Please, no anus jokes.

The House of Uranus is not my primary indicator for ferreting out the correct birth time. The House of Chiron MUST fit for the birth time to be correct, in my opinion. The native should be able to identify the sphere of life in which he has the preponderance of pain. Chiron should reside therein.

The House of Uranus is not as clear for diagnostic value. However, it can offer many insights into oneself and can help to confirm the proper birth time. Every person is a rebel in SOME way. I hope that I can help you to understand more about your own inner rebel and more especially, to let him fly free and unimpeded. It is his destiny and you will never be happy sans the expression of your wild child.

Uranus is the planet of the iconoclast. He breaks rules. He breaks traditions. He wears a suit to a beach party and jeans to a dinner party. He does his own thing, devil may care. Let’s study Uranus in the Houses and see where you break rules in the hopes of changing existing structures and building newer and better one.

Uranus in the 1st House
This native will appear to be a rebel. That which resides in the first house is evident to others, whether or not the native wishes it to be so. This native will appear different in some manner. The manner will change but the native will stand out in the crowd. He may, also, have a personality that does not fit the mold of his family or social group. He will have a strong drive to be his own person and do his own thing, in common parlance.

Uranus in the 2nd House
This native may be an innovator in the realm of money. The 2nd House deals with ALL materials which make up the affairs of the earth. He may be a gardener, a builder or a banker but he will be an innovator in that which relates to the 2nd House. If he is a banker, he will plan innovative deals. If he is a gardener, he may discover innovative ways to combine vegetables or fruits to make hybrids. He may discover innovative, natural methods for insect reduction. One must take the nature of the house and put forth a splash of genius and one will be on the way to discovering the role of Uranus in that house.

Uranus in the 3rd House
This native may communicate in an innovative way. He may break barriers such as a Joan Rivers( one of my beloved role models), Ali G( another) or Lenny Bruce. I respect people who will stand up and tell it like it is. In this current society, we have so many people who are huddled like sheep in a politically correct pen. Uranus in the 3rd House provides the inspiration and, often, the perspiration, as well.

Uranus in the 4th House
This native may be an innovator in the area of children’s issues. I think of Alice Miller, one of the foremost authorities on child abuse. She is an advocate for the child, despite a great deal of rejection from fellow professionals. She is an iconoclast. Her work has helped many, many abused children reclaim their power.
This native may, also, be an innovator in areas related to the 4th house such as real estate, cooking or the field of home business. Think of a chef who has changed the face of the cooking world such as a Julia Childs. That would be a classic example of Uranus in the 4th.

Uranus in the 5th House
This native may be a Casanova. I have seen this with a 5th House stellium complete with an Unaspected Uranus. (The Unaspected Uranus is Uranus on steroids but that is for another day.) The 5th House is the House of romance, children and creativity. Hence, this native may provide an out of the box approach to any of the aforementioned subjects. Perhaps Mr Rogers had Uranus in the 5th. He provided a unique retreat for children in his magical, television neighborhood. I would ascribe a 5th House Uranus to Jim Henson, the inventor of the Muppets or Amy Winehouse who gave us her heart and soul, with song.

Uranus in the 6th House
The native with a 6th House Uranus may innovate in areas of practical service. I have a client who is an award winning hair stylist in the fashion world. She sends me pictures and my jaw drops at her creativity. Any job which provides practical service would be under the rubric of the 6th House. Hence, a nurse or a teacher who made a unique contribution to her students or patients would be included in this category. Think of a teacher who makes her student’s learning environment come alive with magic. Some nurses have branched far afield of traditional medicine into acupuncture or homeopathy, out of the box medical practices in our current society. These would be examples of Uranus in the 6th House.

Uranus in the 7th House
This native may have “break ups and make ups” in relationships, particularly marriage. I think of Liz and Dick when I write about this placement. However, they must have had Uranus conjunct the MC in the Composite because their relationship played out on the world stage. However, the native with Uranus in the 7th may never have clear sailing when it comes to marriage. He may be too restless to settle down with one person. He may test the boundaries of the relationship to such a degree that it fractures. Uranus in the 7th is not one that most people would choose. However, everyone has certain placements they wish they could jettison.

Uranus in the 8th House

This native may be kinky. Uranus makes for kink when it resides in the House of Kink, the 8th House. This native will probably not be a sexual or emotional prude ( I coined a new word). He may break barriers in Psychology or any field which deals with subjects that deal with issues below the surface of polite society. Dr Ruth broke barriers with her unique approach to sex education and sex therapy. This would be a classic example of a Uranus in the 8th.

On the other hand, a surgeon who discovered innovative approaches to surgery would fall in this category, as well. Surgery is an 8th house subject. Think of De Bakey, the first surgeon to perform a heart transplant.

