astro.com and astrotheme only show transits using UT time (mountain time) It's too confusing to figure it out here in EST.Anybody know of a good app or website that show the transits using EST (eastern standard time)? IP: Logged |

Yes :-)PlanetWatcher gives a real-time visual as it aligns itself to the settings on your device. So if you're set for EST that is what you will see. ...that's the way it seems anyway. I remember trying to "promote" this site earlier and everyone seemed 'meh' about it. I think it's so cool Only drawback is no ASC/Chart action, just basic planetary motion. IP: Logged |

bummer...this site also show transits in UTC. I contacted the site manager to see if there is a way to show in EST. I'll keep you updated. IP: Logged |

Ok, please do :-) I've yet to look at apps for such, but not everyone has a mobile device so there's that too.IP: Logged |

Here's an update from thinking about this a bit more, I refreshed the PlanetWatcher page to get an accurate read on the Moon as per that site for a specific time. Then I went on astro.com and drew up a chart with that same time and date for my specific location. The Moon in the astro.com chart was exactly the same (to the minute) as on PlanetWatcher; everything was exact to the minute. For my purposes this is what I need; the Moon is the main deal, but of course everything else. Give it a try I am noting that on the outer ring there is a time and date corresponding to UTC but it does seem that the time I reference in the search box (by default aligned to my device) is the main driver of the placements produced. Hi Lonake, i heard back from the PlanetWatcher people. The site links to the time zone of your computer. So you were right, it should be showing us in EST. IP: Logged |

Hi, I'm a little confused hereWouldn't UT be Universal Time? That is the same as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) which is London time. If you're in New York (EST) you add 5 hours to get to GMT San Francisco you add 8 (PST) ------------------ "There ain't no revolution, only evolution, but every time I'm in Georgia I 'eat a peach' for peace." I took UT as UTAH, which is Mountain time. You could be right though... (scratching head) IP: Logged |
