I love researching it. I have since a child.

Anything and everything about it is fascinating, and scary.

Im also heavily enthralled with ghosts. Ghost shows, paranormal horror movies, rea life experiences..
All at the top of my list.

I attribute this to my 8th house moon.
Any other out there?

It can become an isolated feeling because its such a taboo topic.

It is hard for me to talk about death because I have such a positive attitude about it. My attitude bothers people. I haven't lost a mother, father, or sibling yet, so I haven't felt the pain of loss those deaths bring, but other than the loss the people who are left behind feel, I have a positive outlook. To me death is not the end. My uncle and grandmother communicate with me regularly. My grandmother in my dreams. And somehow letters my uncle sent me when I was younger pop up in strange places when I need a reminder. I just believe that death is a transition. A hard one, but maybe not harder than birth...I'm down for talking about death. Your Moon is in the 8th house. My Sun is in 12. We can do this

People's attitudes about death can be a pretty good litmus test for their overall fear level in life. After all, it is your life and your death. Why not consider it and start co-creating it. To do so is to co-create the life that fills the space between. If you want to die in peace with love around you, then you have a good idea of how to live your life -- in peace, reaching out in love.

For over a decade now I have been pretty comfortable with death, considering my own mortality and envisioning how I want to die, as well as with all topics surrounding death -- and like you Fairaqua -- that 'paranormal' territory between biological life and the afterlife/metaphysical. My favorite TV show even though we don't have TV service (we watch it on DVD from our library) is The Dead Files. LOVE that show.

My birth chart ...
[here: http://kannonmcafee.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/kannon-validated-birth-chart.gif
... has Sun conjunct Saturn in the 8th house. Moon in the first house of endings, the 4th. I'm very practical, but with a sneaky occult streak in the background, but which I don't take too seriously. To be honest I'd rather watch Amy work her magic on The Dead Files than study written occult material or dabble in it.

Venus2tinkerbell is right -- death is not an 'end' to anything, but this particular lifetime/body. Death is a doorway that we go through repeatedly, most of us. Those who are more comfortable with it are probably those of us who have done it the most and/or have not had traumatic experiences that give us hesitation over it.

Some of my favorite things related to this are people's stories of their Near Death Experiences (NDE). This shows that death/birth is a two-way door and that consciousness can exist and does continue outside the human body. The materialists rationalists are just dead wrong, and boring too. Life is more interesting than 'brain matter gives rise to consciousness.'

I like Edgar Cayce's summary that Spirit is the life, Mind (consciousness) is the builder and the Physical is the result.

Dreaming is a very good and natural place to gain the freedom and power inherent in our own metaphysical being. Its where/when we fly free anyway. The aboriginals of Australia have learned to extend this into the dreamtime of a waking pursuit of vision. This is what happens naturally it seems when a people are so in touch with inner/outer nature that they become sensitized to the spirit(s) that are omnipresent in all life.

Death = litmus test for your personal fear level. It may sound morbid, but it absolutely is not for me to say I have been looking forward to my death for years now, because I know it will be a great, soul shaping experience and I plan for it to be good. Many people on hearing such a thing will react with skepticism or arguments that a person does not get to choose their mode of death or determine such outcomes. Watch me. If you live as long as I do, because in spite of looking forward to a very positive, soul shaping experience of passing over, I plan to live a long time.

Anyway, I could ramble on for hours. Good topic.

I know that Ami Anne addressed the astrology of death elsewhere and I hope my somewhat terse answer didn't put her/others off, but we could address the astrology of death here -- if you are interested.

Here's my opinion....
It's only hard on the ones left behind, for the ones who die it's a release from the bondage of all the pain physical life brings. It's like a break, a timeout to refocus and gives your higher self/soul a chance to recheck your strategy and to plan a better strategy, using the new growth you attained in the life you just left, before you reenter the game.
When you die, one day is like a thousand human years....so you'll be back in a split second to your soul's clock.
Look at all your lives as the game of life...you jump out of the game to get some water, catch your breath, look at the strategy book, refocus and jump back in ready to go again.

Now for those who got so lost in the pain of the game that even in death their guilt, shame and pain cannot be shaken and they forgot their higher self.
Even in death they can get stuck here in the physical. As spirits their lives drag on like they are physical bodies...they are not bad, evil or condemned.
They have lost their way and lost touch with their higher self. Many times they carry so much fear, guilt and doubt of who they are or that they are worthy of love or life they will not allow themselves to feel it or see the light of their energy and life force....their fears refuse to allow to see anything but darkness.
They need help to overcome this...they stay here until they finally are found by someone who can help, either someone exposes something that helps release them from whatever they are holding onto/for or a medium helps them find their way to reconnect to their higher self.
Whatever the reason they finally become strong enough and are released from the guilt or whatever they are holding onto/for.
Many of these are the ones who suffer the only true hell there is, and unfortunately it's self inflicted. Yes, suicides are ones that get stuck the most, mainly because they got so caught up in their fears they lost sight of the light of love and life...they carried that over into their death. They still can't see the light of love in death just as they refused to accept it in life, so they have no light to follow and are trapped in the self inflicted darkness from being in this plain of existence but not being part of it.

