Guys...

I just want to make sure I am not just screwing this up...are there name asteroids for either of the names below?

Eli or Joseph.

I looked around the internet and couldn't find anything...

And besides that...is this even worth looking up. I read on a website that name asteroids are important in platonic and romantic relationships.

How on Earth is Joe, Joey, or Joseph not an asteroid? It's literally one of the most common names on the face of the planet.

I don't know of an Eli but Joseph...Josefa(649)

There is a Joeharm I used to get a kick out of because every Joe I came into contact with hurt me, so Joeharm was what I dedicated to them, both the guys had this asteroid hitting me in painful ways....I know it's only coincidence but I thought it was funny.

And yet...there is a name asteroid of a girl that we both knew that he really liked...that falls in his 7th house.

Wow.

I don't know, probably some astronomers last name or the name had significance to them....it seems odd to me to. I wish they named the asteroids with us astrologers in mind! Lol

The guy I loved the most had his name in my aura and mine on his Pluto.

His first and last name where exact conjunct in his chart.
My first and last name opposed each other on my AC/DC angle.
Id always hated my name, it reminded me of my painful past so changed it.

Personally, I think there is significance if it is the actual, exact name.

My name asteroid in my chart falls in Taurus and I am the most hedonistic person I know. totally fits.

Yeah but some of the most basic names in the world aren't in the IAU database...so I don't think it's reliable. I mean...come on -- JOEY is one of the most BASIC names in the world. ELI (my name)-- like...come on guys. That's clearly what parents name up and coming wizards!

DISCLAIMER - I have had a sip tonight so please excuse my silliness online tonight.

My given name asteroid is conj my SUN, and my family name asteroid is conj my AC-SN. I think it has relevance, but you might be out of luck if no asteroid has anything close to what you're called.

In addendum, there are actually certain naming conventions that must be followed before any sky rock name suggestions are officially approved.

For example, if an object is found to be part of the centaur group (ie - where CHIRON, NESSUS, PHOLUS, CHARIKLO, etc reside), it must be named after a centaur. If part of a pre-existing group, same rules apply. A lot of amateur astronomers that are lucky enough to be the first one to discover an object also seem prone to naming it after themselves or a loved one - provided no rules apply. You must also remember, not everyone speaks English. Some names may seem very odd to you, but are perfectly sensible in another language.

5167 JOEHARMS was probably modeled on someone's first and last name.

Of course I had to find out!

5167 JoeHarms was discovered in 1985 by Carolyn S Shoemaker and named after an Australian geologist!

His name was John (Joe) Eric Harms. It's possible he is still alive as the end of the biography about what his is doing now is in the present tense.

Personally, I think that as there are so many people without name asteroids (including me) then it's all just fun coincidence.

This is quite fascinating! I had never heard of name asteroids before

Looked it up and was surprised to see that my ex partner has her Sun conjuct my name asteroid in natal,
my Sun,Juno,Merc conj her name & Lust ,
my name conj her Pluto

Could also be why there is such a strong connection. Interesting
