I have Regulus conjunct Sun in my natal chart with a really tight orb less than 0°30' (house 11).

I'm really worried about the possible destructive effect it may have. Is Regulus always also sinister? Can it somehow be prevented?

Regulus is a fixed star so alot of people have this who where born around end of sign leo

Having SUN conjunct a royal star is not bad at all - especially REGULUS, which is naturally ruled by the SUN, anyway. It's the most regal of the four stars, and implies a destiny for great things. You will shine as a groundbreaker or leader. I fail to see what there is to worry over.

Only when misused. It's like a knife. Can carve houses, slice edibles into mouth-sized bites, can fashion useful tools, even save lives. But when misused, it can maim, destroy, and even kill someone. Unless you have a very afflicted chart, I have serious doubts REGULUS will cast you into the abyss. REGULUS is a potent energy, is all.

Think of the concept of noblesse oblige. You have a responsibility at the top, but it is rewarding for everyone when utilized correctly.

The good and the bad apply to ALL celestial objects. The description you found lists both in the same breath, but everything floating up in the black has positive as well as negative manifestations. The SUN is your health and vitality. But it is also your ego and pride.

Your responsibility in life is to live as gracefully and amiably as you can, regardless of what gifts or hindrances you were born with. That is what will ultimately define you as a person. REGULUS will assure recognition, even acclaim for such things.

The challenge of Regulus is to avoid revenge. There seems to be a lot of warrior energy to Regulus. You must act like Osiris did to the Egyptians: create peace and civilization, giving laws to his people. Great success if revenge is avoided. (The story of King Feridun of Persia who ruled the entire world. He divided it between his three sons, but the older two killed the younger brother for his share. The father took revenge and they all lost) Aim high with Regulus but maintain awareness of your actions.

Yeah, there's really no need to worry. I have two violent fixed stars conjunct personal planets and Nessus is pretty prominent too. As long as you exercise caution over the dark side of your personality, you'll be fine. Even just being aware is enough because you begin to take steps towards not becoming the negative side of your horoscope.