Murders also can get trapped also because they have a purpose, they want the truth to come out.
They momentarily get lost in the pursuit of justice or maybe it's making sure karma is carried out, it temporarily overrides their higher self calling them home.
Once they guide people to what needs to be known and it's found out they no longer have a need to stay. They go back home to start strategizing again for their next life.
There's other situations also they make ppl stay around but this is all just my opinion...so I won't go on about it.

@Kannon. Yes ~ I talked a lot on Ami's thread.

Well...

I have an 8th house Pisces moon. I relate to the loneliness you mentioned, fairaqua. It's not that I'm the only one interested in death and the taboo...not exactly...

It's more like my interest is very personal, connected to losing people.

edit

As for "death & entertainment," two of my favorite books are by Rachel Naomi Remen, MD. She counsels people who are dying and has a lot of stories about the kinds of things people are learning, saying, and doing at that threshold. There's often much healing taking place there.

Another book I love is Tattoos on the Heart, basically about gang warfare in L.A.

And "Dying to be Me" by Anita Moorjani.

Actually the more I think of it, there really are a lot of books on dying in my library. I suppose I feel "at home" there.

Good time to talk about this...with the transiting moon in Scorpio.

@venus2tinkerbell

The hard part about losing people is usually in watching them physically and emotionally suffer. Even though I trust people are in a better place, the memory of their suffering is very real to me still, and it is hard to imagine their transformation.

Well

Sorry to be morbid but that's the point of this thread, right?

Just a quick contribution:

I'm just taking a quick peek at LL and don't even have time to read this thread yet, but I'll be back. I just wanted to share that because I'd probably forget all about it later, and it sounds like something that would interest you.

I am terrified and fascinated by death. I don't do well with loss. If I lost my boyfriend I would die. Sometimes I feel like I have to convince myself he isn't that great just so the thought of losing him won't completely suffocate me.

I can't believe that a life can simply be snuffed out like a candle. In a split second. At any time. Anywhere. For no reason at all. People are so fragile.

I can't see any meaning in a life where you just die like that. And you're gone.

I research death to better understand it. Sometimes I need to forget it if I want to be happy, but it's always looming in the back of my head,

Its interesting that we all are fascinated in different ways.

What signs are ruling over your 8th houses?

Mine is Aries (Mars in 3rd house Scorpio).
I am fascinated about ways people die (violent deaths mostly. Car accidents, suicide, drug overdoses, etc), what happens to the body after death (as far as embalming, funerals, etc), how long it takes for bodies to decay in different circumstances, the emotional turmoil people feel, whats possibly left behind (ghosts)

Present! I think about death and what may come next every day. I already have my perfect funeral planned in my head. I'm not afraid of dying. What scares me is the thought losing someone I'd love this way. I'd rather be the one to leave this planet, to be honest.

I've been fascinated with ghosts since I remember. I've never seen one but I think I was visited by my deceased uncle in a dream shortly after his death. I tried to comfort and guide him in my mind before falling asleep and then I dreamt about him. I couldn't recall what he said to me but seemed happy and grateful. I believe the spirits who for some reason got stuck in the ether after their earthly lives came to an end should be gently escorted "higher" (well, if the ghost acts maliciously then maybe not so gently) instead of being expelled like some demons. There's no point in shooing them away, it's about helping them move on. I can see myself belong to a team that deals with this phenomenon. I'd be more excited than scared to interact with ghosts and I think I'd know how to talk to them.

Now the astro part:
I have Pluto in the 3rd, Scorpio. It's widely opposite my 8th house ruler, Mars. The Cap-Sat influence probably contributes too. Sun conjunct Neptune.

Mars trine Saturn and NN, quincunx Moon and Mercury, trine Venus, conjunct MC widely from the 9th.

Anubis in the 8th opposite Moon. Hades conjunct MC. First and last name asteroids in the 8th.

------------------
I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy.

My 8th is Aries too. With Mars in the 8th in Taurus. I have Pluto in the 2nd. Death is pretty surreal to me. I'm terrified by it but I also feel like it can't touch me. Even though I understand that idea is stupid. Everything reminds me of my own and my loved ones mortality. It's like a huge hang up. And a lot of my decisions are based with the idea of death looming over my head...

Pisces.

Maybe that's why I have guilt about not doing more to ease and comfort my loved ones through that passage (even though I did a lot...objectively I know that.)

Also, feeling their suffering like it was my own.

That's a really good point. I think that same fear has cooled my responses to people...I'm very affectionate but have a difficult time with genuine attachment. Because the flip side, separation, is so hard.

In my mind, dark subjects (like death) are fair game, but when I mentioned death to my mother last night, her reaction was, "David! You shouldn't say things like that!"

I told her that my death will be an all-or-nothing situation -- I'll either die tragically or peacefully in my sleep. That's probably my Scorpio Moon talking, but here's my question: do you think that we have an idea about how we're going to die?

And perhaps some background music for this thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYGKxxTXqSs "Everybody dies."

Ever see the movie Stand By Me with River Phoenix? Where they go to see *the body.*

Loved that movie when I was young, but the corpse was so corpse-y looking. Too real, it freaked me out.

For me I think it's my Gemini MC (along with Scorpio placements) that make me want to include death in seeing the pattern and what the greater puzzle looks like. Having been somewhat brutally introduced to death when I was 4 and having seen and known people killed when I was 15 would only exacerbate that.

However, my 8H is Pisces...and I'm more fascinated by the transformations, both in the dead and those still living, particularly from a spiritual/psychological point of view.