Uranus in the 9th House
The 9th House is the domain of the intellect. It is, also, the House of Astrology. I don’t know of Linda Goodman had a 9th House Uranus but she was a true innovator. She brought Astrology to the masses. For that, she was reviled by others who thought she was too “simplistic”. An innovator does not worry about the opinions of others. If he did, he would quell his spirit, rendering it impotent. One’s spirit is needed for lift and thrust.

My favorite author is Stephen King. He is nothing if not an innovator in the field of fiction. On a smaller scale, a professor who makes his subject come alive through unusual methods could be included in this group. I think of David McCollum who made several of the US presidents larger than life in his fascinating PBS series. He was an innovative teacher of higher learning, a 9th house domain.

Uranus in the 10th House
This is my Uranus placement. I have an out of the box career. It seemed as if my life led me to out of the box careers. I worked for an acupuncturist and a homeopath. I, always, had a passion for Astrology but was told by other Christians that it was from the dark side, so never pursued it until the loss of my son. At that point, I did not care if I was unconventional, otherwise known as weird. I wanted to give God my life and my abilities and let Him do what He wanted with them. Hence, I have a career that makes people drop their drinks at cocktail parties.

Enough about me, a person with Uranus in the 10th House may need an unconventional workplace and schedule. He may need to be his own boss. He may need to do things his own way. The last thing Uranus wants in any house, is to fit into a proscribed mold. Hence, the native wit Uranus in the 10th may need to be his own boss.

His choice of career may be a novel one that is considered “weird” by the general society.

Uranus in the 11th House

This native may be a member of off beat groups. I had to laugh when the recent convention of furry animals came to light. If you had not heard of it, people dress up in the manner of Disney characters. They have a convention, dressed in full furry animal regalia. I would imagine that many of these members have an 11th house Uranus. On the other hand, the 11th House Uranus may be an innovator in a more traditional group. He may lead an established group to more innovative ways. In another vein, I think of Bill W and AA. He formed an organization which started in his home and has helped millions around the globe.

Uranus in the 12th House
If Uranus in the 8th is kink, Uranus in the 12th is SUPER kink. Also, Uranus in the 12th is hidden kink and hidden kink is, always, more intense than expressed kink, even if the expression is for a select few, as for the 8th House native. Uranus in the 12th may have a great deal of guilt about his fetishes, of which he is prone. My advice for the 12th House Uranus native is to have a few trusted close, friends and to tell your secrets. We are only as sick as the secrets we keep and this is the truth

Uranus in 4th here.

In agree with what you've wrote. Also, I would add, that I changed residency quite frequently. While I appreciate stability, I don't mind moving much. Also, my home is full of unusual objects, but that could be my Retro Venus

As always, great article😊

Isn't there a more negative side of Uranus tho? Like it would make that part of your life really erratic?

I have Uranus in the sixth, and I don't identify with this interpretation. I can see the potential maybe, and I definitely think thy I made more mundane parts of life fun for my siblings, probably because of this placement. But I also feel that normal, every day service oriented things are things that I treat very irregularly. I might be very very neat and tidy or just great at my job one day and really put a lot of passion and spark into it, and then the next day (or week, or whatever) I just let it all go to hell. I couldn't care less if the dishes are washed or if my car is a mess or not. This part of my life is subject to a lot of ups and downs.

I have a sixth house stellium with moon, Uranus and Neptune, in addition to two of my Liliths. I honestly couldn't care less about things concerning this part of my life most of the time. I always attributed that to my Uranus being there.

Uranus scares me more than any other planet, even Chiron. It does very little in my chart, Thank God. It conjuncts Jupiter and that is it but I have seen it really mess up people. I know that doesn't help lol but I am always honest.

No I appreciate it. Personally at the beginning of a Uranus transit, it feels great, albeit restless! I feel so energized and inspired in the area of the house it's in. It's in my tenth house now and I'm re-evaluating my whole life. Like, everything. I find myself wanting to turn my whole life upside down, and the prospect excites me!

When it went into the ninth house I became extremely religious. Extremely. It was my whole life at the time.

Uranus in the 2nd. I am really innovative with making money. I want to create my own business, sell my art work, and do at-home jobs over the computer. I'm applying for transcriptionist work tonight. I love independent, flexible and non-traditional jobs of that nature, and anything where I can type, and quickly.

The only downside? Unpredictable income. It's absolutely true, and it bothers the hell out of me. I hate that I lose jobs randomly, as quickly as they come, mostly because I break rules, defy authority by questioning my work regimen, or being late. That's why I'm looking for alternative styles of work.
