As in, someone who doesn't appreciate a goofy sense of humour or is very hard to make laugh?

I myself have a very goofy sense of humour and am always giggling to myself about something, but I have a friend who I have a very hard time making laugh because he just does not/cannot appreciate a silly joke. Anytime I try to steer a conversation towards something lighthearted he resists and steers it back towards something more heavy like business or politics. He doesn't seem to process anything in an abstract sense - everything is black or white. The only person I have ever seen him laugh really hard with is his best friend who has a very dry, sarcastic sense of humour.

What aspects could make someone like this?

The interests in business and politics makes me think significant Capricorn placements. Moon conjunct or hard aspect to Saturn. Mercury-Saturn. Saturn in the 1H or Saturn-Pluto in the 1H. Sun or Moon in Capricorn in hard aspect to Saturn.

But, I think a dry, sarcastic sense of humor is Saturn's form of humor, not goofy. That's more Jupiterian and Sagittarius.

Capricorn Ascendants just come off as serious no matter what they do.

The few I know all commonly express a shut down of expression. It makes sense being that I consider the Ascendant the door to our charts. Capricorn puts like 10 extra locks and a deadbolt on it.

That kinda restraint makes even the wacky ones seem a at least a little serious

Well I checked his natal and he has some of what has been described:

Sun (5th) square Saturn (7th)
Moon (2nd) inconjunct Saturn (7th)
Mercury (4th) square Saturn (7th)
Mars (7th) conjunct Saturn (7th)

Maybe that has something to do with it???

So that definitely helps. Aries ascendant though.
