Also, Aries likes to avoid conflict if possible. Sort of like its opposite, Libra, in that it will gloss over an issue that it deems unimportant. Now, if Aries considers something to be important, that's when you gotta watch out. But most issues in their eyes are trivial and can be ignored. Especially with the Venus on the ASC.
Cancer may feel more emotionally attached to communicating the issue. Not that they would be more emotional about whatever they're communicating, (though it's likely that they would be) but that they would 'feel' that it is necessary to talk about, while Aries just doesn't.
So the Cancer could be more sharp in that sense. Especially with the Mars on the ASC. It becomes personal to them.
Plus, isn't the 11th house an air house? All about the communication there.
The 1st house Aries Mercury probably wouldn't be forward and sharp unless it directly affected/offended them in some way. Keep in mind that there's often two basic sides to Aries- anger and easy going-ness. So if a subject doesn't really get them riled up and prepared for war, don't expect them to care about it much. They would probably be a bit more selfish and laid back in discussing issues than the Cancer mercury.
