I had this, this year. Saturn majorly aspected my ASC, Sun, Moon, Mars and MC. So it was a maturing patch for me. Don't be too nervous about Saturn, he is great! The only people who say he's bad are the people who don't embrace what he offers. (Good or bad).

I think it depends on several things how a Saturn transit over Sun and other personal planets would manifest. Think of Saturn as indicating a time of harvest - you reap what you sow. This means, if you worked hard for something during the past 7 or even 14 years, and went unrewarded so far, Saturn can bring the reward. Conversely, if you neglected to do something that should have long been done, Saturn will perhaps make that necessity very obvious. You can make preparations for the transit over your Sun in a similar way you would prepare your house for a hurricane. That said, oftentimes people feel this transit as dampening their spirits, isolating them from others, and slowing down projects / delaying things from working out. The Scorpio crowd is just about through with it, you can ask a few Scorps how they experienced that transit if you like, and from this, you can get a rough picture of its effect.

In my experience the manifestation of the Saturn over Sun transit also depends on what meaning Saturn has in your own chart. What house does he rule? How is Saturn placed and aspected? If Saturn is overall a benevolent force in your chart, I wouldn't worry about its transits all so much. To illustrate what I mean, for me it's that way with Pluto. Many people fear Pluto transits but for me they have been very beneficial overall, probably because of its positive significance in my chart. Saturn, on the other hand, is afflicted and in detriment in my chart, and my Sun is placed in the 8th house and part of a very stressful aspect configuration, and when Saturn crossed this point in 2003, all kinds of 8th house related things happened covering the full spectrum of that house's symbolism, that I won't bore (or scare) you with. Let's just say it was an intense and transformative experience that left no stone unturned. However, to be fair, without that experience I wouldn't be where I am today so it was, though painful, an overall very beneficial, even necessary transit - with hindsight, at least.
