Hey there,

What aspects/placements would cause someone to be unable to connect with others? Like an inability to emotionally connect. Of course, most people feel lonely at some point in their lives, but what would make it a pronounced theme?

I ask this because I have Aquarius Moon/Uranus in the 8th house, square Chiron, which is very active in my chart. I feel like an alien most of the time.

What about moon in aspect to Saturn or Uranus? Moon square Mercury, Venus or Mars? Moon conjunct Pluto? Moon in Scorpio?

Saturn in the 12th is classic for this ime but it has to be over 10 degrees from the ASC

I think there's validity to the idea that Scorpio, Aquarius, and Pisces are most related to the theme of the outsider, for different reasons.

Scorpio has the gift or the curse of being aware of other people's dirty laundry. They're the ones who have an "eye for shadow," the hidden emotional undercurrents and the parts that most of us try to disown and repress. They're not fond of superficiality and they can be what appears to be brutally honest. Scorpio is also passionate.

Aquarius is unconventional, idealists tuned to the future, usually very broad minded, extremely intelligent, and quirky. They represent the avant garde. What's that saying about marching to the beat of a different drummer?

Pisces are often very idealistic and spiritual. They can also be the most compassionate of people, which can put them at odds with social conventions and rules. Pisces yearns for transcendence, whether that be through drugs and alcohol or through a quest for union with the Divine. Many mediums and psychics as well as artists and musicians are born under or have a preponderance of planets in this sign. These are sensitive souls, attuned to subtle and spiritual forces, which because of the predominant world view of science is largely rejected in Western culture.

It's easy to see how each for different reasons would tend to feel like outsiders and to be at odds in their families or within the broader culture in which they live.

Also, these three signs are ruled by the three outer planets, Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune respectively, and that has a lot to do with why these signs tend to be outsiders.

Having said this, it doesn't mean that all people born under these signs are outsiders. I'm speaking in archetypal terms, not about individual people.

People who feel like outsiders also have strong outer planet aspects in the natal charts, and/or one of these planets angular, I think especially in the 1st house.

One aspect in particular that I'll mention is Saturn-Pluto, the conjunction, square, and opposition, especially if in major aspect to any of the personal planets.

People who are born under Saturn-Pluto tend to experience isolation as a regular feature of their life. The conjunctions, squares, and oppositions tend to have confrontations with the pathologies of the human psyche, illness, mental or physical, and in some cases death. They have a knowledge of and have seen things most people don't want to know about. Knowings things that other people don't makes one lonely, thus, isolating. Saturn-Pluto is associated with depression and it's well known that people who are depressed feel isolated from others.

Edwin Steinbrecher wrote a book called "The Inner Guide Meditation." He associates what he calls "alien energy patterns" in the natal chart with Sun or Moon conjunct Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto, or one of these planets in the 1st house. If your Moon is conjunct Uranus it would be an example of an alien energy pattern.

StarlightSmileSupreme:
I have Moon/Saturn (loose) and Moon/Uranus (exact). I also have Moon sextile Pluto, though I always thought it shouldn't be so intense since it's considered an 'easy' aspect. Does your Moon have similar aspects?

Ami Anne:
I do not have Saturn in the 12th, though I do think that is a placement that suffers through a lot of trials. My Saturn is retrograde and squares my Ascendant from the 10th.

Peony:
The two most dominant signs in my chart are Scorpio and Aquarius, lol. Scorpio Sun and Aquarius Moon. Not much Pisces in my chart, though I have SN and the Midheaven in that sign. Moon is also more loosely conjunct Neptune- so yes to alien energy patterns!

I don't have an aspect between Saturn and Pluto... but both feature heavily in my chart. I have both Saturn/Asc and Pluto Asc, but an empty first house. Do you have Saturn/Pluto aspect in your chart?

Geminiyoungster:
My 11th house is empty, with house cusp in 29 degrees Aries. I have a lot of 5th house placements, however.

I don't have Saturn and Pluto in major aspect. I have Pluto conjunct the Sun in the 1H and Moon conjunct Uranus, so three alien energy patterns in my chart. It took a long time, but I've come to feel "at home" on the planet at last.

If you're interested in psychology, Moon-Uranus can manifest as a separation or break with the mother and the sense of safety and warmth which the maternal womb provides to the infant or child. That can lead later in life to feeling alien in the world in that the mother is our first contact and entry point into the world. It can also be felt as feeling unsafe in the body. On a feeling level, Moon-Uranus can "split off" feelings easily or have a hard time accessing feelings sometimes. This can also affect the ability to connect or feel close to other people or with Uranus of course makes it difficult to sustain feelings and connections. The need for space is paramount.

But, Moon-Uranus has very positive aspects. It can liberate the expression of feeling and in a woman's chart it can indicate exceptional gifts and creativity.

Well I have moon/gem square saturn/pisces .. I feel like that too. Welcome to the club. It's the other day I was asking myself n my gf if it's my destiny to be lonely. I've read that the 8th house can also make u feel like an outsider and loneliness leading to depression. But the good side to it is that the 8th kinda give u extra intuition. the ability to "feel" things such as others emotions etc... but if the emotion is not so positive u will defiantly feel it and it can make u think that the person may not like u or something. Once again, leading todepression. I have 8th venus and Mars.so I Def know what am talking about plus I have neptune trine ascendant giving me more physic ability

Yep, I completely relate with that description. My mother had very erratic, bizarre behavior. She was bright, but difficult to predict. Internally, I think I'm the same way. It's very hard because of its house placement- in the 8th house, so Moon craves intimacy but Uranus causes sudden ups and downs in life and relationships. Where is your Moon/Uranus conjunction?

Ami Anne:
Moon/Uranus conjunction is less than a degree
Moon sq. Chiron is 3 degrees
Uranus sq. Chiron is 4 degrees
I also have Jupiter sq. Chiron at 5 degrees and Sun conjunct Chiron, at 6 degrees

Deptic:
*high fives*
Yeah, Moon sq. Saturn is tough. Do you have any other aspects to your moon?

Whoops, didn't see the second half of your reply, lol. Yeah, I have an 8th house stellium of Moon, Uranus, and Jupiter. Very attuned to other people's feelings. I have a hard time drawing boundaries because I feel responsible for other people's feelings- like when someone is angry (not at me, just in general) I feel like I need to help them.

That's cool
Yeah! It suckz sometimes. But thankful because lot of people aren't as intuitive as I am :P .. so I'm thankful for that. U just have to know how to block out the negative energies or at least most of them and you'll be more happy and btw, you're not an outsider, u just think u are. Being able to "feel" others, you're more connected to them than u think

Uranus is near the cusp of the 12H and Moon is in the 12H, the most alien of all the houses, but also the most fascinating to my mind.

My ex has Uranus and Venus conjunct Pluto in his 7H. He's one of the most balanced and sane people I know. His Venus-Pluto needs a close, intimate relationship, but his Uranus demands space and freedom. Also, with Uranus and Pluto in the 7H, disruption and change is a feature. He and his wife have an unconventional relationship that has elements of stability and change, closeness and space. I'm mentioning this because you can have both. It's a matter of finding a way to have both needs met, but it is possible.

On second thought, having Uranus in the 7th may be different and cuts deeper than having it in the 8H. I imagine it gives one a sense of the fragility of human ties also.
