudice is the true enemy for the typical Mars-Uranus person but you combat such prejudice by being a true example of accepting others, no matter how different they are from you. You know how to be the change you want to see in the world, as the saying goes. Many people with these aspects can really lose it over acts of discrimination and get into heated arguments over it. But, some develop a cooler, more detached attitude. You can inevitably see someone’s ignorance and hateful fear as their problem and not take it personally which, if you’re part of a minority group yourself, is a truly empowering attitude to take on.

quote:
The conjunction makes you the most defiant one in the group, which is definitely saying something. You're most likely to be so contrary that you end up totally exasperating the people around you. However, it's hard for you to curb this behavior because being rebellious is such an inherent part of your nature. Rules are made to be broken, at times, but sometimes you are simply an anarchist. However, that natural edginess is very admirable, as well, and may make you flat-out cool

This is spot on, though I've become more detached with age. Once, when several radical or fringe groups were trying to suck me in I was getting along with all of them and trying to get them to work together for the things they held in common with each other (which turned out to be hopeless) and back when I was a political anarchist I thought it healthy to get the various anarchist and "minarchist" groups to work together as without that variety it would end up the same stratified (and thus corrupt and oppressive) world we have now (that also didn't work), and in addition I mixed freely with members of some seemingly incompatible groups (it made sense to me but I don't feel like explaining it right now, this is already getting too long). And I volunteered for a lot of actions in trying to "be the change" in hopes of inspiring others but others pretty much treated me as a sucker for it.

Those geeky enough to understand alignments might understand me when I say that my head is True Neutral but my heart is Chaotic Good (and there are times my head and heart argue each other with such vigor and passion).

And I've had friends from a wide spectrum of subcultures and such "just because."

And I have, more often than not, a cool head in chaos. It's perhaps one thing that confuses a lot of people, that and how I usually shrug off how dysfunctional my family is (like not being scared or how I sent my dad a Christmas card and thinking of something I might buy him next Christmas).

Likewise, I thought of ways to throw people off. Like when I knew a guy was going to chase me in a predatory manner I went an unexpected direction to throw him off...and despite my injuries and my terror I kept a cool, calculating head through it all that allowed me to act with perseverance & strategy rather than despair & panic.

quote:
Because of this powerful desire for personal freedom, you’re not going to do well in the 9 to 5 job market for very long. It’s all too common for Mars-Uranus folks to not last long at these kinds of gigs, often abruptly quitting to pursue a path that’s much more interesting and liberating

Yep, that's why I work for myself instead. The closest I have to a regular job is one where I insist being thought of as an independent contractor who works together rather than works for. (We both profit and it prevents paperwork so we're both good with it.)
