Since the 9th house is about beliefs, would saturn in this house make a person an atheist or at least question their beliefs...at lot..and rely more on hard core evidence as opposed to faith? What placements or aspects would an atheist have you think? Also if there are any atheist in the building please feel free to share as I am very curious about this! IP: Logged |

Hey, Babybull!I have Capricorn venus, mars, saturn, uranus and neptune on my 9th house. Also i'm studying a major in philosophy at the moment. First i was a theist, then i questioned it and turned to be an atheist. Now, as i couldn't find a proof that God exists or doesn't, i identify myself as an agnostic. I also question my beliefs a lot, but i don't know whats the reason exactly, since i have pisces sun. To rely more on hard core evidence is an interesting fact, since it leads to skepticism and is as safe as nothing, except the case that you get more habit oriented. So, as Socrates said, "i know that i know nothing" is my motto hahahaha and, btw, i secretly believe in things like astrology and karma and these things, altought they don't make sense at all if examined by the reason. So yes, i question myself a lot (as pretty much everything) and i don't like cheap talk at all. IP: Logged |

I wonder if a 9H Saturn could instead make an "Inquisitor" type personality, oppressing others (from atheists to even those of the same denomination) in the name of his (or her) God. I understand one of the dark sides of Sag (which could apply to the 9H in this case) is that when it comes to religion they can become very much about the rules and ritual over their meanings and significance. Saturn in this position would provide a respected explorer out beyond the scope of worldly faiths and into the experiencing domains of what's not known. This position could confer an ability to be inclusive of the big picture (and other beliefs) and yet also hold the structure of defining these far flung out findings into an accepted and worldly form to bring meaning rather than just some wacky idea. Perhaps a teacher or academic and one who carries both the authority and responsibility of sharing these findings? Just one way to see it. But the chart as a whole ought to be looked at.

The only atheist I know, off the top of my head - true atheist, not an agnostic - has an empty 9H, with Aries on the 9H cusp. His Pisces MARS sits in the 8H, forming a t-square by (out-of-sign) opposition to Libra PLUTO, and his Gemini SUN-SATURN.SUN-SATURN conjunction may play a bigger role, as it makes a native very critical and judgmental by nature. My sister is also a SUN-SATURN, and while not atheist, she is still non-religious. IP: Logged |

I have Saturn in Virgo in the 9th. It is widely conjunct Sun in Libra; more closely conjunct Venus and Mercury, and opposite Moon in Pisces. Not an atheist, although I've come close from time to time. Mostly, I've searched all my life for a spiritual community and never found any that "fits" what I've come to believe. I do like the ritual, but not the rules, of some groups with which I've dabbled. To the contrary, it is the silly and rigid rules that send me packing. Typically, I see the similarities, not the differences, in the radically varying traditions I've studied: everything from Siddha Yoga to Catholicism to Judaism to Mormonism to Buddhism to... I am what could be considered an atheist. 9H Aries cusp with Taurean Mars taking up residence there. This Mars opposes a 3H Mercury in Scorpio. I have ALWAYS been skeptical even when I did have a belief system. ------------------ Claire "When going gets weird, the weird turn pro." -HST IP: Logged |

Fireopal09, joking BTW! Funny we had the same inspiration. Yeah, Aries would be one of the choices for sure, what about oppositions, squares to Neptune, this may be an indicator along with the moon and mercury? Also, have you a strong uranian influence in your chart?IP: Logged |

This interests me!My 9th house is empty (Virgo), and ruler is in first. Mercury is trine Jupiter and quintile Pluto, and in my 1st house. I think it might have to do with my Cap stellium too. I'm with piscesearthed, I need actual proof that God exists. I wouldn't say I am atheist though, because I'm more aligned with Buddhist teachings. @PJ- that is an interesting theory! Have you come across any charts of people you consider "inquisitors" to see if this is common? IP: Logged |

^^No...and I've thought of names but I don't know their time of birth even if I could get their location. And just to be clear I'm not thinking of projection, I don't see anything Sag about that even if it's a fallen Sag. It should be more someone who is very much into an orthodoxy "because it's the rules/tradition" rather than "I feel terrible about my sin, who can I persecute to make me feel better about myself?" I also want to make clear that I don't see Sag as likely to be that extreme, all signs have good and bad manifestations. I've read that when Sag goes bad their penchant for philosophy can become iron bound and very much into the rules & tradition rather than deviating from it, and tends to be manifested in the older Sags. But I was wondering if any inquisitor types did have that placement and if so what else was in their chart (as well as how common it is).
