Yep, I have my mars in Leo and I can be VERY driven! I also have a lot of Saturn so I am an extremely hard worker. BUT Leo Mars can also also be lazy so that in combination with my Taurus sun gives me my laziness. I think you have to take in more than just the sign..aspects as well.IP: Logged |

Also look at which house your Mars is in, and if it majorly aspects one of your angles. (Asc, Mc, DSC or Ic) I have my Mars in Leo in 10th house, conjunct Mc. I always pour lots of energyinto career aspirations and exercising. Mars does need help to stay motivated, this is where Saturn can help! But initial energy comes from Mars. IP: Logged |

Mm yeah I definitely do! But I agree with tgem.. you have to consider aspects as well.I have natal Mars in Cancer (it's debilitated there), so on paper I should be a lazy, sneaky person lol. I am lazy to an extent but when it comes down to it I will do what I need to do in order to be successful. But my sun is in Taurus, ascendant in Leo, with midheaven conjunct asc. Which I guess is supposed to indicate career/vocational success in the public forum/also indicates someone who will work hard to get there eventually.. key word eventually haha IP: Logged |

I do believe it's the main indicator. Mar's sign, house, and aspects can really draw most of the picture but not all of it.I get somewhat annoyed when people see my chart and think I have problems with confidence or asserting myself. (I have Mars in the 12th, and Mars square Neptune and Saturn) Or That my drive is diminished because Mars is in the 12th I can see their point bit it totally ignores the rest of my make up. At the end of the day I'm still a Scorpio Sun, Capricorn Moon with a Capricorn MC. So yes, my Mars has aspects that indicate self confidence issues, and a dampening of the drive but how low confidence can a positively aspected Sun Scorpio Capricorn Moon combination be? Or my drive? The 12th Mars definitely feels dampened but that Capricorn MC really makes me want success and I can't shake that want which can make the 12th house Mars a little more balanced especially since the Mars sextiles my MC. So for my chart if you just looked at my Mars you'd think I was a shy, and lazy lad until you combined it with my whole make up Edit: Also theres transits. I'm undergoing a Saturn trine Mars transit and my energy and discipline is without fault so far.

Being driven relates more to me to Saturn. That inflexible determination that pushes you to do thing and not quit. I see Mars as initiating things that passionate you. People with strong mars are hot tempered, and are not reluctant to take actions when an issue arise. IP: Logged |

I had a very neat answer for this. But upon pondering it further,I have changed my mind.Drive is to me the ability for one to stick to something and perservere until success beckons. So with that in mind,Mars does play a role. But whether or not the actual drive is determined by the sign where Mars is placed,is another story. Usually Mars in Scorpio/Aries gives a clear sense of where one is going. Also Capricorn and Taurus. The goal is usually clear. But say if your Mars is in Libra,Pisces or Gemini, the options are expanded and decision-making is tough. That is what I think brings on the lack of clarity. You have so many possibilities open. And choosing one path is not easy. But once the decision is made, than clarity comes. With some signs, the clarity may come quicker than mutables. But the will to succeed will be there when the goal is visible. Other aspects can help with having to never lose hope.Never forsaking the original vision of what one wants to achieve. IP: Logged |

I think the whole chart needs to be read, but I have Cancer Mars in 12th and I'm very driven to realize and manifest my aspirations -- it's taking a long time (Saturn in 10th...late-bloomer) but I still have not given up. Both Sun, Mars, Saturn, Pluto are driven planets.Although I have Mars in 12th at Fall, my Mars has many aspects, as do my Saturn and Pluto. I also think angular planets can make one very driven. I wouldn't say just your Mars but your whole chart. It all works together. IP: Logged |

agree. you can have a strong mars (ie aries) but the aspects it makes or the house it's in could weaken the drive/assertiveness. you can also have a 'weaker' mars and if it conjuncts, for example, pluto or the sun, that person will be extremely driven, regardless of the sign. aspects, i think, make a difference but, fundamentally, the drive imo does stem from mars IP: Logged |
